I started to read this thread and made a run to Sears. Unfortunately, they couldn't price match but could order it online. I had checked them out, they had 4 in stock, one of which was USA.

I ordered it at Sears, online at their terminal. Since it was an hour before closing, the order went through but I won't be able to get it till tomorrow. The new store owner had me put my name and phone number on it & set it in back. He will call me in the morning when the pick up confirmation comes through.

store pickup and mine was hecho in china. we checked the rest of the stock and no usa. guy working the counter acted like he got this a lot, so hopefully craftsman is getting the message.

i'll probably keep them. doubt i'll find a better set for $30, and i need them.

Finally remembered my issue, for whatever reason Sears.com does not like Firefox every now and then, had to use the IE add on to get it to work but finally was able to complete order, after using some points I got it for $27.

Supposedly have 10 in stock at my store. I most interested in using the Torx tips I go through the crappy quick use ones in a hurry. Between this and the 10 piece 3/8th sets that were $10 a month or so ago I have more 3/8th ratchets than I know what to do with now.

I put it on my Sears card and will pay it off when I get the bill if not before. It helped me save an extra 5% ($1.50).

I'm going to also watch the flier and grab a set of the socket holders too. I've had decent luck with the Cman sockets holders. The 2 pc set will be on sale for $3.99.

I think the issue is, it's not supposed to be on sale yet. The flier states the sale starts at 8 pm on Thanksgiving.

Just wait a few more days guys and get them ordered Thanksgiving evening. If you use your Sears card, I believe, you save an extra 5% which about covers the sales tax.

I ended up getting mine today. It was china of course but after some rooting around I was able to find a USA set. After 45 minutes of dealing with the idiot at the counter trying to explain that I just wanted to exchange the china **** for the USA stuff, I was finally able to get a good set.

As others stated the deal ended at Midnight, it was a pre black Friday thing.

Picked up my set the other day along with a shop vac. The shop vac was marked down to $70. It was a great value for the size and power (12 gal, 5.5 hp).

My bit set is made in China. I asked the guy if they had a USA set. He replied that they're all Chinese made now.

Gonna check again this Friday if they have a USA set at another store for me to swap out. Either way, I'll be keeping this set. My brother's stupid Audi requires these torx and external torx bits.

I went over to my local store. All the 42 piece hex sets in the center aisles with all the Black Friday merchandise is Made in China.

So I went over to the regular tool aisle, and they had three old sets on the locked hangers, that you need a sales associate to come over and unlock the hanger to pull the tools out. Two of those are China, but the one in the back with an inch of dust on it is Made in USA!

I'm pretty confident if I go back right when the sale starts again the USA set will still be there, and I'll have an associate unlock the hanger and tell them I want that one particular set.

The USA set is different than the China set, and easy to identify. The China set is a square plastic box with a flip down latch. The USA set is more rounded around the edges and has a slider latch.

Other than the 42 piece hex set (provided I get the USA set), there is basically nothing I am going to buy at Sears for Black Friday. I might get one or two Gladiator 30" boxes, but haven't decided yet.

For Thursday night, I'm kind of thinking about the 20 pc Gearwrench set for $50 (Page 52). The sets on display at my Sears look to all be from Taiwan rather than the Chinese replacements. I don't know that I'll really *need* ratcheting wrenches for school/my future work, but $2.50 per wrench is an awfully good deal.

Maybe one of the 8 gauge Diehard booster cables for $12.49 (Page 29), too. All I have in the truck is a rechargeable Black & Decker jump pack that I've had for years; I'm a little afraid the battery will give out.

The 20pc GearWrench set goes on sale regularly for $49.99.

The DieHard 8 AWG, 10' set have been on sale several times for $9.99, either at Sears or Kmart. The 6 AWG, 16' set goes for low as $14.99.

Thanks to the OP for the headsup. I paid online for instore pick up and got a made in the USA set. It's a really nice set. I thought the ratchet would be junk but it actually feels pretty good to me (I don't have Snap On standards). Glad to have gotten it for such a fantastic price.
