I didn't realize I had a collectible here. Used to be my old man's. I've had it for over 30 years.

Very nice box Bill. Would you mind taking a photo of the drawer slides? Just slide one of the drawer out and take a pic of the side.

Here is a 1973 catalog excerpt for the box. They aren't as common as the 7 drawer craftsman in my experience.

I saved the picture so we don't loose it when the ad goes away.

Thanks Jake - I thought about doing that, too... but I'm at work (shhhh) and it seemed like too much work!

If I needed another machinist chest I'd be all over it, but I'd love to see someone on here dig it. I know there are plenty of socalers on here!

Wish I was 3000 miles closer :(

Here is my Crown Top Haul for the weekend. Spent $5 on the wet stone, compound and hand riveter, the first two are almost like new, used maybe once.

Decent little welder, but without the leads, over priced IMHO. You would be looking at ~$100 in just leads to get going, unless you already had them floating around your shop. Then you are up to $200, which is pretty high for a basic stick machine IMHO. Cool crown though.

I like the " The cables and electrode holder are cheap and easy to replace. "

Then he doesn't want any "low balls" so he goes with the scrap threat "Please don't waste our time trying to lowball me, or trying to buy it for scrap. I can separate the copper and steel and scrap the unit for roughly $75, so if it gets scrapped, it'll be by me. "

I was just trying to get the picture saved off since I've never seen one before, wasn't really considering buying it. Not sure if it's worth copying the other pictures or not.

Yea I understand, when I said "you" I was more so speaking in general, as to a perspective buyer. Just thinking out loud basically

Re: 1 for a dollar OR 3 for 2 dollars, Crown Top score!

Went to the flea yesterday and brought home some crown collectables. Enjoy and good luck.

Found a guard for my grandfather's Radial Arm saw at the flea market today. $2

I'll never use it, I have a table saw and a shaper to do moulding, but how often do you find 1960's plastic nearly new in the original box for two bucks these days ? I had to have it. :willy_nil

Found this pouch at an Estate sale today. It was so grimy that I couldn't read the print, I just saw the logo. It included 3 paddle bits. A Greenlee (w/ a twisted paddle), an Irwin, and an unmarked bit. After cleaning, it turns out to be a Cold Chisel set. I'll have to find out what sizes were in it and begin the search.

After doing the math, I paid $1.09 for it.

Scooby, your RAS looks like a 1966 model with the newer switch. I just picked up mine and it looks more like what is in the 1963 and '64 tool catalogs

I normally dont buy small tool boxes. I dont have a need for them but I picked this one up at a sale for a few bucks along with some other things. I don,t know much about Craftsman tool boxes, so I don't know how old this one is.

Cool box. I'm thinking mid to late 40's as well. Based on color, design and locks. But the top handle is throwing me off. Either which way, cool box, although it is technically not a crown top.

Mine has that same cabinet, but only the shell. Could you take some more pics of the cabinet. Like the back, bottom and drawers please? Thanks

I also have the same cabinet that I picked up recently, so here are some detail pictures for you. Your stand is a different model. This workstation doesn't have rails for the uprights or supports, it uses the formed side panels to support the structure. The back is just a flat panel of sheet. The top and bottom are pans that bolt in to the side panels. The front (and back corners) have a series of holes to be used to mount drawer slides, shelves, or door panels. This makes the case customizable depending on what accessories (drawers, shelf, doors) that you purchased separately.

The drawers slide on C-channel, no friction slides. The stop is a metal finger that is pulled out to engage the front mounting screw on the guide. The whole cabinet is held together with hex head sheet metal screws, no welds.

Eventually, I'd like to find a donor unit, so I can add more drawers to mine.

Technically, this isn't a Crown Top logo. I believe the flying V logo was used for a short time after in the early 70's, before the rectangular Sears/Craftsman logo, but I could be wrong.

There is a brochure for this available on the web somewhere. If I can find it, I'll add a link.

Scooby, I agree with jakemac. Your cabinet is probably a later model rolling cart with lockable wheels. jakemac's is the same as mine with two drawers. Mine also has the lock down castor wheels.

If it is any help, I just scanned the instruction sheets for my Utility Stand (#10307) and Drawers (#10327). They apparently came as separate pieces. The stand is only one page and the drawers are two pages

Add another to the collection, this one definitely won't be leaving it. Happy Birthday to me, my buddy just bought a new house and found this in the attic above the garage. Gave it to me as a birthday gift.

A good bit of local racing history on this box. Hatfield(Hatfield, PA) Dragway closed in 1966, and Vargo (Perkasie, PA) closed in 1969. Atco is still there in NJ (where I usually go to race), and Maple Grove is still there as well. Can not wait to clean and clear coat this one!

This wooden handle Crown label pruning shears was in a tub of tools I bought from a pawn shop.

The 3/8 drill I picked up in Florida a few weeks back. Works fine. $1
