I don't know what brand these doors are that they just installed in my new garage, but I like them! Insulated and covered on the inside makes them smooth and easy to keep clean. I like the uncluttered smooth surface. With the Liftmaster 8500 openers the doors are very silent going up and down too.

Those look like the doors I just had installed on my new garage by Over Head Door, and I also used the Liftmaster 8500 openers. One of my doors is 16x8 and the other is 10x8, very well insulated with composite rollers...very quiet. The openers automatically lock and unlock when closing and opening. Love'em...

What'd that cost you? There is an Overhead Door location just a few miles from me.

I went to Home Depot today to see what they had to offer. They have Cloplay doors. In the Cloplay catalog in the store, it actually showed the LiftMaster opener.

I asked how much for the doors I wanted, was $700 each including the $56 torsion spring upgrade. R value claim was 12.9.

4 weeks for delivery and free shipping to my house.

The guy had no idea if it'd work with the LiftMaster opener. Does anyone know if all Cloplay will?

Also, does the Cloplay have the drill adapter for tensioning the spring like those Ideal ones do?

I have no idea about the opener, but my 16' clopay does have the drill tensioner for the spring. My 9' has the old fashioned springs hanging at the back end of the track. These were bought in 2007 (I think).

I haven't seen it yet.The picture he texted was at final walk thru.. why do you ask?

If he's not using the I-drive and has no need for the wall remote, I might be inclined to take it off his hands if it works and is the right one.

Sorry for the hi jack.

Yes, they were put in by Overhead Door. I didn't know if they make the doors or used someone else's. The panels have weatherstripping between each too so they seal well.

I finally went into Overhead Door today as it was the soonest I could get there seeing as they close at 5pm.

I was surprised to find out the following INSTALLED prices including tax...

R12.9 doors - $648
R17 doors - $734

Plus $30 per door for a torsion spring setup.

I think I'll go with them for the doors as I have barely found that good of a price at a big box store and then they'll have to honor the function of the doors.

LM8500 openers, $550. Don't think I'll go with them for the openers because I need two and can get them from Amazon for $310 shipped or less. The openers should be pretty straight forward to install myself.

Was that $550 each? I got a 2-pack of them from this place for
$575 total + free shipping:

Yes, each!

They gotta make a living and I do not fault them for that. For the average person, that was probably a fine deal especially since the doors are dirt cheap when including insulation. If I didn't need TWO, I'd possibly let them have the whole order. But, since I need two, I could really use to save ~$400-550 on the job as that'll pay for the entire wall's construction and then some. :shocking:

I'm not average though, so I'll save some money and do the openers myself.

Before my build, I got a price from the "Big Box" for 2 insulated garage doors, and then went down the road to the local Garage Door guy.....big difference in price. As the local guy said, he supplies Big Box with their doors and they have to make money. Mine were Clopay, 12'x8, R17, 2" commercial, torsion, installed, $2,050. Your mileage may vary.

Considering my ceiling height and the angle of the ceiling joists to get the 12ft. ceiling with only 10ft. walls, they had to use hi-rise door tracks and overcome some geometric issues, so installation was a bit more than it would normally have been. Two openers installed were around 500 dollars each, and the doors were around 1300 installed. (wife did something with invoices and I can't find them) but they were under 2500 total as I recall...

Started stripping the electrical out of the front wall of the garage today. Next will be pulling the door openers. This weekend I plan to rebuild the wall.

Just put the first picture of this project in the refurb thread in my signature.
