Only went to one yard sale today. Trying to get stuff done around the house so I picked the one that was close and said "Tools, Tools, Tools." I picked through and got I think all USA stuff to include some SK, SK Wayne, Indestro and Craftsman V sockets, Herbrand extension. Among the wrenches are Craftsman, Blackhawk, SK, Sk Wayne, Blue Point and a large Husky 1 1/4. The items below the sandpaper are Snap On. I got an old MAC screwdriver, a large 50" steel prybar, a pair of Channellocks, USA Vise Grip and some other goodies to go with my Cornwell top box. Also got the sandpaper and the watering can. Everything was $55.

The box is around 26" long, 14 1/2" tall and about 12" deep. Don't know much about it other than it was "**** Ryan's" and there is a 1979 calendar in it. No key but it seems like a nice box. Really no serious rust, just needs a good cleaning.

Figured again it wasn't worth a picture, just got a pair of smaller Jorgensen bar clamps for $3 that still had home depot stickers for $10/each on them.

Left a Wards cantilever box behind, almost went back for it but no made in USA stamp that I could see anywhere on it.

Just picked up these made in the USA goodies for $15!

6" long nose Vise Grips
7" straight Vise Grips
No name tube cutter
Stanley all-metal miter box

estate082413.jpg

Nice, a set of the 6LN vise grips is on my list of things to look for!

You need to put that lamp in the front window then run out front at night to see how it looks !!

You didn't happen to pick up a Red Rider BB gun at that sale also did you?

Just remember "you'll shoot your eye out kid !!" :lol_hitti

Yesterday was a today bust. Today was a little better.

The prices for this pile were just too good to resist. I've never seen Bonney BP Hammers before:

Made in England Record quick release wood working vise (he agreed to $15):

005x.jpg

006x.jpg

Heavy 7", 1/2HP, 6.3 amp Milwaukee Grinder, cast iron guards/exhaust, missing eye shields and one side cover. The seller claims it just hums. That's probably because the base is missing and I bet it contained the start cap. The little base is a poor fabrication. It was $20. Would you guys have bought it?? It has lots of potential.

Chopper, I would have came to your sale if I were local, BUT... I would have bitched about it on the way over, seeing all the tools presorted. The guys you see every morning beating down the doors to get in tool sales look for opportunity in unpicked sales. Your pics look like a vendor(pro) and can scare away the average guy. If you have to pack it all back in, take a pic of the piled up mess and post it in the ad next time, bet you'll get more people :lol_hitti Hope today was much better for you, people tend to move around more on Sat when school is back.

I'm having hell. I use my iphone to take pics, then upload them with FTP Pic Up app to my website and link from there. Well, as of yesterday, the app crashes every time I try to load any pic. I am completely baffled and even worse, can not for the life of me figure out how to get the pics from my phone to my computer to upload from here. :dunno:

Quickkota, those are close to sunrise red but any color will work, have you checked out the Vise thread? Lots of examples of single/two and three color paint jobs on that style!

WNYflyer, love that movie, one of my fave holiday flicks, I watch it almost every season.

Can you see your phone in Itunes?
My new IP5 will automatically ask me to import any new photos when I plug in the USB cord.
Like today's new pics of out latest adoption,Ellie:

I just had to reload itunes on my computer, haven't used it in forever. When I plug it in, it asks to sync my computer files to phone, overwriting my phone pictures so I have not synced yet. I have the ip4. On top of that, the email address that was linked to my old itunes account was canceled last week so there is no accessing that email account to log back in. I can see the phone, but not the pics in itunes. I have deleted the app and reloaded it, also updated the software on the phone and that did not help either. :dunno:

Bad week for sales. Only one worth going to. Went to another this afternoon and it was a waste of time.

Here is what I got for $20

$2 each for Jorgensen clamps
$2 for unknown vise. Here is marking on it in case anyone recognizes it

$0.25 each for hose repair fittings (always handy to have)
$2 for 4-in-1 screwdriver (I keeping losing them and can always use another)

$2 for a Lenox hacksaw
$2 for a SK 43875 USA swivel head 3/8" ratchet

14 Kodak Carousel trays! I've been looking for these for a while. I found only two of these in the last couple years and now have a lifetime supply. $0.50 each.

A lot of driving this morning. Signs with no arrows, not worth pulling out a map to find baby clothes and avon bottles.

