I'd say $1200 to $1500 if 30" deep. I can't tell if if is a 24" deep 761 or a 30" deep 7000. $750 would be my top price for a 761.

I don't know much about the newer boxes, but if it works like it should the $1500 price seems fair I guess. :dunno:

bob, it is a 60"x24" box.

What price are you paying? I have a habit of stealing boxes on CL so I'm a bit jaded. I would jump on a 1022 or any 30" box for 1500. For a 24" box, it would take less than a grand to make me consider. But that's just me an I'm cheap.. But would pay a little more to help a friend out

It was a simple question, the entire situation seems kinda sketchy. Don't get pissy just because I caught it.

That's a krl 761b. I sold mine for 2000. No wooden snap on top. Its a solid box and you'll be happy with it.

Implicit in the tone of your thread was that you were soliciting opinions for making an offer on the box. Instead, you've made a deal to buy it and it appears you're looking to assure yourself you got a great deal by asking us what we'd pay.

Next time, skip the ego trip and just post pics after you buy it. :wtf: :D

:dunno: Just going off what the seller posted. Maybe they measured over the handle or something. I have no doubt you are correct compared to the average Cl ad.

I know just saying. I had one for a year and didn't like the skinny drawers.

That is a very bold statement. What all boxes are you comparing it against?

Having bought some boxes in the past I would look at the slides pretty close if I where you. You might actually want to take them off and really clean the with a soak in something, that body shop dust takes a toll on the bearings.

Nice buy, good luck.

Nice box, good deal  I don't see many butcher blocks on the used market.

That butcher block will do just fine for preparing cold cuts on.

:+1: I noticed that too. From one guys kitchen to the other. Metric wrenches upper right drawer, forks knives and spoons upper left.

You guys are funny!!

The box is 24 inch deep. The 29 inch deep have the spring loaded wheels.

You got a u **** deal on that box. As a reseller, I would have bought it,,,,even though my inventory is long right now. Used retail would be about $2000 in my store.

Looks to be about a dozen drawers so $300 in slides, $160 in castors, 9 sheets of 20 gauge and a gallon of paint.About $850 plus labor. How much is a Craftsman these daze ? I never understood guys paying the price of a newer used car for a tuckin' foolbox.

Guy said he paid $1000 plus $50 for delivery. A craftsman that size would be the same money and no where near the quality of the box. I don't get your point.

Now if you were referring to the new price, you have a more valid point.

But, a flat rate mechanic is paid on production. If his tools are organized, he can make more money so a big box can pay for itself. Plus you won't find a Cman box that will hold up to long term pro use. Not to mention, some folks like to have nice stuff and take pride in ownership. I'm sure there are nice things you own or would like to own that others would find a foolish waste of money. To each his own.

Now if you wonder about young mechanics who have big boxes and no tools, I wonder about that myself. Invest in the tools first and the big box as your career progresses. Plus as your career progresses, you hopefully make more money and can afford a bigger box.

Now to tool box wars in dealerships,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,we are on the same page there:eyecrazy:

Seriously? Does that include the older BB boxes? Is their profit margin that high that they can afford to do that? :shocking:

You might get them swapped out if you have a dealer. I called cust service for my KRA boxes. I bought one and he sent me the other 5 for " free". Took some doin though. They said if they didn't have a record of me buying slides or a box , they wouldn't warranty them. So he said buy one so it's on record and swap them out under that one...not exactly honest, but it was his idea...

Do the modern boxes still use Accuride slides like the late 80's, early 90's boxes did?
