Strangely, only one garage sale planned for me so far, it's not looking well. The only good thing, I spoke with the seller and he said he has LOTS of Craftsman, Snap On, MAC and more and "everything has to go"!

That's a you **** right there. It cost me around $500 to have two of them extracted in the late 90's and I never went back for the other two. Good money I could have spent on things I don't need.

(They let me keep mine, too).

LOL, naw he is actually one of the best dentist in Pittsburgh, PA.

The whole procedure before insurance would have cost me $2010.00 but with my insurance it covered it all up to $300.

Consider I tend to tap my dental insurance out each year ( a max of $1500 a year allowed for dental work except for special situation such as surgery) I don't feel too bad paying $180 a year out of my paycheck.

But now that my wisdom teeth are out and all of my teeth are cavity free and good looking I might get the full benefit of the insurance but with all of my maintenance dental work such as cleaning and inspection for free, I'm sure it would cost me more then $180 in dental care.

I got one garage sale I think I'm going to, but I got 2 tanks to pick up. One I'll get this afternoon, and the other I'll get tomorrow. A little drive for both, but since I never been to these parts of the Pittsburgh area I don't mind as it's a chance for me to explore!

***** to be me. I'm driving the 30 mins to the garage sale and I'm smacking my gum when my old silver dental filling fell out....I'm self employed and have no insurance...So I get there, he takes me to the shed and damn if there ain't a big *** Snap On with hutch and side locker full of tools, right next to a old school Craftsman stack like mine, next to a Snap On roller that is wedged under a shelf with 3 Craftsman chests on top. Dude has tons of tools, problem is he's asking 50% retail...I bought this O-Ring organizer for $20 and left with hopes of returning for a Heritage Logo Deluxe 6" Craftsman Jointer that he is supposed to be holding for me.

On the way home, I stop at a random sale and pick up an old vintage foot heater for $5

Then I hit the "maybe" stop hoping to save the day and a guy walks by with a heavy bag full of shiny tools...I'm too late...I did score some leftovers shown here for $16.25, Craftsman magnetic thingy, Kobalt ratchet, Dremel engraver, 3 Craftsman sockets, Crescent and Matco wrenches, 4/6 Irwin screw extractors and a Malco leather handle hammer.

Hope you guys have a better Friday the 13th than I...

That is sweet. Any more pics? Are the drawers on slides or do they come all the way out? Pretty heavy built? That would be sweet for drills, mills, cutting tools, etc. Totally worth $20 IMHO.

Besides totally worth $5? I'm pretty sure it is an old SK machinist box. If it is not too far out of the way, I would go get it. Then again I am a sucker for cheap old tool boxes, of which that is both.

I see a RHFT ratchet, makes that a pretty good haul in my opinion!

It just spins in either direction. It is not usable at the moment. It's COO is Japan, I forgot the brand off hand. I will have to take it apart and peek inside. To me it looks like a raised panel Craftsman but isn't.

Let see, The 1/4" sets are (Stevens-Walden, SK, and a very nice Circle H Craftsman). The outboard is a 1932 or so Johnson Seahorse. The Proto is a 5450. I haven't cleaned the blade on the saw yet so don't know if its marked. Last, the truck is a 1966 C20 Custom Camper, and I found it along the road while out picking last month. It hasn't been on the road since 1992, doing a little mechanical work then it will be my daily driver. Thanks all for the replies. This thread is proof that there is still great stuff still out in the wild.

If you absolutely don't need to use those. You can make a huge profit on Ebay with them. I know, most don't like Ebay. But those door sliders are popular lately. Had a pair just like those, appear to be identical. I sold them for about $100 give or take. I actually sold another brand as well and don't remember the exact price. But similar selling price. Something to think about.

More pics coming with round two, I hit some more sales and now my phone is DEAD. The metal is kind of thin, but there are 13 drawers and the case so it weighs in at 22lbs empty. The drawers ride on little sheet metal tabs made into the sides of the case. They are all divided into 3's and pull all the way out. It was worth $20, I just hate paying what something is "worth"

Blackmarket; I had spent 3 hours methodically wondering around the swap meet, most stuff at the swap had been returned year in year out by the same vendors and was over priced. The sliders were on a commercial sellers stand. I have got to admit to having a fetish and a keen eye for old cast iron ware, vintage, antique, old, industrial, retro etc. they took my eye straight away, you know when you see something and say " hmmm now that's a nice thing and I have got to have it."
I took out $5, handed it over and did not even haggle on price.
You are right they are very popular now.
Check out Urban Remains Web site in Chicago!! They have some great stuff on offer.
I do have a few pics in my Albums of stuff like this that I have brought over the years and intend to post more in the near future.
I am still unsure just where they will be used at this point.

Here ya go ZK, it's roughly 18.5 x 20(top folded down) x 6.5, 13 drawers plus the open space at bottom for carton storage. There is a flip up measuring device built in at the top that slides to provide a part number for the length o-ring being measured.

