rohartman, WOW $5300 I had a cow when I paid $500 for an AIM system for my kart.
I'm not really complaining though, AIM has tremendous data logging equipment. I really like the unit I got for my kart.
I guess quality isn't cheap...

Replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator in my son's '05 Chev Cavalier. Thought I had the fuel line depressurized. Found out otherwise when the regulator came off the fuel rail. Got sprayed right in the puss. Lesson learned!

Made a little progress on the workstation this weekend. One of the dual 56” benches is complete and hopefully the corner cabinet below will be done by tomorrow.

Also started to patch some walls in order to paint so that I can start to set the benches in place.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

I am constantly using the wet vac from the same problem. I hate it.

I decided to clean up my garage walls after collecting banners, photos, decals and a lot of other **** over 15 years. I kept anything that meant something to me and put it on a couple of cardboardish panels that came with my Crapsman box a couple of years ago. Then I covered it with lexan. Now I still have the few things I wanted to keep and it should be much easier to clean the walls periodically. I did this all last week before my wife had her back surgery this week.

That is looking like a really cool project.

I did some more deep cleaning and rearranging of the garage. No photos yet, but it is looking a lot better. I was able to reclaim one entire wall back! 95% done out there with the cleanup.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

I am doing something in my garage constantly.... but this week more than ever. See... I have a 1 car wide by 1.5 car deep VERY old garage (my house was built in 1910) so you can imagine,

I have never owned large garages and I am very good with small spaces, and in my garages, I have at least a couple motorcycles, a street rod or other project, rollaways, bike lift, drill press lathe, sander, bench, etc. 20+ years of single car garages has made me a space pro :)

I recently sold my lathe so I can make room for a 2 post car lift.... when you have small garages, every square inch is valuable real estate.

So... what did I do in my garage today? I have a TON of old nasty wood in my rafters... something I never wanted to deal with, and today, I decided to deal with it. I figure the rafters are valuable space I have never used, so by the time the weekend is over.... I will be storing **** up high, a place I have never thought as usable space... until now.

I will take pics and post.... or even better, I'll start a thread in the gallery.

Ohh... and I am rewiring the whole thing on Monday. So... lots going on in the garage today!

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

I remembered how little I enjoy working upside down underneath dashes and how old I am. Luckily, bc of the winter weather I had a few extra layers on so it wasnt too terrible. Not sure which will have me more sore in the morning, working under the dash or shoveling snow.

In reality, I popped the dash apart on her 68 Mustang, chased down an issue with the oil pressure gauge wiring, shinied up a few parts, and ran the engine for a few minutes til one of the carb spacer gaskets started leaking.

I learned, once again, the absolute joy that comes from working on my car using good quality mechanics gloves.

Why didn't I discover these twenty years and a thousand ****** knuckles / burned fingers ago?

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

Got all the current stickers on both snowmobiles ( registration, trail permits) gonna ride tomorrow!

:rocker:

My ATV club is being pounded with requests about opening trails. Today is the first day our land access rights kick in and we are getting crazy amounts of snow. Enjoy, and ride responsibly!

This weekend I had to change the thermostat in the basement of the lake house. My feet were freezing so I went down to investigate and sure enough no heat. Got to it just in time, temp was around 5*c and I my pipes are all exposed. Used a space heater to accelerate the process. Boy did I notice the difference this morning when I work up!

Put the new wheel chair restraint system w/ shoulder and lap belt in my sisters van.

Fixed the rear door, the side door contact points and replaced the headlight switch on the same van, I need to keep this van in good shape since it's in my name.

I put some things away that I had used last weekend at my daughter's new house. A painted the entire thing inside.

Does anyone know an easy way to remove latex overspray from tools?

Changed the ignition key cylinder of doom on my 2000 Ford Focus !! It went way easier than I expected. The new key cylinder kit I got at Advance Auto is a better design so hopefully it will last longer.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

Though when I'm done I'll have made enough to probably fill up the 7-footer in the shop lol, I restrained myself to the small oven in the kitchen and spent the whole day baking Christmas cookies. Not done yet (just taking a short supper break), I've got 3 pounds of milk chocolate fudge and five different batches of cookies done so far.

The Cookie **** will follow shortly. :D

Those close enough to PSC are welcome to stop by and pick up a plate -- just give me the head's up so I'll have one ready.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

Been remodeling my cargo trailer the past few weeks. Spent today just putting tools away and vacuuming up the saw dust and dirt I created in the shop.
Time now to start painting the cabinets and walls in the trailer. Will do the doors in the shop.

I worked on the granddaughters toybox for Christmas, adjusted the garage door and put a little insulation in the attic.

BTW, I edited the title of the thread and put "to" in caps to try to prevent confusion between these threads

This week had an backed up sewer pipe and in the process I found out the drain in the floor was attached to this sewer pipe, but because the drain was rusted and full of dirt I didn't smell anything. Well, when the cap came off it crumbled in my hand and I was left with a poor sealing cap on a drain I didn't really need, specially when it's smelling the garage up. So I took a ABS flat cap and put silicone in the inside to create a silicone seal, but I didn't put it on the drain yet. I'm letting the silicone cure and when it's cure I'll press it over the pipe that's sticking up in the drain to make a tight seal.

Hope this works, but won't get to try it til tomorrow when the silicone has finally set.

I ran in, grabbed a book of drawings for parts I need to machine. Ran back into the house to study them. Was pretty cold at the time.

I'll be heating the machine shop tomorrow as the wife is out of town and I have the day off. Going to make some new parts. I hope to get enough done to warrant taking and posting pics. Keith

Ooh. Pics of extinguisher mount?

I've got a square plate under the seat to reinforce the the whole thing. I think it's going to be shaking quite a bit and didn't want it to rip through the fiberglass in the bottom of the seat.

Last night I replaced all of the glow plugs in my 2006 Duramax and then started to break down my 2010 Wide Glide for some preventive maintenance and some cosmetic changes.

I packed up Friday's Powder **** for pending delivery to its owner in Ohio and rearranged a few things in the shop to accommodate an ancient but new-to-me Montgomery Ward powder storage freezer. (It was sitting outside my favorite machine shop looking lonely and unused when I dropped off Billy's tractor parts and it got to come home with me when I picked them up.) Anyway, here's the **** ... it's not likely anyone's going to get as excited about the old freezer as I am. LOL

For some reason this pic here -- my first ever custom alternator bracket :D -- is the most accurate color-wise out of the whole photo spread. The Corsair Gold looks MUCH more yellow than it really is but in reality is almost a dead-on match for Caterpillar yellow. You can see the customer's paint sample above the bracket.

And this morning, at long last, I get to start on my first Garage Journal customer's parts. :D Hmmmmm, let me say that a bit louder .... "Hey Larry!! It's finally your turn doll!!" Yeah, poor guy's been waiting on me for awhile. I hope to do it lots of justice.

Btw, that looks like Blackhawk in your garage link.

What gave it away, the beautiful scenery or the trash cans for crash barriers?? :lol_hitti

Yeah, as small and antiquated as it is, I have a soft spot for BHF. It favors suspension, momentum and driver skill over HP and it's got some really fun and rewarding turn complexes. Great track to learn on.

I'm living in Memphis now and there's no proper road course nearby that I know of. The speedway here has a couple turns, but from what I've heard it favors high HP cars. My buddy here (in his 415 HP Corvette) keeps suggesting we go. I'm sure I'll get out there eventually, but I miss being an hour from BHF and two from Road America.

Very cool!!

BMW sold a mount and extinguisher for my car. I've thought about coughing up the cash for one, but lots of guys have done exactly what you did for a very clean install at a fraction of the price.
