I know the big boys bring decent money, but this is just ridiculous. I have seen this thing for sale on CL (several different times) a few months ago with no price. I'm guessing he/she has been lurking on the site and feels the time is right to throw a crazy # out there and see what happens.

Hey, I'm the first guy the say that there's an *** for every seat, but how in the hell can he/she think that people (in our current financial state) have the coin to fork up $2500 for something that holds objects in place. I just do not see it.

The ebay ad is icing on the cake for me. I'm pretty sure that they are still built (big boy Wiltons) in the US, and though $3800 is a ton of money people (AKA businesses, manufacturers etc.) that need items like this have funding as well as a need for such a mammoth vise.

I'm hoping someone can prove me wrong to justify his/her asking price. Even though $2500 is considerably less than $3800 for a new one 99% of your CL buyer market will be a consumer or at the very best a reputable local business. Either way, they would probably pass at a price tag of $2500. Plenty of other tools to be had (to me) before a $2500 vise manufactured almost 40 years ago.

It can actually get worse. I've seem chicom Wiltons for WELL North of a C-note in the past few months, and some of the exposed screw home owners vise re-sellers are following suit... It's preposterous.

It looks as if you can get a new vise of that model for the about same price new.

The great thing about CL is that it's free to sell. The bad thing is that it doesn't cost anything to post an item for sale, looking for a sucker. Or post 100 items.

That is a really nice vise
At that price I wouldn't look twice
If I bought it, I could only afford to eat rice
Then again I would have a really big vise
I just don't think I can eat that much rice.
Linking to ebay to justify price
O well, such is life.

It is expensive because it comes with the yard.

Seriously vise prices are ridiculous, I laugh at them. I would buy new before I'd pay some hack for used vise, no telling how it was used. Fancy paint or not.

Ask for their address to send Christmas lights to decorate it. That is not going anywhere with that price!

He has had it on CL for a while. He has it on ebay as well. He also has a few anvils and a Reed 206R at equally ridiculous prices. I guess he doesn’t need the money. Or maybe someone will pay. stranger things have happened.