I forgot to mention, the guy I bought that cabinet from GAVE me this new can of FLUID FILM. Anyone ever try it? He sells it at his hose/fitting business and compd me a can to try hooking me into buying more

Now, back to the sales. Feeling like the broke tooth loser I am, I left out for a few pawn stops on the way to a sale that was totally opposite end of the earth from this mornings sales.
First stop has a super nice 50s cantilever Craftsman box but it's full of damaged torch handles and misc used tips and it's marked $49.95 Things with prices marked don't get discounted at this place. Only the unmarked single wrenches and things I can pick up for cheap. I asked if he could dump the busted torch **** in another box and sell me the Craftsman but no luck. I did walk away with this handful for $10, no tax this time.
Williams 1/2x10" Extension and 12" adjustable. Proto brake pliers, Greenlee unibit and a small Craftsman extension.

Three more pawn shops on the way to the other sale, only thing I got was dirty fingers...Finally get to the other sale, probably should have went there first this am. I grabbed the Swingline's on the way down the driveway before being directed to the "workshop" out back where I grabbed the Wiss shears and box of chalk. There was an old school Craftsman vise bolted down, the owner lady said it would be sold with the house, since she bought the house with it there

I'm walking out and I see this cool looking lil guy with a $7 price tag. Not too bad I think. I throw it under my arm and away I go!! Halfway home I'm all on ebay trying to identify it, last one sold on the 5th for about $100!! I'm all excited, can't wait to show you guys my new score!!! Wait for it....

No, the second pic....I get home and turn the handle twice and the damn jaw falls over...Shaft broken, shoot me in the face!

I forgot three Craftsman filler wrenches in the pawn shop post and left out the last Goodwill store stop where I scored this flex neck lamp for my next project!

Then I just checked the mail and I got a package from member Doktor Schnell, my purchase from the classifieds arrived today!! Couple nice condition Williams and Proto extensions, a Craftsman extension and another one of those weired, one line wonders that has been popping up lately.

These are the results of two Craigslist sales (one private sale and one garage sale) I visited in the last week, both within 10 minutes from my house. I paid around $240 total for all of it. Ignore the added mods on the air compressor and the Ridgid tri-stand, I just finished doing those myself with spare parts laying around and they were not part of the original purchases.

Ridgid 450 tri-stand in perfect working condition - $60

Milwaukee right angle D-handle drill in excellent cosmetic and working condition - $40

Milwaukee heat gun (fully operational with no issues) - $25

CLC Signature series tool bags (almost new condition and $150+ new), suspenders, and additional CLC hammer loop - $27

30' 5/16" grade 70 chain with grab hooks in new looking condition, and 25 foot fully-functional 3/8" hi-test chain with grab hooks all in a bucket. Also two extra tow hooks/slip hooks - $20 total

Older Hart 21 oz California framing hammer, 3 funnels (1 flexible), and a 5 gallon mixing paddle - $10 total

Craftsman 3 gallon air compressor with oil filled compressor pump. - $30

Misc other stuff including Estwing hammer, bag of ratchet straps in great condition, Husky tool tote, GFI extension cord, Irwin quick grip clamps, couple bottle jacks that all work fine, water level, Fuller 14" pipe wrench (this will be my beater), jumper cables, framing protractor, carbide tipped tile nippers, and about 10-20 other small things that I didn't bother taking pictures of as well. Almost all the smaller stuff in the pictures was between 50c and $2 each except the quick grip clamps which were $5 each.

FYI, the Corvette ratchet is for C4 vette targa tops... wouldn't mind having a spare, but I know some vette guys missing theirs. Still have mine fortunately.

Had the day off, so I picked out 6 yard sales off of craigs list, only two of them listed tools, but another one listed 3 shop work benches so off I went. I found this at my first stop, I got the organizer full of wire connectors and the box full for 5.00, not sure if this is a home made assortment or an comercial assortment, never seen an organizer like this, it is like 15 inches square and has like 42 compartments. 3 out of 6 stops were good. I will make another post for my next stop, it has several pics for Jeff Moss....Rich

I took the two small pcs to our only full service lock shop to find out what they were. They are to put the cores in while you put the pins in so they don't roll away....Rich

I saw these and though of you, I knew that you would know what they were, I used to manage a hardware store so I know how to use these also, But we never used an core holder....Rich...
In the little tackle box there is Bump keys, and step keys and also a ring marked Master Keys and another one that is marked Mobil home Master keys. I still have one more box of tools from the same sale to bring in, but ran out of steam before I could...Rich

Great stuff alinc100 That wilton is really nice, doesn't look beat up. I too love buying a box of misc tools and then digging through to see what all I got. Like you said, a "treasure chest" Funny I ran across the same box last weekend, also full of tools for $40. Only difference was the tools in the one I found were all china/india. Needless to say I had to pass. Yours was full of nice tools and a nice box, much better deal.

There is part of a key machine like that at the lil thrift store down the road. It had a piece of masking tape with what looked like $500.00 on it so I carefully put it down. Next time I'm in there, I will look closer and inquire about the price. It had too many zeros to be $5 but this is a thrift store
