My Shop Dog, Best Friend and Companion, ("JU-JU").
She is a 3 year old Australian Shepard, and has become my faithful "Shadow".
She will literally wait at the bottom of a ladder till I come back down.

That makes me question her pedigree, my Aussie will climb the ladder with me

Haha, kidding about the pedigree, not the ladder part, great looking Aussie. My little Aussie has been known to scale plenty of high places, trees (poor squirrels don't have a chance anymore), ladders, etc...unfortunately he's scared to come back down usually.

Apparently the floor is too cold for Liberty so she is taking over my newly repurposed captain's chair.

When it's raining outside she can run on one of the electric treadmills or on one of the slat-mills. Yesterday she 4.75 miles in 65 minutes.

I built the slat-mills.

That's great! I need to get my Collie mix on one of those.

Boomer the shop dog. He pretty much thinks the shop is his dog house.

They could be twins! My mom's Heeler- Tillie

Ours. Has a great life but not really much of a shop dog. Loves when we are out in our yard - 2 acres fenced plus adjoining 5 acres of woods with lots of wildlife to stalk. Mostly black lab; about 85 lbs.

I hope that this fits the thread. Don't remember where it came from / who sent it to me but it's so true.

Inner Peace
If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can get going without pep pills,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs, then … … …

you are probably the family dog!

Not technically my dog. My neighbor and I have a gate in the fence between our backyards. Since I work from home I can open the gate so Fin can come and visit. I hung a bell off the gate post so my neighbor or I can ring it when we want to come over. Fin has learned where to push on the fence to ring the bell. It's a perfect setup for me - I get to see my buddy but don't have vet or food bills! Kinda like having a grand child (I'm too young for that).

Here he is hanging with me today as I work on my house.

Mine was just sitting beside me for like 10 minutes looking at me and I was sorta ignoring her. Looked over and I realized I'd dripped some pasta sauce on her head while I was eating dinner and she couldn't get to it. Thats the ultimate frustrating situation for a dog to be in.

That is a sweet looking old dog that gets to "borrow" you.

He's a rescue dog. Along with his "sister" who were both adopted from the SPCA. Rescue dogs seem to know they were so close to, well, you know, and are so grateful to be saved. They are both awesome dogs.

Here's our Rottweiler, named 'Rotor' by my wife (after rotary engines). Picture is from a few years ago, at our previous house, looking out from the garage. I'll have to get a newer picture in a couple of weeks when we get the keys to our new (to us) place!

Great looking friend there- and thumbs up to your wife on the name! I've been a Mazda and Wankel rotary OCD junkie for over 20 years... Zoom-Zoom!

My current buddy - HRH Renn Nicholas, as a puppy. That puppy is now 138 lbs of love. You may notice that Renn gets as excited about the cars and garage as I do.

Feeling terribly sad today. My daughter and son-in-law had to put down my "grand puppy" yesterday. He had a mass on one lung and they knew it had metastasized. He was skin and bones, wouldn't eat or drink the last couple days and was struggling to breathe. He seemed relatively fine until Thursday, then it all went critical mass Friday.

His name was Dude, he was a brindle Boxer rescue they'd had for six years and contrary to what his coat made people think, he was the sweetest, smartest, most affectionate dog. It's like he KNEW he'd been rescued and tried to show appreciation every day!

Rest in Peace Dude across Rainbow Bridge. We will think of you often!

Chumley on guard. Sadly, he's no longer with us ..... bone cancer last year. He was a 100+# "truck dog" and would lay in front of the pickup so you couldn't leave without him. Remember that old Toyota pickup commercial in which an older Japanese man would say "Dogs luuuv trucks!" That was him. RIP.

So sorry to hear that, Dan.

We had a rescue Boxer/Shepherd mix for, unfortunately, too short a time. I just posted a pic of him in the "Pets on Furniture" thread. He was a great dog.

Here's "Inspector Lucy" in early 2011 making sure the trench we dug is up to code.

Sadly, she's on her last legs now. Probably only a week or two left. We'll know when it's time and will do right by her.

She was a rescue and we've had her almost 6 years. Nowhere near long enough.

Oh hell.....I thought it was your daughter :spit:

I guess a couple of us were on both sides of the fence.

 She's actually older than me, she was 24-25 in that picture. One day she'll appreciate how young she looks I think, right now she just had to deal with the dirty looks from the old ladies at the grocery store who thought she was a 15 year old pregnant out of wedlock last fall while she was carrying our daughter and her fingers swelled up too big to put her wedding band on :spit: And the fact that she just recently got a pair of handme down shoes from a 3rd grader who was in her class a few years ago...and they fit :eyecrazy:

But enough about that back to pictures of the dogs. I could fill this thread up with everything I have of them, but I'll exclude anything but garage or things that park in the garage related pictures of them.

My favorite riding buddies, helping haul my 67 home. (spot it in the mirror)

Arps, Thats an American Bulldog. Longer legs and longer nose than an Old English Bulldogge. I know because I have one that looks just like him except he is brindle and white. Biggest creampuff you ever saw, just loves to be around people and smart also. Don't let anyone tell you they are dumb dogs. Mine weights 65 pounds and drives with all four paws, loves to take me for a walk.

This is Booter, my shop cat. He wandered in, as a kitten, and would have nothing to do with the house. Took right to the shop, and made it his home. He was there "helping" me with everything I did. Lost him almost a year ago, to lung cancer. Couldn't do anything in the shop for over 6 months. The shop will never be the same from now on. Miss ya buddy!

Another garage cat, he just showed up one day and has never left. Not a bit afraid of the angle grinder or the compressor when it kicks on. Found this site during the snow storm just forgot my password so I've been reading a lot but unable to post until now.

Great site!

Awesome! I've had a couple. I have a long term stalled project 323 (GLC in the US) with 12a turbo, bridgeported, T04, series 4 turbo rx7 box, Hilux rear end, series 4 rx7 brakes all round, etc. Haven't touched it in a long time though unfortunately.

Here's my loyal beast in her natural habitat. Bed.

Having fun with the white stuff.

She's a rescue - even though she had a very prolific racing career. In the UK, there's a massive problem with racing dogs being abandoned so there are a number of charities nationwide that specialise in rehoming them.

When I'm working in the garage, she's either sniffing around the fridge or crying to jump in the back of the car. She loves leather seats.

Lickers,
I have a friend that has had two adopted Greyhounds and they've both been great dogs for him. He raves about them.

Some my think I'm being a typical lefty (and I don't give a rip) but I sincerely do think rescued dogs somehow know they've been saved and are extra appreciative of their saviors.

AFAIC, you are absolutely right, but why would you think people think that makes you a typical lefty? Around here, when people free even wild animals, especially deer, from snares and the like, the deer will run for only about 10 or 15 yards then stop and turn around and look at them. Happens nearly every time. Shows up on camera quite often on the news as well. Most everybody says they're thanking you for the help. And, BTW, I'm a die-hard conservative.

They're a fantastic breed. Many people think they need a lot of exercise and that they can be frenetic but they're so laid back it's untrue. I'v had several over the years and dealt with many more.

Racing Greyhounds tend to get a pretty rough deal. Lots of training and cages and not much association with humans so they certainly do flourish when 'rehomed'. She's a huge part of our family.
