I haven't been able to get out to many sales this year, and haven't found much when I did, but the last couple weeks have been good.

Here are my finds from a couple weeks ago.

At the first sale I spent $28 and came home with a brand new set of German made Dewalt drills, a set of US made Blu- Mol drills (all but a couple of which were unused), a right a angle drill attachment, and a US made Makita screwdriver kit.

The second sale yielded a set of Proto extractors, a Dunlap push drill with a good selection of bits, and a few other things for $10.

This weeks finds include:

A lightly used 50' Lufkin Chrome Clad tape for $2.
A 7 piece Proto roll pin punch set for $3 (two of them have actually been used once or twice)
A 41 piece Hansen SAE tap and die set for $20 (A few pieces have been used once or twice and the 10-24 tap was missing).
An 8 piece Eklind Power-T ball-driver set for $8 (new or lightly used)
A 6 piece Challenger SAE combo set for $5 (pouch torn, but wrenches are new)

Figured if I was interested I needed to jump. Wifey isn't real thrilled with tool storage purchases, so timing is critical to the old domestic bliss.

I probably didn't know enough about the used market on these and I may have paid a little too close to asking. They are heavy as heck. All the drawers roll good. Needs some cleaning and maybe some paint but not dented. They were very close so I don't have time and gas into them. I also liked the fact that there were three and the drawers config is the same in each cabinet, but the drawers themselves are graduated. I am thinking of all three butted together with a single top on them.

fortson - 6 1/4" long, the ends are 7/16" thick, and the handle is 1/4" thick. The opening at the end stamped 9 is 9/16", the other end is a hair over 11/16".

Complete set of Montgomery Wards Powr-Kraft DOE SAE wrenches. Found rolled up and tucked away in a corner at an Estate Sale.

Both of those boxes are nice. I like to refinish my old boxes so they look like new again, but most collectors like to leave them as they were found.

I didn't intend to become a reseller, but I discovered that I can spend time looking at tools, buying tools, talking about tools, expanding my tool collection, expanding my knowledge, meeting interesting people, AND make some money to help support my family. I trade some things (I don't think I've ever received money for a piece of Plomb), I collect some things, I sell some things cheap, and I sell some things high. Got this fella last night, I had to have it LOL, it was listed for 75 but he took 50 LOL (yup 50 again) I haven't looked for a manufacturer yet but is a heavy *** cabinet! Its dual walled heavy metal, the top is almost 100 pounds by itself (some composite) I am thinking it has to be fire rated . And its already Harley colors!

Or Duro-Chrome. Duro Metal Products, which made Duro-Chrome and Indestro, was the only mid-century manufacturer to use the entire element name (versus the shortened CHROME) in their branding. Sometimes you'll see WARD's sockets marked that way as well, because they were made by Duro.

New guy here. Hi all. My finds from last week. Total of 175 tools averaged out to just over 91 cents per tool.


The rest of the haul is a mix of S-K, Williams, K-D, Indestro, Armstrong, Plomb, Walden, Herbrand, Fiat, Spearpoint, Blue Point, Mac, Matco, Snap-on, Hinsdale, Bonney, Craftsman, Wizard, Cornwell, Easco, None Better, Thorsen. Most of this will probably go to trades in time.

I think some got left out of the pics, but you get the idea.

All my old catalogs show the disc as standard, I have passed them up in the past becasue they were missing and not priced accordingly.

If you run into a cast aluminum 9" disc for one of these, pick it up!! They show one on the Sears parts site for a newer model, IDK if it would work but I may end up trying.

Here is my latest find jet metal horizontal bandsaw $75. It's model HVBS-461 serial 810410 so I am guessing its 30 some years old? . Runs smooth, just needs a new belt. I am going to have to make some kind of stand for it with some of the other mods I have been seeing around here.

I can't keep up with everyone's posts. Holy cow! Everybody's cleaning house this weekend!
Ended up getting a mix of things. It was weird. The first sales I went to didn't have tools. They had knives! Lots of them! And cheap. A pair of Mtech Xtremes and a Big Swede from the 70's for a buck a pop that looks unused. A short dress sword, Toledo Spain and a highly impractical samurai sword with a cobra head from China, $5 (I'm thinking Fruit Ninja). Also found a stack of 1980's Heavy Metal mags. Every thing I would have wanted when I was 13!

Last sale was at was a place these folks moved into and has an old mechanics shop they were clearing out. I found another Cman box just like last weekend only not rusted out and beaten to death for $10. Mostly full of Craftsman wrenches, some Indestro, a Penens ratchet (a keeper), and other misc. Also got a Hallicrafter Skyrider Jr mini boat anchor for $5 for a winter project. But I made a horrible mistake at this sale.
The first thing I looked at was an old Craftsman matched rollaround and the top box with some stuff in it. They wanted $50. Mulled it around in my mind and left. I got about a mile away and thought, "Am I fricking crazy"?!? So I spun it around and went back.
It was gone! This guy was grinning and pulling away in a big SUV and he was the guy that got it. Paid for, loaded, and gone in less than five min. I should have gone with my gut.
I did go back Sunday and got the mechanics cart for $15. Someone painted ugly yellow but it looks like it was Cman blue in its beginning. The logo is missing so I have no idea who made it. Still, its solid and a good winter project.
Almost forgot the funnel for $.50. Saw someone else got a similar one here far enough back I can't remember who.

I'm not a ham guy, but I do/did have an enviable radio room. It was also my tool room until my shop was finished (I should make a post on that). That's my bachelorhood all piled in heaps in my soon to be daughters bedroom. I have to get rid of most it per wife. But not my Hallicrafter gear. Not from my cold dead hands.

Wow! Good eye! Its a phillps #2 and the tip is in good shape. If it wasn't for the surface rust, the handle itself looks new. That's the problem with Washington State. If you don't clean and oil it often you get rust just from the moisture in the air. I think yippies here consider it patina to make themselves feel good. I was going route it off to the surplus pile, so sure. I will give it a rust dip when I do a couple of other tools in the next day or so. PM me and we can set something up.

I think you saw mine, it was similar, no handle but had a standoff on the neck. I thought it was to keep from getting an airlock while filling but a guy I know who used to work on airplanes said the small tabs on it locked into the filler port on some airplanes.

SOH: That Hallicrafters is pretty damn cool - have fun with it. Who makes that 1/2" drive ratchet? Looks kinda cool and I don't recognize it. (which means I would have bought it!)
