Hi! I have two questions for you:
1. Does your epoxy have a shimmer to it when you look close to it in the light?
2. I'm torn between getting the Norkland 100M epoxy to use in my garage or the High - Performance Urethane clear coat. I don't want the color to look darker, but I also want something that will withstand having to drag heavy things into my garage without damaging it. Do you think I have to get the high - Performance Urethane clear coat and just deal with it affecting the color or can I get away with using the Norkland 100M clear coat instead?
Thanks!
Haleh
1. Yes there is a shimmer to it when you look closely or the sun catches it.
2. Yes, if this is going in the garage it was recommended to do two coats, 1st the 100m Epoxy (gives a lot of depth, flattens out the texture, and tones down the metallics.) The second coat for me was the 747 High Performance Polyurethane. This coat is supposed to wear better and gives an orange peel like finish, which I like for traction. For the garage, I wouldn't stop with just the Epoxy coat, The poly coat applies at a rate of 500 sqft/gallon so you don't need to buy very much of it in comparison to the epoxy. It rolls out easy, just make sure to take your time on the last roll, and get the floor to look consistent. I did end up with a couple of roller marks, although most people don't notice them.
With both clear coats I had a hard time rolling out the material to the recommended coverages. They both went a lot further than recommended and I ended up with extra. Floor looks awesome, I like it so far. I just finished painting the walls and ceiling, tonight I install the NewAge cabinets. I'll take some pictures of the finished product here in a couple of days......
