Nothing special to show. Four small clamps, Peterson Vise Grips, 9 inch Auto adjustable wrench, 9" Ridgid pipe wrench, and a stapler for the wife (since she keeps taking mine). $5 for all.

Those staplers are great! Heavy duty. Have been using one for years that was made in Sweden.

All that for $5 was a steal, especially when it includes a Petersen vise grip. That piece alone was worth more than $5.

I always wanted a decent size anvil. Here's one from an estate sale this morning. The surface is nearly pefect. Anyone hear of Trexton?? She weighs in at about 170lbs. This is not even close to being a "you ****" deal. (I paid dearly @ $2.50/lb but if I didn't someone else was right behind me).

P1020199.jpg

Klein,Xcelite, Ridgid, Wards and Channelock @ $8 for the pile.

007xz.jpg

Anyone recognize this hammer logo. Is it Navy??

009xz.jpg

Kraeuter??? Tool Kit ($3):

005xz.jpg

All full and all from the Free pile (at moving sales they'd rather give this stuff away then take it to hazardous waste recycling)

P1020202.jpg

Husky 141 Parts Saw ($2):

003xz.jpg

I bought this only for the pedestal for another project ($10). If anyone wants the block grinder just PM me. It'll be cheap.

It's actually Trenton. I believe they mis-stamped some of the late anvils. Very good anvils from what I hear. I had a 110lb Trenton but sold it for $220.

$2.50 a pound for a Trenton anvil qualifies for a "You ****" in my book. That's a very decent price. Like you said, it's not a total steal but I see Trenton's routinely selling for between $3-$4 a pound. They are quality American-made wrought iron anvils made by the Columbus Forge & Iron Company in Columbus, Ohio. You did good!

Dave, you're batting 1000 as always!! I would love to find a large anvil but they go for $4-6 lb around here, beat the hell up...

Just like me LOL. But maybe you find something super cheap I want and we make a trade. I could use a small metal lathe yet....

Do you keep a 1" steel ball bearing in your pocket to do a drop test on an anvil if you find one LOL? I just did a drop test on mine and it scored a rather impressive 85%.

I've only actually seen two anvils for sale in person so the balls in my pocket are not steel  I see them come up on CL for outrageous prices occasionally but rarely waste my time emailing them with a low ball offer. I will bring one if I'm ever serious about spending though:beer:

I hit a few garage sales today that said they had tools. Nothing in tools but lots of nic - nac stuff. I went to my favorite pawn shop and got this whole pile and a crown top tool box for $20. Most all of it craftsman, a few snap-on sockets and a channellocks, a clamp -on vise and a Snap-on m-71 1/2" ratchet. 4" crescent, 1/4" v code ratchet. A broken SK ratchet, I need to find a parts kit for it. Etc.

A good haul!

That's a good haul indeed! Wonder why they let such go so cheaply. Pawn shops in my area would easily charge $100+ for that much, hence why they have tons and tons of it never moving and they can't figure out why.

Picked up my recent local surplus auction winnings, which may as well have been a garage sale with the amount of stuff you end up getting when you buy toolboxes without seeing inside them.

Picked up the pair of hospital instrument carts for $15 total. Got to reassemble one wheel, but the parts are there. Should be good for under my hobby bench. Too big for my office/art studio. Nicely built, heavy, and rugged. But that makes sense considering they were for hospital room use.

At $5, I'm willing to take a chance on any tool box, and several listings had no bids with a few minutes to go, so what the heck, throw $5 on it and I ended up with it. I don't know this brand, but I'm impressed with the build quality. Heavy guage metal, reinforced seams, solid fit. Had misc cheap throwaway screwdrivers, or as I like to call them, "Premade Handles with shafts for custom modification/tool use".

There's a nice Craftsman miter box and another plastic tool box I got as a combo for $5. Don't have much use for the box, and the tools inside are mostly throwaways- same brands and types of screwdrivers as in the first box, so probably from the same source. Still, boxes are useful for making purpose dedicated boxes like for all gear/pulley pullers with adapters, or all extra / duplicate wrenches, or a body slide hammer and modified hooks and adapters. Easier to that stuff on a shelf labeled ready when you need it instead of cluttering up more frequently used drawers in your tool box.

Got up at 4am and drove an hour to be first in the door at an all-tool and auto parts estate sale Thursday morning. Nothing but "tool guys" everywhere. They had a bunch of large containers of R12 that most of the guys were salivating over but the estate sale company had to pull those from the sale because they were informed you need a refrigerant license to sell and buy the Freon. About 1/3 of the crowd left before the sale opened because of that. I managed to get some really nice stuff. Here's a pic of the wrenches and ratchets I picked up. Snap-on and Mac metric set, snap-on metric and sae line wrench sets and a really cool old-school Proto LA line wrench set.

There are three pawn shops that I go to regularly. They have fun trying to give me a good enough deal so I can't counter with a low ball price! They compete with each other to see who can give me the best deal and get most of my money. We all have fun, they get my money and I get good tools.

Technically not a garage sale (eBay). But definitely second hand. These go a long way to helping me complete my set of lazy S Professionals. I decided I'm going to work on the whole set which is at least 27 wrenches, once I can find a catalog listing the Pros I can find out how many for sure.

1 1/16, 1 1/8, 1 1/4, 1 5/16, 1 3/8, 1 7/16, 1 1/2.

Good stuff Tx, I'm working on that same set  Send me a list of what you have or what you need and I'll check my extras. Also, be sure to post up a list if you find one.

Ok today I got paid to go to garage sales. Took our clients at work to a citywide garage sale in a nearby town. Saw some ok to cool stuff. No real great tool finds, that I could afford. Waiting for an auction in a couple of weeks that has some good stuff. There was a Do-all machine for 600 dollars and a Lincoln tombstone for 150 at one sale though so there was some cool stuff. All I brought home was this little thing. Kinda cool and at least car related. Sorry for the sideways iPhone picture.

Quick stop on the way home tonight got me this for $5 :

Mac Metric Socket trey, Channellock 426's an Enco Mag Mount, and a Titan 1/4" Ratchet.

attachment.php

The Titan is going to cause me to resurrect the Tiny Tools Thread.

Than is a SO M70 next to it and yes that is a dime not a Quarter! Apparently Titan is by the TopTul (Taiwan) tool Co. While I'm not enthusiastic about Taiwan tools generally, its small size intrigued me and as long as it's not ChiCom, It will find a Home in the Tiny Tool Box.

I forgot to mention the little Titan is also 60T! Not bad for such a tiny guy, the only thing about it not tiny is the thickness, the SO is thinner...

It's also smooth as silk after a quick hose off with WD-40 as a fast/dirty clean up of the grit I could feel inside.
