Nice score on the puller cabinet. I love people who blow things out at good prices even though they're worth more. That means they know the time to sell is when they have a buyer standing there!

9Four, I always crack up when I see an axe head that has been mounted upside down! Nice scores!

That Stanley vise is an oddball. does it tilt/swivel? looks like a model makers vise.

Great finds all. LOL Matt, looks like it was really vise, hammer and pliers day for you.  Toomanytoyzz, awesome cabinet and contents. Great birthday present, happy B-day, in advance.

Weather is getting pretty chilly here, drastically fewer signs for sales. I was surprised when I found a few garage sale signs on the way home this afternoon. 1st stop was the worst. Said they just sold "A box full of tools for $30"!!! Nothing special, but quite a few things I've needed. $10 total. Not pictured is a brand new small pump up pesticide sprayer for a pressure bleeder build, and a can crusher, both included in the $10 total.

I knew there was something off with it but it did not hit me that it's upside down until you pointed it out. :lol_hitti

The Stanley is pretty tight, it's infinitely adjustable with a locking swivel ball design.

You guys all rocked it, all y'all! Dave did it big as usual! Matt, love the stapler and Starrett!! Only stopped at one yard sale this weekend, found a few tools, most I will resale. The proto 1/2 ratchet is a little rough, looks like it had rusted and some one wire wheeled it, the 3/8 ratchet is a John Deere, and the 1/4 inch socket set is a klein, but it has the p/o name engraved into them... Rich...

Season's over around here. Going to try an auction for the first time tonight.

Only ended up with one thing, cost me $7.

IMG_6767.JPG

Weird mix of sockets, mostly craftsman. There's a Plvmb 1/4" t-bar (4785), a snap on 1/4" extension, snap-on 1/4" swivel, a Proto adapter, a Williams bit socket, a New Britain spark plug socket, and a Wera triple square socket. Not sure why no one else went for it, the other tool boxes in the place went for way too much. Got outbid on a crusty AC Delco sign. Nine4, they had a master clock there and it went for $17.:dunno:

I forgot, there's a set of 1/4" sockets with no name on them. The part numbers are S1-S7 and they have two indents around them that look like they have knurling in them. Any ideas?

I also didn't do a good job looking at the toolboxes themselves. I saw one guy get a great looking 'Stevens Walden' toolbox that I've never seen before (and can't find anything like it online), and there was a yellow toolbox with a racing strip and a snail with tires on it. No idea who made that one either.

Thanks zkling:thumbup:!! I was so stoked after scoring the cabinet. I've never seen one for sale anywhere.

Always looking to trade my friend. PM me with something interesting. We seem to have similar tastes.

I did some investigating and it looks like the German and Russian had straight closing straps as opposed to the 'Y' shaped straps on these. Whatever they are, they're nice.

:wtf: They came from a russian or soviet mosin kit. Almost all of the German pouches were strait straps, unlike the Russian and Soviet which were Y shaped, just like those pictured.

https://www.google.com/search?q=rus...0#q=mosin+nagant+ammo+pouch&tbm=isch&imgdii=_

I knew there was something off with it but it did not hit me that it's upside down until you pointed it out.

Could the "something off" be that it is missing a small chunk out of the handle? :dunno: Seriously 10¢? Great deal.

The last picture is a Swivel Knife for cutting detail into leather. Your index finger hooks over the fork to put pressure on the blade, while your thumb and forefinger turn the knife to follow a curve or detail.

I'm not familiar with the brand. I would guess medium quality. Better than what I got at Tandy Leather back when they still existed. Nice.

Tandy Leather is still very much in existence. My niece works at one of the stores.

Not up here, unfortunately. They fell off the map in the mid to late 90's. I tried to find them online for a while and then gave up. I don't do leather work anymore, but I'll try to remember to look again. It's always good to have a source on stand-by. Thanks.

zkling,
My mom bought my dad a belt sander llike that in the mid 60's. I don't think he ever used it. But I used it a lot over the years and just a few years ago I finally wore it out and called Sears and there were no more parts availble for it so I bought a good used Makita. I got over 40 years out of that sander.

Thanks jpickar, that is good to hear. Honestly it was a whim purchase. I've ran into a few instances where a portable belt sander could be handy, just never could justify purchasing one new. When I saw it for $2, I figured i couldn't loose much. I don't think it has been used much, it runs super smooth and tight. Unfortunately they didn't have any belts for it.

Nice stuff acmech. What size drive are those cman pro screwdrivers? Great plomb stuff. Are those bottom 3 wrenches the same? How many 11/16 does a guy need? Did you purchase them all from the same place?

I had a lean weekend this week. Yard sales are winding down for the winter, but the flea markets are still doing ok for a few more weeks.

As I posted earlier, Sat was spent running around to yards sales that didn't carry the tools that they had listed on their CL ads. There was only one Girl Scout yard sale in my area on Sunday, needless to say, they didn't have anything that I was interested in. Went to the Flea Markets instead. I still didn't find anything to get exited about though.

