The nut drivers are fractional, I'll look at the sizes when I get home. The vises I'm getting keep getting bigger and bigger, I don't know if I'll be able to pick up the next one.

I'm waiting for Rickster to pop in and post how he cleaned out the place this morning....

OK, I read this all the time but almost never post, but this is a good one.

Surfing C/L and saw an estate sale with tools nearby, so dropped by and bought this 2 x 48 Baldor 1-1/2 hp sander for $80.

It's not a horizontal one, I'm just a crappy picture uploader.

Cartman: you don't have to wait for the YOU **** deals until you post something, but that is one bad *** Baldor. i think it is missing a tool rest which might be found or bought later, but the knife guys love these and so do most of us.

welcome to Garage Journal and with tools like that to use i'll be watching for more posts of some of your projects too.

I stopped by a sale today and there were a bunch of old craftsman things i'll try to get pictures of and post later. back out to catch a couple more sales now.

good luck everybody.

Latest haul from a local farm retirement sale, today I had to work so could only drop on a bunch of commission bids.

The 3 lots I was successful in winning: (Total cost £27/ $45)
IMAG2452.jpg

Lot 45, two socket sets (as a bonus, one is actually complete!)
IMAG2453.jpg
IMAG2454.jpg

This is the brand on the incomplete set, I've never heard of this one!
IMAG2455.jpg

The most expensive lot at £10/$16 (included the big tin of split pins also)
IMAG2456.jpg

The cheapest lot £4/ $6.75
IMAG2457.jpg

I will post in my auction tat haul thread once I've had a chance to rake through them properly.

Went to one sale today and i decided to go after the big rush becasue i knew it was going to be a madhouse.

I picked up the stuff in the upper left corner, with a lot of other non tool stuff for a few bucks. The rest came from a friend that picked a few things for me.

Columbian D44 vise
2 Proto 15" ratchets
1 Proto keychain screwdriver
Pile of Craftsman metric wrenches/socktets
Tape measures
Ace metric tap set
Craftsman dogbone wrench
Schwinn/Snap on wrench

The stuff i grabbed was the Plomb screwdriver, P & C screw extractor/wrench, 1" NPT tap, Starrett punch and 1 more Plomb socket, not pictured.

I also picked up a Blackhawk tool kit that will be posted in another thread. If anybody is interested in it, pictures are included

I picked up a couple of items of note today.

First was this 1/2" drive spinner. I bought it just because it would look cool hanging on the wall. Got home and found out that it was Snap-On.
DSC00784.jpg DSC00788.jpg

Then the lady says "If you want something to hang on the wall, how about this? $5." and pulls this Millers Falls drill out from under the table. Needless to say, it followed me home.

Stan, if that hand crank drill is a 2 speed, lube it and set it up with a star bit for deck screws, and it won't always be a wall hanger...

Glen, you didn't get hurt on the 16 speed WT + the DP vise at all...

Thanks Outlaw...it does have the original motor and switch too ....the chuck is kinda of gunked up but thats a pretty easy rebuild

The drill runs really quiet...they dont make them like that any more...these machines are great

I continue to look for them

Outlaw, it is a 2 speed with three different handle lengths you can set. It turns free and has very little rust. Even the level vial is still there and not broken

I don't think it's a sucking kind of haul, but I won't complain. The breaker bar, extensions, and wrenches came from a thrift store. Everything else came from an estate sale today. I hit it after work, and discovered that the tool boxes were already gone. Well, one sat in the corner taunting me with its "Sold" sign... All sorts of automotive and small engine tools and test equipment. I left a few good things, but I hope I got the bargains:

At top left is a pair of SO snips (look Diamond sourced to me), at top center is a Plomb 1/2" drive ratchet (First I've seen!), and at far right is a Craftsman =v= 3/8" drive extension. 1/2" =v= goodness: breaker bar, 2 6" extensions, most of a 1/2" drive socket set. Onesie sockets include a Wright, a Williams, an SK knurled-base, and a Speedmaster. Going back to the left side, the 8 point socket is Blackhawk and the drag link socket is SO. The Speeder is a Billings, with a socket to match. Interestingly, this looks like it was originally copper-colored. Was this something Billings did? The deep 1/2" drive sockets are Speedmaster, Williams (2 of the same), and a Craftsman =v=.
Back to the far left, we have some lasting pliers, a Barcalo 6" adjustable, a German-made "Onehander", 3 Craftsman =v= DOEs, Vlchek pliers, SO slip-joints, Ramco Cotter Pliers, Craftsman 'channellocks', a Craftsman =v= combo, and a Barcalo combo.

Next pic:

From the top, there are spring compressors by Sunnen, KD, Blue Point, Williams, a mystery small Blue Point tool, pliers by Cal Van, a piston groove cleaner by BOS(?) BDS (?), another Sunnen tool, a strange Truth tool, Sealed Power pliers, a KD brake spring tool, SO brake pliers, One Manzel ring compressor, and one unbranded.

I have those same pliers on the left of your picture. The duckbill ones with the hammer part and one handle shorter than the other.

What are they for? Is one handle supposed to be shorter or were these something that got broken a lot?

They are called lasting pincers, IIRC a leather working tool for shoemakers.

She found a 3 ton Famco ratcheting arbor press - offered $25 - accepted. A little clean up to do, but overall a functional press.

True temper wheelbarrow with airless tire (and steel handles which seem odd to me) and dayton lamp with magnifier. They asked $10 and $2. I negotiated down to $11 total. Had to drive home very carefully. Wheelbarrow fell out as I turned into my street. When I bring car I find big items and when I have truck I only find small a.

The only sale that was worth going to this morning was postponed due to rain - then, it didn't rain . I'm hoping to be able to get over there tomorrow after I try to find a seller from two weeks ago at the flea market. (I'm still trying to get the last hex key for the Eklind set I picked up)

All i can say was today was a good one. Found a privately run sale and was able to walk right up and get in 1 hour early. Everybody else that was waiting around for the sale went to eat/drink/usa a bathroom and i was the last man standing.

The other sellers who went for coffee must have been PISSSSSSSSSSED!! when they came back !

It's an actual C clamp. :lol_hitti Good stuff as usual Matt

I thought it did but I don't have any experience with the Kennedy boxes so wasn't sure. I thought for 10 I can't pass this up.

My Garage:
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=243729

Yes, great deal. Although I don't think it is a kennedy. Quite a few things are off compared to the standard 26" (526) box. Actually that one looks betterthan the standard 526 kennedy.

Can you take one of the drawers out and get a side and head on picture of one of the slides? I think it is a waterloo built box. :headscrat

That's a big YOU **** right there. I've been looking for a decent arbor press for a while, the flea markets don't have any, and Craigslist folks think they are gold plated.

I got these H.K. Porter 24" bolt cutters and a plastic tub full of various air blow gun nozzle tips (all brass, sorry no pics) for $10. The bolt cutters were used quite a bit but they look to be in decent shape and still cut bolts fine.

my $5 purchase. All older US made stuff. Various brands. My favorite piece has to be the Firestone 3/8" ratchet. Never seen one say on/off.

Finally got to my first town-wide of the year, but it wasn't very good. Until, at one of the last stops, spotted this USA Skil HD77 half under one of the guy's tables. Was ready to haggle some, but when he said $20?, whipped it right out! Works great, and in very good shape. Have a Chinese-made one still brand new in the box that I got on clearance at Lowes for $40 a few years ago that'll I'll dump on Craigs now.
