Hey Everyone, First post here... So I figured I'd show you what I started out with.

I'm a 22 year old student, paying my way with handyman work, welding, and knife making. I live at home to help my parents pay the bills and work out of this garage. Last year I decided this was not going to work, So I started organizing and cleaning in my spare time.

Since the house has a large lot, and since cold weather isn't really a problem in Temecula, CA ... I had my dad help me build an extension onto one of our back yard Sheds. Framed it using mainly "reclaimed" 2 x 6

Sided and painted with a random 5 gallon bucket of ext paint we found.

Garage door is currently broken, but It is now much more usable!

I'm still a few years from getting my own place but until then I'll treat this as my own and get it fixed up when I can.

Definitely need:

- Better Lighting
- More Shelves
- Metal Welding Table
- A second circuit
- Room for a drill press
- Room for a band saw

Thanks for looking guys, more pics of everything cleaned and stowed away once I get the busted spring on the garage door fixed

That's a pretty cool thing your doing their, staying at home and helping your folk's out. Not many kids your age these days would do that. They turn 18 and gone, split, get away from mom & dad, they forget how their parents took care of them. I like the shed idea, I might just steal it from you (the idea, not the shed) Did you have to get a permit or anything from the city or did you guys just knock it out one weekend?
Oh yeah, welcome to The Garage

Knocked out over the course of about a month, no permits thankfully... Although we technically did need one. The rule for both San Diego and Riverside county is if its less than 120sqft of floor space, used for storage and has no utilies to it you don't need a permit.

Both Riverside and San Diego will do over the counter permits to, where if you bring them a "simple" set of plans they will approve or deny right there. So if you want to go bigger sketch something up with dimmensions and take them down on a slow day they will more than likely approve them as long as you get the idea to have a light in there the next day. Also, one shed is never enough... or two... or 3 even, I plan on a 4th one when I find more free wood lol.

Ahh wrappin up a production run of my cleaver style machetes tonight and decided to snap a pic. Been busy the last few months and as cluttered as it looks its been working good. Time to clean up a bit because the last thing I want is a stray peice of 60grit abrasive messing up a 1200 griit satin finish on one of my blades. Pics and updates to come soon!

Since closet space is at a premium in my house. Added a little extra to that today in the garage.

Quite a transition from where you started to where you are today. Creative use of your space in unconventional ways. I'm a displaced So Cal native now living in the central valley for a number of years. Very familiar with your area.

Welcome to GJ. Keep the updates coming and the pics. We all like the pics :bounce:
