Three people comment on his welds and he is out. Didn't take much to get his ******* in a wad.

It's the Internet take it with a grain of salt and grow a pair....

Liquidh8 that's to bad you feel this way. I think you were inspiring more people then you think. Just ignore the negative people.

Mods, delete this thread. Half of the replies are trolls.

Listen, there was no trolling involved. I'm sorry you didn't like my choice of words, I'm just an old Iron Worker that has spent my life doing a mans job in a mans world. & I'm sorry that I'm not always P.C. I'm sorry you got unnecessarily offended. You would have got your money (fired) the second someone saw your weld. Because somebody would have thought you were trying to kill them. Welders that know how to weld....weld like someones life depends on it and then there are hobby welders. It's OK to be a hobby welder and that term isn't meant to offend anyone but you are putting your safety at risk along with those helping you. So take my friendly experienced advise as I said before. Practice for awhile on scrap and by all means turn the temperature up, that's why there's a dial on welding machines. Welding is not a one size fits all in regards to temperature. I reviewed your links & your welding has improved you just need to practice more.

Easy to see why build threads are few and far between.
If the guy wants advise, then I'm sure he will ask, otherwise **** OUT.

I didn't even get to see the welds in question, but as someone who welds for a living if I see something inadequately welded, especially something that could injure somebody, I'm going to call them out on it. It's not being an *******, and it's not being a troll. It's trying to prevent someone from getting hurt or killed. WAY too many people THINK they can weld and build things they have no business building.

It would be much more appropriate to send a private PM to the OP to advise him of your suggestions rather than publicly humiliating him by cutting up his work. This member was generous enough to share his project with this forum and whether or not his welding was up to your professional standards you have now deprived the rest of us with what would have been a very interesting and educational thread.

That's all well and good for a welding expert. For those of us that are novices, and interested in such a project, I for one would surely like to know what those welds SHOULD and SHOULD NOT look like! Having followed this thread since its inception, I didn't take those comments as overly critical, and would not have were it my build thread. I value an opinion from experts, particularly since I consider myself a novice when it comes to welding/custom fabbing.

Unfortunate. I wanted to see how it turned out since I consider making a rotisserie myself.

After re-reading your posts, I have to agree, no trolling on your part. The op was maybe being a little over-sensitive....still, the rest applies:

It's somewhat understandable that the op didn't like the criticism - it's not always easy to put your work out there for all to see and comment on. Then you get people who do "a mans job in a mans world" chiming in....and those that weren't expecting it can turtle. It may be anonymous, but it's still personal.

In the long run it's everyone's loss.

A shame, I was wanting to see this thing completed. It got me wanting to build a rotisserie again.

Thats a damn shame the op deleted everything. Diesel, thank you for the pic of what you built, my little brother is wanting to build something like you built and I think it should help him.
