Very cool place!! Glad to see someone take something forgotten and repurpose it!! The space looks pretty sweet and fun to hang out in. Thanks for sharing.

Lovin' the character of the shop. The shoebox Ford has perfect lines and proportions.

Hey super cool place ya got there........I'm just across the way in Alton, IL and have been in your neck of the woods many times. In fact I bought a 1975 BMW 2002 from a guy that had it stored in a old factory (or warehouse) off of 55 right down by the river. Dude told me to follow him from a gas station and went on this very narrow winding barely 1 1/2 lane road til we got to the bottom by the river. Was NOBODY around but tons of old and somewhat newer (80s) cars/trucks sitting around outside. Went inside and was better stuff including what would eventually be my BMW. I'm sure there is a story about that place but I was busy being cautious as it was just me and him. Prolly not far from where your place is.

Great looking shop, I was down there a few weeks ago hitting Antique row with my wife and seen some bitchen rides parked outside the old Lemp. Looks like you guys have a great place, Keep it up, Would love to see more cool projects your working on.

Damn! How'd I miss this thread. I counted about about 200 uses of the word 'cool' in the previous posts but all I can seem to think of to say is COOL! Love the cars, the location and the vibe.

Got on here to find ideas for my own shop space and found this...wow! I visit StL. a few times a year. My sweetie's an Old North chick, up by Grand. I like architectural history and StL. is the place. She's pointed out your brewery to me before but I never thought what a cool scene was going on inside.
I spent a day on that end of Cherokee this summer, just digging the scene and thinking "Man what a fine looking 1880s house...what a perfect shop space..." You know.
I'm pleased to read that you don't listen to the "It's all dangerous" crowd, you are preserving that fine building in the best way, by making it a productive place.
By the way, get on the OWWM and OMWM sites for fantastic old machinery, I check their classifieds every week. Lots of StL. and rural MO folks on that site.
Keep us updated on your shop scene and builds, please.

Not to get too far OT here, but one of the things that shocked me about StL is the abandoned Carter carburator factory- it must be half a mile long, looks like an ancient ruin now. I keep thinking about the thousands of people employed there, and how the spent their checks and made StL a really good city.
So...GM didn't see that fuel injection was coming? They couldn't remodel and re-equip the old factory? Carter thought carbs would go on forever? Or is it that GM wanted cheap foreign labor?
Any way driving by there makes me think of all the AFBs on all the SBCs that are runnin the roads of the earth...all from this vast abandoned building...
So thanks for using the old brewery, you are doing a small but important thing up there...

Where is the Carter factory in relation to the Lemp? Would love to check it out.

Be nice to have another new contact. PM me your info if you like. Always good to have another set of eyes to look out for deals on materials/tools etc.

I did a hardwood job in a house like 2 -3 doors down from you guys last summer.

Great work and that is an amazing location. I know some of the folks who ran and worked at the Lemp Caverns. The cave array under that part of town is unbelievable.

Don't know if you are in or familiar with STL but Lemp is just across Hwy 55 and Southwest of A-B not far from Gus's Pretzels. The Carter factory is on North Grand in the heart of North STL. You can get from Lemp to what is left of Carter in about 15 minutes but its current condition is more heartbreaking than photo worthy. Hopefully it can see some creative reuse sometime soon like the Lemp complex has seen.

Not a whole lot going on but I started working on my truck and having a tough time getting it done cause of the Lemp flooding from poor maintenance on the part of the ownership. Also switched jobs and became a Painter at Architectural Sign company here in Saint Louis.
