Painting Concrete Block Walls

What is the best paint to use as a finish coat on concrete block? I'm looking for a very high gloss to be able wipe of grease easily. I have already coated it with white Drylock. Do i need to use a separate primer or is the Drylock enough? any input is greatly appreciated.

Ayuh,.... Rustoleum industrial enamel,...

Roll out 2 coats, 'n it'll still be there when yer great grand children are old, 'n retired,.....

does it adhere well to walls? I always use it on metal but never really thought about walls

Ayuh,.... Just like any other coatin', it'll stay stuck the the blocks, til water gets behind it,...

Well I am drylocking both sides of the block so hopefully it will stay out.

Use a block fill material first and you'll get a much smoother glossier wall finish.

I used Loxon from Sherwin Williams.
A little pricey but still looks like new 10 yrs. later.

Isn't drylock that type of product? or what type of block fill do you mean?

With a good masonry primer like Drylock, you can use any kind of top coat. With a primer and 2 finish coats, you should get a pretty smooth surface,

Rustoleum industrial enamel is good stuff. Requires a catalyst or it would take days to dry.

I'm trying to get a texture like my elementary school had. All the walls were block but they were really glossy and easy to clean. That could just be from them painting them every year. and having so many layers of paint.

I think drylock might have a filling property to it, im not sure.

Blockfill (generic term, a good painter/supply house will know what to suggest) is what they used in your elementary school. It fills the small voids and smooths the wall, it keeps the block from soaking up all the paint that you apply. It's a thick, thick primer.

Thanks for the clarification. This is my first time ever having a block building. I started the drylock this morning and it was extremely thick and it looks to do what i was looking for. we will tell when all is said and done.

they make a block sealer, finisher paint, its like a first coat with small particle to fill the voids. I got couple five gallon buckets of it