Pic #1 - Saturday yard sales
Starrett Micrometer in original case - $10
Williams USA 11/16" wrench, stamped #3 - $1

Pic #2 - Sunday flea markets
Craftsman commemorative logo pin set in plastic case - $10

Some old stuff and a couple of whatizits.

Stanley tape measure from a 1951 promo event, some sort of anvil attachment for finer work?, an interesting pair of duckbill pliers, UTICA #31, that has a little pin for grip, an old push button counter , Wiss cutter, and vintage draw knife.

Anyone know what the duckbills are for?

Craftsman tool box - $60 ...........in great condition just needs some minor clean-up. Not a you **** deal but very fair considering the condition. Can anyone date the box ? also trying to get an idea of what top box may have gone with it in the day.

:scared:  GTFO, YOU ****!!!

That craftsman box is very nice as well. From the very late 50's into possibly the beginning of 1960. It has the older drawer handles, but newer crown top logo.

I had to work this morning, didn't get to the flea market until 1:30 pm and by then about half the sellers had cleared out. Anyways, the few things I snagged:

pic 1: USGI .50 cal ammo can from WWII. The lot number is 50s or 60s, but the can is WWII, perhaps is was a repack, which used to happen often. Outside has some dirt and rash, inside is pristine. $1

pic 2: Lot of 15 license plates, from West Virginia, Virginia, New Jersey and New York, including a few pairs. $10 for the lot.

pic 3: all for $8
caulking gun from American Hardware
timing gear I plan to use in a industrial lamp project
Craftsman 1/2-drive socket
Romex cutting tool
chain pliers
parallel pliers and nippers, dated 1892

pic 4:
closeup of the parallel pliers and the chain pliers, I love old vintage tools.

I thought the crown top logo was 70's era:dunno:? Maybe it ran through the late 50's into the 70's?

zkling/bluebolt,

Thanks for the info on the Craftsman. I looked through some of the Craftsmans catalogs on Roseantiquetools website but did not see this particular style. Like zkling alluded to I think it is somewhat of a mixed style at least from what I gather looking at the catalogs..

zkling, I googled the Snap-On box and looked at Flea-Bay................wow ..........people are just nuts.............. just goes to show you.......most everyone has their "thing" that they are into

Not sure what you are basing suckage off but in my opinion I would award major suckage for sure! Very nice shape for a lowly $60!

WNYflyer, excellent job on the KR-65! I picked one up cheap at a garage sale years ago, just coated with old gas and oil. Couldn't believe it when the guy said "I dunno, a buck?"

Couple goodies from a Saturday garage sale.

Hit two Sunday outdoor fleas that always crack me up.

Most sellers are reasonable, some think they have gold, and then you have my weekly guy that likes to charge $1 a socket and $2 a wrench for C'man stuff but the Williams, S-K, Snap-On and Mac sockets are 50 cents each and $1 a wrench when he finds it.

Okey dokey. I'm kewl with that.

Big box came around $10 with goodies like SK and Cman 10" adjustable for a buck each. Same with c'man wrenches. Arrows swivel head pop rivet tool for a buck. 8" Diamond USA adjustable.
Needy hammer that maybe Outlaw can ID. Stanley USA tho.
Hole saw set plus extras.
BIG *** Simonds USA file with Lutz USA handle. Nearly new.
Irwin chalk.

GS was some orphan tools. Williams, S-K sockets and a hong kong made 1/4 drive wacko ratchet and a Husky USA 1/4 QR with pin release. Many are OLD C'man including underline C sockets. $5 for all.

Last was the I <3 C'man guy.
Diamond Calk and Horseshoe Co adjustable for jeffmoss26 that needs a soak.
It's a baby adjustable. LOLZ. Proto USA for $1. Sure. MAC 3/4 in combo for $1. Why not.

I needed the big wrenches for backup and the sweet S-K wanye 3/8 breaker bar in the pic paid for the buy. $10 for all.
I LOVE those S-K stubby 3/8 breaker bars.

I do have to say again that that file is one BIG *** file.

Hahahahaha.

Not a hateful weekend with an easyish payoff.
Booya.

:)

Just got back from a Taylor tool sale Craigs List ad and I emptied out Rocky from the sales I"d hit over the last few days. Just picked up the Proto Pro SAE & metric wrench sets, the SK metric sockets, one Snap-on socket, SK 3/8dr and Williams 1/2dr ratchets and a Mitutoyo dial indicator. The other day I got the Snap-on dial torque wrench at a garage sale. The Heller file set, the stones and other Mitutoyo from an estate sale. I think I screwed the pooch on the Mitutoyo mic in the closed wooden box because when I bought it I just took a quick look and put it in the bag. Upon closer inspection it's missing the barrel... but the box is really nice.
