17" its bound to be close to perfect. I think my cart is 16 or 16.5

They re pretty sturdy as is. I don't think you will need reinforcement.
If I can get the hook type and use it without cutting the lid I would prefer that. Otherwise, I would rather drill holes and mount the shelf lower. Anyone have input on this?
Thanks!

Heat gun, easy peazy, no glue no marks, even painted over like never there.Did anyone else have problems with there US General decal? Mine looked like it had some kind of temporary protective film over it, but when I started to pull it off some of it came off and some of it stayed on the decal. Now it looks like ****.

Mine did that, so I just removed the whole decal, & added my own decal.Did anyone else have problems with there US General decal? Well my wife bought me the 7 drawer side cabinet for my birthday.

At first I just hung it off of the left side. The fact that I cannot close the lid even though I hardly do bugged me. I saw some of the posts where the casters were placed under the side cabinet with a frame or 2x4's but I was not happy with either of those solutions.
I noticed that the side cabinet had about a 2" recess underneath that would prevent me from bolting the casters directly to the bottom.

Looking at my metal stash I found that I had 2" square tube that would almost fill the gap. After slicing it up with my trust HF 4x6..

I made frame that would almost fill the void. I needed about an 1/8" more so I added some plates onto which to bolt the casters.

Here it is welded up..

And in place..

I think I want to weld nuts in the top of the tube instead of drilling into the floor of the cabinet. The bolts would fall into an area where I could not get to anyway.
Next steps will be to piant the frame.
Bolt the frame from the side to the cabinet.
Cut the lip off of the left side of the cabinet.
Drill holes to attache the cart to the side cabinet.
The side cabinet will be flush with the bottom for the cart instead of the top when hanging off of the edge.
id like to see how you get past the lid closing. some of us have cut the cabinet, some of us chose to cut the lid. i cut the lid. With six wheels and nothing bolting the two cabinets together, how will you prevent them from detaching when going down the curb on a driveway?

Only going to have 4. Moving the right cart wheels to under the side cabinet and then bolting the side cabinet to the cart.
