Did some price matching and binge buying. Lowe's Dewalt 4.5 cut wheels and Irwin/Do It Best vise grip sale, via the Hot Deals section.

I should have a 1/2" drive Craftsman flex head ratchet in the picture. Once I ordered it online and picked up at the store, my thoughts were confirmed, made in China. I took it directly to the registered and returned it.

Love all those locking pliers. I gotta get out there and get me some of those too. Probably not as many though.

I didn't buy a thing today but got some gems thru a trade I have been working on for some time. The first picture is the empty tool board that International Harvester used in the 1923-1939 era of tractors. Think F-20, 15-30, W-30, etc. The second picture has all the tools I have on it. Missing something like 20 pieces but I am so happy just to be able to own this. I ended up trading a small tractor to him for this tool set and a home made post hole drill. Guess its a good deal when both parties are happy right!? The second pair of pictures are a seal driver set with tool board. I traded a Knipex nipper for this as I had 2 of them. I had a good good day.

I don't love them and would rather have to pay regular price for them if they were made in the USA. I kept a few pairs from an earlier purchase, they are in my tool box. One of each of these is going to a buddy for his son's enclosed trailer and I'll be selling the rest or giving away as gifts.

The china Vise Grips will get used when welding as I won't be worried about screwing them up or ruining them. The other pairs (USA) that I have won't be used when welding.

My biggest issue is when a company moves production overseas, gets it made for pennies on the dollar and the price stays the same. I avoid that stuff unless the price reflects the lower wages.

I thought the same thing but didn't want to be an ***. :D Although to be fair there aren't any easily-accessible USA vise grips.

You wouldn't be an ***, it's an honest question, which I tried to answer above. Everyone may not agree but it's just my personal belief.

As far as the USA Vise Grips, they are hard to find and are one thing I look for at swap meets.

Recent auction buy, $12.50 for the box lid that held the below. Bonney radiator pliers, Dunlap ratcheting box wrench, C-Man midget socket set I posted here earlier, Diamalloy 8" adjustable, Kraeuter flat-jaw pliers, mini cutter, body dolly : I'll use all of these, If I can flip the gas nozzle to pay for the box, I'm happy.

I agree its one of the items that really annoys me that I cant find made in USA. Plus its a tool that needs replacing occasionally. I bought a NWS and a Knipex from Ash here on GJ. I like them a lot and when I go to reorder more I will definitely buying German made ones since I cant find new US ones often.

Is that the metric set you posted about in the hot deal thread? How long did it take to get them? Do you like them? Are the hex ends nicely finished? germany or Czech Republic? Can't resist, need to get those....:willy_nil

I really havent used them for more than a few minutes. They are made in czech repbulic, the fit and finish is very good. It took about 2-3 business days for shipping.

Picked this up during the Made in the USA sale at Menards

Nice, but isn't it made in Spain? :headscrat Was it on sale? :dunno:

Picked up some accessories for my angle grinder and a roll of solder.
3M Flap Discs (60 & 80 grit)

Sweet, what is the retail price and best place to get those flap wheels? I need some new flap wheels my old dewalt ones are pretty well worn up a few grits.

Love the handles

:+1: I think I'm going to start saving for a ratcheting KK27, I just want to try those handles, they look so nice.

:rocker: Got new toy for my toybox. I loaned my BIL my tablesaw for a project he was working on and when he brought it back he said he had something that needed a good home. He said he was tired of tripping over this in his garage and wanted me to have it. Works great just needs to be cleaned up and best of all, FREE!

(I started a new thread by mistake when I should have posted here.)

I think the Irwin Chinese vice grips are a solid product but it also ticks me off the price didn't drop after moving production.

I really want to load up on different sizes/styles but no way I am paying what they want. Used USA and closeout sales are the way I am going to go.

atwageman, those are very handy, especially for plumbing.

Thanks! Last night before I went to bed, a NOS pair of 90 degree Wilde smooth jaws went up on eBay with a BIN price $10 shipped. I'll post those up when they arrive. No immediate need for those, but at the price, I wasn't gonna pass it up. Lol.

Just picked this up for $75 on eBay. Arrived last night and was surprised to see the excellent condition that these are in. Looks like they may have been used twice...maybe three times!
