I think Garage sale season is officially over here. :(

Only one listed today at a campground and it turned out to be nothing more than a bunch of people selling Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations and craft supplies.

Good scores Matt, no sales here due to weather and the holidays approaching. We are nearing the end of our season too but should have a couple more estate sales to round out the year(I hope). I know we have at least two more good auctions before xmas, usually a good time to go cause most people are out store shopping...

Dang, Matt and Madison, you both ****. Very nice stuff at very good prices.

I went to one garage sale today and I did good considering it was tools I've been looking for!

:+1: I feel you on that. It's great to find a good deal, even sweeter when it is something you have been needing and looking for. Very nice finds. Yep, that looks to be a flywheel holder/turner. Great if you ever do small engine or outboard work.

madison069, YOU ****!!! great score, post up what size Proto you are missing, I may have one.

I had a hole that needed filling since there was no garage sales so we stopped by the pawn shop and I finally struck a deal on the other Craftsman cantilever I've been looking at. They were asking $49.95 plus tax but I got out the door for an even $50 with the other things below. I plan to swap all the guts over to the Kennedy cantilever and sell it to cover keeping the Craftsman box.

Williams gasket scraper, 1" Craftsman, Proto combos and large snap ring pliers!

Nothing today but an old and beaten Power Master 760 air rifle for $5. Same place has slabs of hardwood for half off tomorrow so I might drop in and get a couple for the tops of the roll around boxes. Short of that, no sales happening here. Only bought the rifle to fill the void. The thrill is gone...

That anvil, both anvils: major score.

Madison069, you have a lot of suckage happening there. I have the same flywheel wrench that I've carried around since school back in the 90's. Handy for jockeying things around like big chucks on massive lathes.

Looks like it's the deep socket 12 point 10mm 3/8" drive that I'm missing.

Curious, why is it I never see a 16mm in a set? My ranger has several 16mm bolts so it just don't make sense!:lol_hitti

Forgot to mention it was 3/8" drive!

Had a spare couple of hours this morning so went to a carboot and came back with a decent haul....
View media item 35382
4 x G-clamps and a C-clamp £3
Another set of Draper Spanners £5
MASSIVE Spanner £1 (thinking of using it as a shed door handle)
Small WESCO Oil Can £1.50
Old Safety Googles £2 A bit of a gamble as they were caked in grease from the bottom of a bucket but 5 mins with some rags and polish and they are perfect!...and yes I do look ridiculous wearing them!

I know GJ like vices so...
View media item 35381Small Jewellers Vice (1 centcoin for scale) £2 No makers marks of any kind but pretty well made and everything aligns/moves easily.

And finally a true "steal";
As the woman was trying to explain to a pair of middle-eastern men what these were and how they work I walked up to the table, they asked how much and whilst they discussed it between themselves and tried to barter I said "deal!".
View media item 35379Not very gentleman like but this is a Black&Decker VersaPak, cordless drill, screwdriver, jigsaw and torch set for......£20!:willy_nil
The batteries hold charge and are currently being fully charged now and all the items function. The set is only missing the "snake" torch and some drill bits, other than that it looks very lightly used.
It certainly isn't a professional set of tools but will be useful around the apartment.

a good day

My old (early/mid 70's?) Craftsman set of Combo wenches also skipped the 16. but my MAC 6 pt socket set from the same period did not, so Craftsman tried to map to the common sizes, Where MAC, a pro supplier, did not...

I think the std metric nuts and bolts managed to skip that size, I know the European and Japanese approach to "std" or common metric use is different. maybe the 16 is a large pattern in a particular size that the Japanese/Mazda/Ranger used? :dunno:

Crosman made a 760 as well. Got some pics?

Thanksgiving week is slow for sales and auctions. Always is. I don't understand why there aren't more auctions and sales on weekends when 9-5 types aren't at work. Clearly, things work the way they work...

$25, heck yea. I'm pretty sure that is from Wilton's Taiwan line. It's a decent drill press, standard big name off shore job. For $25 if it runs, you can't go too wrong.

Cold and windy today. Wind chills in the teens and single digits. Not good for bargain hunting.

I went to two flea markets today, just to see if anyone set up. The first has 200 spaces, but only 10 tables were set up. They were spaced all over the property instead of in one spot, it was very sad and lonely.

Pic #1 - $20
Eureka bronze hammer
Small brass hammer (marked TAFX2A) EDIT - a 3oz gunsmith's hammer (?) listed in a 1942 Ordanance Field Manual here: http://archive.org/stream/Fm9-10/Fm9-101942Obsolete_OrdnanceFieldManualOrdnanceFieldMaintenance_djvu.txt
Small unmarked body hammer
40oz (?) Cobbler's hammer head (marked C^^C--------------2)

All cleaned and polished already! This seller also had a 4" Prentiss vise with a big chunk out of the slide for $20 and a Craftsman #51xx 3 1/2" vise for $15. I should have picked up the Cman, but was too cold to think straight. :dunno:

The other FM was even more pathetic. All the Chinese Knock-off sellers from New York were set up, but there were only 5 or 6 other tables set up. Only one with tools, mostly junk from the floor off someone's garage.

Pic #2 - $9
Channellock #347 Linesman's pliers (stamped)
Channellock #546 pliers (stamped)
sm. Utica round nose pliers (laser etched)

Winter is definitely shutting things down up here. I'm already going through withdrawl. :willy_nil

Had an OK weekend for this time of year. The auto diagnostic is all Niehoff brand, so much cooler (and bulkier) than a multimeter:pimpflash The Craftsman set is all late 40's U series. Last is a Star lathe.

It is a Crossman. It's in very sad shape but it will give me something to tear apart indoors when the snow hits.:)