The first stop advertised tools. I was the first one to show up. He had a 10" Cman RAS w/home-made stand for $60. Good deal, but I already have one so I passed. Other than that, the only tools I found were the bench hold-downs that I bought. The rest of the stuff was scrap, and there wasn't much of it.

Then, 45min of wild goose chases.

I finally drove to a flea market. I found a 1/4hp 6" pre-block Cman grinder w/light and shields, no quench tray or stand, for $40. A decent price, but once again, I just bought a 1hp blockhead all decked out for the same price. Pass. I'm holding out for a larger hp Baldor type to use as a polisher.

Weeks of hunting with no luck, and now I'm seeing things that I already have, or just bought. :dunno:

Today's finds : $8 total
A pair of unmarked 3" bench hold-down clamps, likely made in China from the construction.
8' Utica (triple diamond logo) #90-8 adjustable wrench
That's it
.

I went to 6 garage sales that advertized tools! Junk or nothing. Then I hit one that wasn't in the paper but on the same block as one that was. I had a handfull of NAPA, Wright, Proto extensions and sockets. They decided not to sell them!!! What was that?

So I stopped by two of my favorite pawn shops and got the following:

A Otonnwa-1/2, Atisan-1/2 and SK-3/8 ratchets for $5
The Otonnwa has the swivel head and the stud that slides through the head to reverse directions.

Then a 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 V code, pat. pending C-man ratchets and a big Klien and C-man screwdrivers. $5

Then I hit a pawen shop that I seldom go to and go the V code 1/2" drive ratchet and sockets for $10. The short sockets are a complete set from 1" to 7/16"

Looked like another slow weekend, but I mapped out a route last night and here's what I found.
Stop 1, estate sale, apparently opened before the stated 8 am start time. $4.75 for all of this:

Duro/Indestro Select wrench set with roll, Square-C Craftsman Vanadium linesman's, Bernard parallel-jaw pliers, Cee-Tee slip-joints, and 3 Craftsman DBEs (don't think I've ever seen Craftsman shorties before.)

Stop 2 tantalized with an ad that included the phrase "Toolbox with tools." Alas, it was underwhelming and overpriced. I did find a couple of $.50 grab bags with enough goodies to make it worth the buck:

2 Herbrand ignition wrenches, a Barcalo DOE, a chewed-up Craftsman orange-handled Pro screwdriver, 2 Wright, 1 Snap-On, and 1 Sparta socket.

The next productive stop gave up a Sealed Power piston ring tool for another buck, but no pic of that.

A couple fruitless Targets of Opportunity, then I headed for the last stop of the day: an estate sale on its second day a few blocks off Lake Michigan. I was concerned when I realized that it was "Maritime Heritage Weekend" and that all the garage sales on the drive in had cars wrapped around the block. Still, I was third on the sign-up list and waited 15 minutes for the sale to open. I was first in the garage. Ended up spending $29.75 total for everything in both pics:

2 Cman Groover/Dado sets, a 1980-vintage Micronta multimeter in its original box, a Stevens Spintite T-handle, -Craftsman- 4" adjustable wrench, Daniels Fisherman scissors, Wiss Inlaid scissors, Brink and Cotton 3" C-clamp, and 3 Craftsman C-clamps.

Pliers! -Craftsman- tongue-in-groove, Barcalo linesman's, Utica Button's and wiring, Crestoloy cutters, BMC adjustable, Diamond bent-nose, Duro-Chrome battery, Kraeuter Linesman's and ...duckbill(?), and two of a type I don't recognize; one USA by 'Prinzlaff' (or something similar), one unmarked with mfr or COO.

A1 Makita 10mm (3/8) Corded drill, SO hook, Challenger l 1/4 ext. $7

attachment.php

A Champion Blacksmith's blower. needs to be unfrozen, the PO claimed it was working until he "De-greased" it, then it froze up. I think it's only one gear on the assembly. other than that it looks in great shape!

