hmmmm........it said $6.95 shipping to my zip then tried to add $14.35 for shipping and handling. i'll pass for $40.

I have never ordered from there, I was going to but it was out of stock and I sgined up for the alert, I'd pass also at $40.

* I just tried it, I used the drop down menu and chose First Class, my total was $31.94

Dang, that's a good deal. Thanks for the head's up. Just purchased one. I had to pay a total of +$9, for shipping and CA tax.

I pay taxes to the state, and Arnold spends it on **** I don't use, things I don't believe in, and stuff I think is immoral.

I don't own any 'dedicated' style nut drivers (well, just one), but I like to use SO ratcheting drivers with hex-bit-style nut drivers instead. That's where the ratcheting really comes in handy.

I have one already... but mine was a lot less than $40 at a pawn shop. That, and mine came with a nice "limited edition" green splotch of paint on it :lol:

First time I've ever seen a 12v retailer selling snap on. Wish i would have seen that sooner.

It is because they are Rockford Fosgate branded ratcheting drivers... Being that sonixelectronix is one of the nastiest transippers known to man, they probably got a really good deal on leftovers from Rockford.

Still a good price if you can get past the Rockford labeling on the side.

Another thing I noticed, I have 2 old green handle versions, that have a flat green rubber washer on the cap that are the whole size of the bottom of the cap, but the new one just has a black o ring on the cap, not to say it makes a difference, but i liked the flat rubber washer that was made in the same color, just made the cap feel better when you tightened it tight.

Ok.. showed up today... here's some pics for those wondering.
The RF logo is silk screened on obviously after the fact... its a darker gray color so it somewhat "blends" with the rest of the handle. With some use it'll probably start to rub off. or if you are adventurous I'm sure a little light sanding or picking with your nail would make it come of.. or just cover it with some dirt n grease ;)

Ends of the boxes... unmarked on the "color" box..
G = Green?
O = Orange
P = Purple??
R = Red
Y = Yellow

The way the logo is.. I almost wonder if RF had them sent out somewhere else and screened. Maybe purchased in bulk from S/O as promo pieces and then they handled the silk screening. The logo not stamped into the handle at all. Anyways.. there ya go! Certainly worth the $$ I have $62 in two of them shipped to my door. I'll probably give one away to a friend of mine as a christmas gift.

Thanks for the pics; I am still yearning for my old "day glo/frog green" one that I had a long time ago, it wore out and my dealer gave me one of the new ones... which for some reason I hate! Am I the only one who doesn't like the new ones? I would love to find a green one! :)

After getting a confirmation of my order on 12/18 (paid via paypal), I got this nice email from them on 12/19:

This message confirms that your Order ID: 462340 has been canceled.
In regards to your refund, please note that if you made any payments
towards your order, these will be reimbursed to you and will be
available on your card or PayPal account within 2-3 business days from
the time we issue the refund.
If it has been over a week and the funds are still to be seen credited,
please contact our Accounts Department at 661-257-9993 ext 294. Our
representatives will be happy to assist you. Our business working hours
are Monday- Friday, 9 AM- 5 PM Pacific Time.

To be clear, I did not cancel it...they did, for reasons they didn't care to discuss. I like their "if we don't refund, then it's up to you to get your funds back" attitude, with no apology or explanation given.

Judging by the sequence of postings to this thread, I'll be curious if orders made after mine are delivered, or abruptly cancelled. Krusty beware.

I have never heard of anyone shipping a package in such a matter. Sounds like they are doubling their shipping costs by using two carriers.

If he is shipping to a PO Box UPS will not deliever to a PO box.. therefore they probably pass it off via this contract co to the USPS. Also there is a possibility that he lives in a remote enough area that UPS does not service him. I haven't seen this problem in quite awhile though... we used to run into that with FedEx but its been ages since that was a problem as well.

But why would they just up-and-cancel my order? It's not like I bought the last one or anything....from the postings here, looks like Krusty did!

And yes, my PayPal payment went through, the money's gone out of my account. And no, it's not been refunded.

Is refunding PayPal so complicated it takes days to do? I generally can issue a refund in a couple of seconds...less time, for example, than it takes to write an email saying "Your order has been cancelled."

AND: when I refund a PayPal payment, there is no 3-day waiting period between the time I refund, and before the funds show up in the other person's account. What kind of doubletalk is that?

:mad:

UPS used the US Mail to deliver small packages that it is more expensive to send a truck to the delivery point than it is to hand it over to the post office. This is quite common during the Christmas season when UPS is swamped with packages. My UPS driver drops off local packages at the Post Office that are very small and light. Paying the first class postage is a lot less than sending the UPS truck. He drops them first thing in the morning, and many times they are delivered the same day.

Follow up:

After 5 calls to Sonic Electronics (during their business hours) and waiting on hold for a half hour, I finally got to speak to a customer representative at Sonic. He looked through my order and said, "Yes, you were one of the earlier people to order, let's see, why did you get kicked out of the que ... ah, here it is, there is a '#' sign in your address. That's illegal, so your order got cancelled."

I said, OK, substitute the word "number" for "#" and ship it.

He said: "We're all out of those and won't be getting any more.

I said, how about you order another one and send it to me.

He said: "We don't really sell tools."

I said, OK, how about issuing a PapPal refund?

He said: "Those take 3 or 4 days."

I said, that's interesting, when I issue a PayPal refund it's instantaneous.

He said: "Well, uh..."

I said, Can I speak to a manager?

He said: "I am the customer service manager."

OK, good bye!
