If you want 3 phase you can roll your own just do it after the inspectors are done.
http://www.patchn.com/ click on articles,electrical,3ph from single phase. They were selling more detailed articles on ebay. A friend uses it for a overhead crane, welder, metal lathe, and chop saw.

So, OCG...when are you gonna build something that we can all enjoy? I'd like to see you build a roadster like the 60's Indy coupes myself!!

Also some one said earlier that you could pick up a car with the crane on the roof. My dad has one and yes u can i lifted my project car and painted underneath.

When it was all said and done. Sherwin William's had no answers to the problems that I encountered. But eventually made good by compensating me with more than enough products to cover my loss. And they continue to be my source of paints and coatings today... .

By all means use an Epoxy Coating. But make sure that you use a brand name 100% solids high VOC solvent based epoxy. And not a water based Epoxy Coating. I used Sherwin William's Armorseal 1000HS with their Armorseal 33 primer. It's been over three years now and it's holding up great and looks as good as when I first put it down. Other than a few expected chips from when I drop heavy pieces of steel.

Here's the link to my writeup on putting down my Epoxy floor. Along with the problems I had to deal with.

OCG, i gotta say, you're the first person I've seen have a problem with Sherwin Williams floor paint. I rep a competitor of theirs at work and one of my customers tried their **** and the coverage was terrible and not nearly what the tech people told him. He returned the unopened portion to me and got Sherwin Williams paint(at about the same price as mine), applied it two years ago in a high forklift traffic area and no trouble, it's still holding up well. I'm glad to see they compensated you for the initial problems and you're satisfied with their product.

Had to laugh when I saw the top cover of the KT mill opened up. If there's one PIA on that machine it's having to climb up top to change speeds. We've got several at work, the belt covers are never closed. If and when I ever get hold of one for home I'll seriously consider a VFD to make speed changes.
The KT is my favorite machine in our all manual shop at work. Used it the other night to spin a few .900" switch holes in a plastic electrical box cover.
The KT actually generates better swung holes than most CNC because it is a true circle rather than a "digitized" circle that most CNC programs do.

If you ever run across a KT in reasonable shape you'll probably get it at a reasonable price. Most unknowing folks pass them off as huge and ugly at first glance. And since it doesn't have "Bridgeport" cast into it they often times go cheap.
Ok Now I am confused...... I have a K&T 2HL horizontal that is a relatively new acquisition. and after using it with all of it's power feeds I was considering looking for a vertical version..... now what is this boring holes with an endmill on a manual mill.......

The K&T 2D is a rotary head mill; the spindle itself can be offset and rotate to cut circles or arcs. A standard K&T vertical like a 2H is not the same, spindle only goes up and down. The 2D has a drive transmission for rotabs and dividing heads, look at the right side of the table. Finding one with all the toys is getting harder and harder. I have a 2H horizontal in the garage and unless I found a 2D with a lot of goodies cheap, I wouldn't consider one. I would like to find a Cat 40/NMTB 40 taper vertical mill head for my 2H

Maybe OCG could give a small detailed video demo/tutorial on that aspect of the mill. He has made great videos of other machines

Yeh,
the video is very nice however all it really shows is the cutter moving around. I would be very interested to know what axises are powered if any. My 2HL has all of them powered.

Actually tekkart posted the direct link to the short video clip I made of my Kearney Trecker Rotary Head Mill in action. Below is the link to where I originally posted it. Along with my hydraulic suface grinder in action. The Rotary Head Mill is a rather rare machine. Because of its' original cost few were actually sold. But quite a number survive today. Being that today's prices are so low, many are found in home workshop settings.

The unique thing about this machine is it eliminates the use of a rotary table. The spindle can be rotated (with power or manually) making the cutter go in a circular path. Up to a 4” radius, therefore making 8” diameter shapes. Plus or minus the cutter diameter.

My Rotary Head Mill only came with power to the "X" axis. (Left to right) only. In later years the "Z" axis (table up and down) also came with power. All machines came with power down-feed to the quill.

As far I know, all have powered X, and manual Y. Some have the powered knee option. The rotary has powered rotation, as well as power on the quill for boring.

Powered X is not real common, although I believe some Van Normans have it available.

thanks for the update - even if it's only to answer a question, it reminds us of your thread and allows another trip down OCG lane!

So, working on anything special lately? Or just the same old, same old??? ;)

I have put off any major projects over the past four years. And have been concentrating on building, collecting equipment, and organizing my retirement complex. At times I feel overwhelmed that it may never end. And or I get sidetracked with some other home project or small antique car repair. Did I mention I need to find time this season to refurbish my 34' Sea Ray boat,, pictured below?

SeaRay_24.jpg

But hopefully soon, next two years anyhow, I plan on starting a new project. Procuring and restoring a 1904 or earlier touring car... Something like this early Maxwell...

I saw 40 - 45 of these running some backroads in Brooksville, Fl last weekend. Some of the people were dressed the part too. Was a great site to see  was kicking myself since I ran off and left the camera at home.

Very nice OCG. After my Challenger is done (this summer) and the 240Z (2010), I want to start on a tube-chassis roadster. One guy did a beauty featured in HR magazine last year:

Any organization must have a lot of confidence in their products to make such a tempting offer. Morever that’s an opportunity that I cannot and will not refuse. And therefore I will agree to post my honest and complete review of your lift. In exchange for a new BendPak 10,000 pound capacity two-post lift of my choice.

I am in the process of communicating with Ryan, the board owner, for his blessings. Just to make sure this doesn’t go against any of the board’s rules and regulations. Additionally I have requested some special provisions from him.. Such as being highlighted on the front page to a new and separate section related to lifts to place my evaluation and any other threads related to car lifts. A separate lift section is something that I have pushed for since I joined the board. I also would like other members to stop over my garage and help with the evaluation process and add their remarks.

Again I recognize the confidence you have in your products and thank you and your company for the faith you have placed in my expertise in evaluating one of them.

Best Regards,
OldCarGuy...

PS: I’ll be contacting you on Monday to confirm our agreement and make the necessary arrangemants.

Did we ever have results or another post on this ??? I did find the other link
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=221030#post221030
to this but I would like to know the final outcome of what was a nice gift to you OCG.

Other than the my BendPak "installation made easy" thread that you posted the link to. I posted a thread of "compilation and comparison" between the BendPak, Ben Pearson, and Mohawk lifts. I was hoping that others would forward specifications of their lifts. So that I could add them to this thread. Making a more complete source of information for all to see...

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19456

I still feel that lifts are an important part of his board. Merely judging from the large amount of PM’s I receive, there are a lot interest and questions about lifts. I still feel strongly that Garage Journal should have a separate section covering lifts. Rather than having posts about them randomly placed in at least three different sections...

Thanks OCG  Well we can only hope Ryan will again consider what you have suggested.

We have a section for Floors, Heating & A/C and another now for Lighting & Electrical so you have a valid point just to cover a topic on say Lifts, Hoists & Air Compressors.

Thank you for pointing me to the other link "compilation and comparison" Topic as I shall now enjoy reading that as well.

Ramblur, I am from the Yo., Ohio area.....are you anywhere near?

About 1,000 miles south of Canfield. But I do have a 65 Impala (wagon) and
grew up just down the road from you in Columbiana. I usually catch the
spring Canfield swap meet but didn't this year and again around Labor Day.
