Looks to be about a dozen drawers so $300 in slides, $160 in castors, 9 sheets of 20 gauge and a gallon of paint.About $850 plus labor. How much is a Craftsman these daze ? I never understood guys paying the price of a newer used car for a tuckin' foolbox.
Guy said he paid $1000 plus $50 for delivery. A craftsman that size would be the same money and no where near the quality of the box. I don't get your point.
Now if you were referring to the new price, you have a more valid point.
But, a flat rate mechanic is paid on production. If his tools are organized, he can make more money so a big box can pay for itself. Plus you won't find a Cman box that will hold up to long term pro use. Not to mention, some folks like to have nice stuff and take pride in ownership. I'm sure there are nice things you own or would like to own that others would find a foolish waste of money. To each his own.
Now if you wonder about young mechanics who have big boxes and no tools, I wonder about that myself. Invest in the tools first and the big box as your career progresses. Plus as your career progresses, you hopefully make more money and can afford a bigger box.
Now to tool box wars in dealerships,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,we are on the same page there
