The family and I are leaving the rat race of the city and moving south to Reidsville NC . Before we can move I need a garage to put all the machinery and tools in . Heres what we started with . We dropped three trees and made a nice flat pad for the garage . The pics below show where we started and how it looked as of Oct 20th .
While this was going on the Asplundh guys were out front cleaning up the electrical right of way . I asked them if they wanted a little sidework and we came to an agreement for clearing the front yard and mulching two trees . Yes I said trees . There were two 8" diameter pine trees under the weeds and their tractor chopped them up in to tiny pieces .
Before
And after . I will seed it this spring , I think it will look nice all grassy and it will be a great place for the kids to play .
So now that its all cleared I found a concrete guy I trusted and they dug the footers by hand
After an inspection from the county we were cleared to pour concrete . I got the pad site sprayed for termites and then put down a 6 mil vapor barrier . I also sealed the seams on the barrier , not sure that it was needed but it was a now or never .
We finished up around 7pm with the 1st truck scheduled for 10 am the following day . After a little Bojangles for breakfast we cleaned out the footers and right as we finished the truck showed up .
Here you see where my concrete guy started screeing the crete and the last pic is where we were left after the 1st ten yards.
The second truck filled up the form and there was some extra left for the low spot in the driveway .
A little bullfloating and then it was time for the machine .
Joe ran the power float all afternoon . He swapped the blades halfway through and I ended up with a super slick level slab. I do a good bit of fabrication so I wanted as level as it could be . There are a few low spots but overall it should be good for pulling #s off of .
And this is where it sat until right before Thanksgiving .