$10

attachment.php

Klein Lineman's (Yes Jeff, you Spy a Klein) - 1943, Danialson lineman's, a Mac 3/8 drive impact ext. and a cool old 2" clamp marked "TH" $4

attachment.php

Starrett Machinist level (My first! Finally! :rocker: ), and Needle nose side cutting pliers, from Vindorona Imp Co. Austria < First Austrian tool for me! :D

$1 ea.!

attachment.php

Old Screwdriver, a harpoon tip, and a home made knife (Boot top?) $2 all

attachment.php

A PowrKraft Vise Grip, Klein Needle nose 1955 (Yes Jeff, you Spy another Klien, and it does say Bell System... ) Craftsman T30, Stanley Scratch Awl, Diamond Auto wrench (That is plating, not silver paint! rare to see these plated), a Frontier folder knife (USA) and 4 Thorsen long combos.

Technically this came from a flea market, but here's what I got today for $61
(all USA stuff)

flea1_zps062672b7.jpg

Three SK sockets, 25, 26, & 27mm $1.25 each (good shape)
flea4_zps2121bdd2.jpg

Craftsman Industrial Socket 1-1/4" for $2.25, looks like it's never been used!
flea2_zps46fbe59d.jpg

Lisle External Torx socket set (new, in packaging (I took off before the photo)), $10

Six SK SAE crowfoot - $25 for the 'set' (definitely used, one or two have a few tiny rust spots) (cheapest I've seen for the 11 pc SAE set online was $115 w/o shipping.)
flea3_zps01aed8a7.jpg

Two Snap On wrenches, 5/8 & 11/16, to replace the made-in-Japan Sears brand wrenches that were in my otherwise entirely Craftsman wrench set. The first and only thus far Snap On stuff I own/bought! - $10 each

Any ideas on where to get blades?

I picked up an identical Wen last fall from a friend when helping her move.
It was her ex-husband's from years ago.

As for blades, any universal /U-shank fit blade will fit (not the Bosch t-shank style). I picked up a few of teh Ace bramd jigsaw blades. 22988 and 23174.

THere should be two allen/hex key set screws that hold the blade in from the side of the reciprocating arm/shaft.

I was missing one of the set screws and got one from my local mom amd pop hdwre store.

My wen has the sliding fence that is built in to allow accurate long cuts or repetitive cuts. That's what is supposed to be in that slot on the heel plate bump up and the screw behind is a set screw to keep it in place. Looks like your tilting heel plate still works.
You are also missing the helper handle that screws into the body to help you guide the saw straight if using 2 hands. Black round knob handle around 2" or 2.5" dia. It's that empty hole on the side body in the 2nd picture . Think of it as a 2nd handle much like on a hammer drill. :)

I don't know what rpm they push but wood seems to be their sweet spot. For metal they struggle so I step up to my Bosch tools.

Play around and cut some play, plastics and sheet metal or alum. and see what works for you.
If it runs, it'll do the job. They are tanks.

Thanks for the pics Matt! interesting little vise! Different approach on the screw on that one.

You might post it in the Vise thread for a better shot at the ID of the logo.

Re phone ap - pix.
Don't know if this'll work for you, but on my phone there's a separate chip - a micro SD card that holds the pictures. Pop off the back and it's right beside the battery. For safety of data, turn phone off, remove battery before taking the chip out. I then have an adaptor that lets me pop the chip right into the standard SD slot on my computer. There's also an adaptor that lets you put an SD card into a USB port - costs practically nothing.
Hope this helps!

Awesome lamp! Keep the wife away from it, hah.

Actually, the garage sale was a minute from my barber... saw he wasn't open yet, hit the sale, saw that, got my hair cut, picked up the wife to be, went back to the sale, and she laughed and said yes, absolutely ;)

You need to put that lamp in the front window then run out front at night to see how it looks !!

no can do with that on an iphone...

Dude, you're on eBay all the time. Is your 4 in good shape? I went out, upgraded to the 5 ($200), paid the activation fee ($35), then sold my 4 within a week for $240. Free upgrade + $5 for the gas to the mall.

You guys did well, why can't I find stuff like that!? I did pass on some sockets and wrenches that were by themselves. What do you do with the non matching sockets and lost wrenches?

My day was short and hot, found a few things to put to work tho

DSC03207_zpsc86e9d65.jpg

50s beer cooler (needs the ice pick and bottle opener still), Wen 199 quick hot soldering gun, akro something organizer with a bunch of odds and ends in it, craftsman chisels, tap handle, Chas klenk snips, door closer (for the 4x6 bandsaw), (and a self winding hose reel box fan, not pictured because they are boring.
