Went to pickup a non working Rock-ola CD jukebox off of local Craigslist located in sellers over stuffed storage unit. I picked up this vice for an extra $25. She looks like she'll clean up nice. I think this is one of those units made to mount on back of plumbing truck for working pipe.

I might be wrong, but I think it's missing at least 1 drawer. I've seen similar carts with and without drawers in lower compartment. Low compartment has a rails placeholders for at least 3 drawers, but I am not sure if they were installed in this particular cart.

Picked up a pair of Craftsman lathes Sunday off of Craigslist. One is a 109.0702 and the other is a 109.20630. The smaller of the two is complete and in better shape than I thought from the pictures I saw. I was thinking it would at least need the bushings replaced and a new coat of paint. Nope! Everything seems pretty tight and all it should need is a good cleaning. The larger of the two is pretty bare bones. I haven't checked the spindle on that one yet. But if its not bent or sloppy, it wouldn't take a lot to make a second functional machine out of it. Also got a box with a four jaw chuck, a pair of live centers and dead centers, plus an extra gear box cover. He was asking $350 but took the $300 offered.

Not the deal of the century, but I feel good about it.

Is that Beach box missing some drawers? Wonder if you can find / order replacements? Or make them.

They were made with a full set of drawer tracks in the cabinets, and sold with a varying number of drawers so that you could add on or mix and match.

I went to an estate sale today. Those people are animals. It was more like a WWE event. There was one box of hand tools in the garage, mostly imported junk, but I was able to grab one or two decent pieces. I also accidentally grabbed some junk, oh well. I did see a nice 12"x16" kennedy machinist's box go out the door before I could grab it, I didn't hear what it went for. I only spent $13, so it wasn't too bad.

Awww, Jake you ****, heck you basically bought a piece of stock and got a few free tools. Those visegrip bar clamps are turning up everywhere recently. Please post some pics of the hammer, maybe the PO was a machinist?

IDK if these will help, but here they are. I couldn't find any markings on it, not even with a magnifying glass. Nothing under the plastic tips either.

It's a hefty little hammer. I'll clean up the tips and find something to whack with it eventually.

IDK what the PO did for a living, he passed and the kids were selling off the house. I didn't see any shop equipment. If he had any shop tools, the kids must have cleared them out before the sale.

Went on the Webster Parish Louisiana Main to Main garage sale event. Drove around 140 miles in a big circle but no outstanding tools scores this time like I have had in the past. Had a good time, ate some good food, ran into some friends I know from the garage sales.

Wilton USA 1750 vise, decent shape, needs new jaw inserts. In good shape, I just replaced the bent 1/2 carriage bolts for the swivel hold-downs. Get some new jaws and try to make a few bucks off of it.

Good deal. No prob. Just keep it clean, dry and don't try to cut 1/2" plate with it and you should get a good life out of it.

IDK how the handle fits the head, I assume that it is threaded, but it's tight and I don't want to force it since I don't need to take it apart. The tips just screw on.

The knurling on the handle is still sharp and crisp.

That is slick. Yea I am almost sure that is home made. I BET, but could be wrong that the main head body is a press fit onto the shaft. A threaded on hammer head wouldn't be very good. (wack twist, wack twist ). Clean those heads up a little and you should be good to go. Thanks for the pics

The small machine came w/ a set of gears on the machine. The other is missing the selector. Right now I'm working on setting up a decent motor mount and motor for it. I sold my Chinese mini lathe to sponsor the purchase of these machines. I understand these have limitations, but there is something to be said about style! I hope it was a good idea. These older lathes in decent shape don't come up often or inexpensively for this area. The mini from China can always be replaced from Harbor Freight 20 miles away.

I'm seeing the "Rule and Level Co." and I'd bet there is a "Stanley" in front of that.

Leavens Co. of Vineland, New Jersey in 1911, and introduced two new lines of vises named Stanley "Jersey" and Victor "Jersey" to make use of the familiar Leavens' "Jersey" vise name. When Stanley made their big internal merger and introduced the Sweetheart logo in 1919, they also dropped the "Jersey" name and began casting the Stanely name in the side of their vises. A few years later they also added the model number to the side of the vise. By 1929 they started to pare down the number of vises they offered, and did the same in 1934, then again in 1939 (although they also introduced 3 new styles of vises in 1934 that were much cheaper to produce)"

No rust all the brown you see wipes off with your finger. Just 40 year old garage dust and grime.

The vintage high brow hipster antique fleas get $20 to $30 out of them.
Generic of the same net $2 to $5 or so at garage sales, sometimes a bit more but always in worse shape.

I can't gauge length but if put to use it's a great buy.

I guess the metal lined "draw" was a rinse basin for whatever chemicals jewellers use to swill off/brighten jewellery.
You might want to scrub that very well to make sure nothing nasty b(acids) is left over in the seams.

Part 1 of 2

Went to an estate sale this morning that said it had tools. When I got there, all the tools were in one sealed box with "do not open" and "$50 FIRM" tags on it. I bet it's still there when the house sells.

The second sale was a barn sale, when I pulled up the clouds parted, the sun shone through, and birds were chirping. It was a dirty, rusty, cluttered slice of heaven. The sale was poorly advertised (I found it by accident), or the pickers would have swarmed it and clawed for blood. I was there an hour when they opened and only saw 3 other people. There were stray locks, keys, and clock gears all over the upstairs room. Downstairs had piles of old wrenches, 3 wood lathes, 2 scroll saws (Atlas, Dunlap) a Power King 8" table saw, stray motors for the shop tools, and the item in my next post. Not to mention all the other stuff piled up. The owner was in his late 80's and moving to a smaller house he had built. I spent $30 for the stuff in this post, I didn't haggle, he seemed to need the money.
