I have been trying to price out insulation for my slab. I cab only find it at the box stores and is about $30 a sheet. Where did you guys source it if not from HD, Lowes? I have tried a lot of local construction yards and they don't carry it

The factory. You're ordering a decent amount. I got 25 psi 2" foam made for me and it was of course cheaper than the home depot.

You seem price sensitive, surely you are not thinking that you must pay double for the pink or blue? You can use white too.

Yes, white EPS Is rated for underslab use. There is an insulfoam factory in Kent, WA. They puff the beads into board.

The plant has now moved to Frederickson where they also make polyiso board.

Doesn't your home depot sell eps? Why don't you think that is for underslab?

The eps I have found doesnt list under slab. And is only rated at 1lbs denisty and I dont think I want that under my slab.

I bought mine from the same concrete company I bought my wire mesh and concrete from. It was dow brand and rated for underslab use.

That was 2006. No cracks.

Look again, 1 lb density foam is not rated at 1 psi compressive strength. You'll need to call the manufacturer and ask them to decipher the specifications.

I do understand that. From what I have found its about a 12psi rating. Still waiting to hear back from the manufacture though

The HD stuff should be a 15 psi board, you can buy 25 psi if that makes you feel better but realize that 15 psi is stronger than the ground under it in most cases and even 6" concrete only weight 0.5 psi.

Go to Craigs list, and you will find, in Akron, a guy selling the insulation. Very reasonable prices in my opinion.

I've seen the 25 psi stuff at Menards for 26. Thats the cheapest I've seen at the box stores. I contacted a local manufacturer of EPS and they gave me a price of $20 for 25PSI and 15 for 15PSI. I'd do a little research and see if you can find a manufacturer of the stuff in your area. The only downfall is they have minimum orders so you can't go buy a few sheets so you need to make sure you figure out your order correctly or get a few extra sheets just in case. I'm getting a mixture of both I'm going to use the 15 around the outside and the 25 everywhere else. If it was only a dollar difference between the two like it typically is at the box store I'd do 25 on everything but saving 5 bucks a sheet I'll use the 15 where it doesn't matter.

Ok I seem to have found 1inch board cheap. Is it ok to layer them underslab to have 2inch total?

I guess its 2x4 sheets that are tongue and Grove. He didnt put that in the listing. Think that would be risky layering that under a slab?
