I know the big boys bring decent money, but this is just ridiculous. I have seen this thing for sale on CL (several different times) a few months ago with no price. I'm guessing he/she has been lurking on the site and feels the time is right to throw a crazy # out there and see what happens.
Hey, I'm the first guy the say that there's an *** for every seat, but how in the hell can he/she think that people (in our current financial state) have the coin to fork up $2500 for something that holds objects in place. I just do not see it.
The ebay ad is icing on the cake for me. I'm pretty sure that they are still built (big boy Wiltons) in the US, and though $3800 is a ton of money people (AKA businesses, manufacturers etc.) that need items like this have funding as well as a need for such a mammoth vise.
I'm hoping someone can prove me wrong to justify his/her asking price. Even though $2500 is considerably less than $3800 for a new one 99% of your CL buyer market will be a consumer or at the very best a reputable local business. Either way, they would probably pass at a price tag of $2500. Plenty of other tools to be had (to me) before a $2500 vise manufactured almost 40 years ago.
