So I bought the SAE add on set, With that $25 advance auto coupon coming in on the 28th and the SAE reversibles going on sale for $29.99 on the 29th I will be able to get the 12pc reversible set for $40 total..

I like dat me!

Looks like we can't use the $25 code on the reversible sets. It's saying, "Sorry, as this product is already a great deal, it is not eligible for any further promotional discounts, coupons or special offers."

WHA? Those bastards.

Promotional codes and/or coupons apply to regular-priced merchandise only; sale and clearance items not eligible.

got my 1/4 inch impacts and reversible set today. I was worried when I seen the box. it was packed like **** and ripped open in several spots. I was worried I'd be missing items but they were their and in good shape still.

Got my stuff in today as well. The box mine came in was way too big, so some of the sockets were not in the right spot, but all was there. I'm a happy camper!

1/4" SAE Impact Set - Made in Taiwan (The ones that look darker just have more oil on them. The finish is very consistent on all of them)

Mike at Trident Supply is hooking me up with the Metric set. Thanks Buddy!

My bad on leaving out the new link.

I was also hoping for the bit set. I got the XL add on set to complete my smaller set I got on that deal from Sears a while back. I also got the flexible Allen key set. I really wanted that flare wrench set but would never use them.

Seems like when I compare the WOOT prices to what they have for sell on ebay, there isn't really a screaming deal.

I was looking at the 15 piece ratcheting screwdriver set. (GearWrench 8915D) $19.99 + $5 shipping on Woot.

Google shopping shows it at ~$40 everywhere else. 1/2 off seems like a decent enough deal.

Well, I'll be damned. The stuff I was interested in wasn't that good. 1/2 off is good!

didn't WOOT used to have unbelievably crazy prices? B/C for the last few months since I really started watching I haven't been too impressed.

That t-handle driver looks cool but it's odd that it comes with 4 shafts and none of them take 1/4 hex bits.

It's a socket driver it says, ie intended for 1/4 sockets :) Add a 890002 and you've got yourself 1/4 bit capability.

BUT.

The nice GearWrench screwdriver set is on sale often for $30 at Sears, which it is now. It has the t-handle, shafts, accepts 1/4 bits and includes them, and even has some sockets. I have two of them and they're great. Much better value!

They used to be bulk close out buys from where ever Woot could find them. Some really good stuff made it through, and also a lot of ****.

Ever since Amazon bought them, they are basically Amazon's close out arm. Some stuff makes it through at good prices, but the great killer prices are gone.

Sometimes the $5 shipping makes up for the prices though, especially on larger stuff.

That and success has ruined their business model. They used to have limited quantities and if the deal was good it would sell out by early morning.....and that was back when no one knew about them. Like any business, they want to be larger and it is a lot harder to find great deals when you also have to buy in huge volume.

I remember when the deals only came online at midnight and sometimes would not make it more than an hour.

This. ^^

I used to have a habit of checking Woot as soon as I woke up every morning in hopes that I wouldn't miss any smoking good deals.

Not really necessary anymore...but I still do it anyway lol.

Not really. That's pretty much the definition of a closeout/discontinue. If anything, buying in those larger quantities probably help them secure lower prices than fewer deals because it opens more deals with retailers.

If a retailer (or distributor) is only offering 100 of a closeout item they'd probably just keep it in house. If they have 10,000 sitting in their warehouse they'd probably wouldn't. Not that I use woot but that's pretty much what it is; cleaning out the warehouses.
