Thanks to the OP. I picked up 5 today, and got one put together. Kinda a pain to get everything square, but for $29 and change :)

To those of you who are having the stores tell you the price isn't discounted, what is probably happening is that the price for that store hasn't been changed yet. Each store has a Pricing Coordinator, and the discount will not show up in the stores computer till the coordinator changes the price. The coordinator gets a list of price changes to do everyday from Lowe's Corp, and they scan the barcode , attach the new price labels to product or shelf or both. The manager who said that each store discounts things at different times is somewhat right, just depends how fast the Pricing Coordinator can do their job. This is why you can stop at store A and get the discount and go to store B a few miles away and see the regular price, and they know nothing about the marked down price. When I use to work for a vendor who had a contract with Lowe's, sometimes I would see the pricing coordinator be several days behind on price changes. I would say just keep checking as often as you could to see when the price changes. I am not sure about now but at the store that I use to deal with they didn't do any price changes on the weekends. Hope this helps.

Just a heads up - I saw that the deal has been posted on slickdeals - that explains why the Lowes I went to was hit several times already today.

Also, I looked over the box, it says that it was printed in June, 2006. I'm just wondering what your boxes say. I found the info by the UPC and elsewhere.

Thanks.

Mine have all new looking boxes- except one of the boxes is old and faded and it has in grease pencil marked on the side "For display". So I am hoping that this display model, which is new in the box, has the peg board stiffeners in the doors:drool:

Also- Northridge, CA Lowe's has 2-3 units as of 8 PM Sunday evening 2/15/09. My dentist, whom I had tipped-off this AM, called me to let me know that he had just picked up 4 units there and left 2-3. He is going to be a GJ member soon as soon as he gets on-line.

So chaulk-up 4 more....

Picked up a total of 21 yesterday and today. 4 are going to number one son, 4 to daughter and son-in law. The rest for me. I'm not sure where I'll use them, but at that price I couldn't help myself. For anyone looking in the Chicago area: Aurora still had at least four and Carol Stream still had some (not sure how many). Thanks for the heads up.

Well, they had them at the Lowe's nearest me, saw them Saturday, they had 4 or 5. My wife told me to go ahead and get them, I told her no, I don't have any place to put them, so I passed.

Thank you fellas, I will surely keep that in mind next time. I did a store search by zipcode on their site to get phone numbers and did some calling around. The stores close to me (Chicago & surrounding suburbs) were sold out but one fellow told me that the Bolingbrook store had ten. Called to confirm. Sent the wife to the Bolingbrook store this afternoon to p/u four. Thanks for the heads up. I was able to get in on the recent Craftsman stools, two for one buy thanks to another board member. I start my vacation at the end of the month. Now I have cabinets to hang and some Gargage Deck floor tiles from http://www.bigfloors.com/ to install. Much obliged.

I went to the Alpharetta GA store yesterday. There were two on the shelves, but weren't on sale. Seems to be by region.

I got 5 but will probably sell a couple to friends. Eyes bigger than wall space available. I noticed the wall bracket for mounting is included in the box. They were available seperately for 24.95, almost the cost of the whole cabinet.

Also, I wonder if they are discontinuing the whole Gladiator line or just that particular cabinet. I picked up the Gladiator brochure, and the cabinet on sale wasn't in it. Probably most people stepped up to the 30" cabinet at full price. Now if they would just put those tall cabinets on 75% off I would be set.

Add 3 to the count.. maybe more on the way.

Lowes near work had 3 in stock I bought all 3.

I will keep an eye on the Lowes near my house may buy some more after I see how I like these.

Add 2 more to the count. Tried a different store. Had two in stock but not marked down. manager pulled up the item and while it was still 118 it was marked as 'no longer stocking" so she matched the 29.50 of the store 5 miles away.

They laughed at me.

I checked all weekend and after reading the thread decided to talk with management. Armed with the GJ pic and thread I explained to them that people were buying them everywhere else in the country. They said there was no way they would sell them for that price, and didn't believe anyone else would either.

He also told me it wasn't a discontinued item, and they were ordering more.

Yes, I checked the item number.

I snaged 2 at lunch today. I did call store closest to me and asked if they had them in stock and how much? They said 2 in stock, price$118, they knew nothing about any discount. I then called 2nd store 10miles away and asked how many in stock (2) and oh by the way how much ? 29.50 and they held them til I got there.

If you do call ask if they stock by item # 29844 1st, then price. I think I got cut out of the deal on the 1st call when Mgr got involved.

A big thanks for the HOT tip:thumbup:

I don't know why everyone is so worked up over these things.

I looked at them and they are garbage, even at the 30 dollar price.

I bought 4 from the Canton store and 4 from the Milford store to be sure that I didn't like them.
I attempted to justify buying more of these pieces of sh!t, but I just don't have the wall space.

I'll tell you what is an even bigger piece of garbage is those large upright cabinets and base cabinets. Talk about stinking up the place, when they go on sale I'm going to need to check them to see if they are junk as well.

:lol_hitti Thanks to the original poster for the heads up. If you're ever in detroit (or the hostile suburbs of) I owe you a cold one, but just one, I don't need any freeloaders.

I really didn't need any, but I was off today (government employee) so I decided to go down to the Lowes about 5 minutes away from my house to take a look. The display was still on the wall with no price tag, didn't see any on the shelves. Looked around and found one box hidden on the floor behind the boxes of the big cabinets. I took it to the cash register, $29.50, so I guess I got the last one.

How are you guys hanging these? I don't want to put the gear track on the wall, was thinking of just running screws into studs through the channel or using a block of wood to bring the back flush with the edges and hang them through the mounting holes on the back plate... Any other ideas?

I thought about using the rail system they sell, but I would need 80 bucks worth to hang 8 cabinets.

I don't think drilling a hole and screwing is the best idea although you could use washers or a 1x3 on the inside to spread the cabinet load out.

I may just make my own french cleats - cheap and effective.
See the link here or do a google search if you have never heard of them.

If you think the cabinet may get bumped off the cleat drive a screw through into the cleat once it's mounted to keep from being bumped off.

I posted a second ago that my local store wouldn't sell them for the sale price. I came back to work and read Scooterfish's post about calling neighboring town. I called the Lowes about 15 miles from here.. 7 in stock, price 29.50

So I drove over there (quickly).. none to be found, even the display was gone. I walked around and looked at all overheads. On the trashbag isle there was a pallet with the 7. Loaded em up.

Good deal Nat. Thats a great thing about this board everyone helps each other out.

If you find a store that PC (which can be wrong) says they 4 in inventory but can`t find them, keep looking. The dept. guy found me 2 stocked in two different isles.

I called the Lowes closest to me, and the only have the display left. I called a different one, 20 minutes away- no discount, but the person said they honor prices from different stores. I'll be buying a couple tuesday afternoon. The cabinets aren't the greatest quality, but for $29.50!!! Heck, I cant build anything close for that price

+2 to the OP.

This was my first post also!! I have been a browser for years though!!

Well if my calculations are correct, there has been another 115 purchased since I posted the 326.

Grand total so far....441.

Has anything in past GJ or Junkie history been bought in quantities like this? I don't ever remember seeing anything before. At least not a huge rush on Lowes.

Add 2 more. I broke down and went back and grabbed some more. Was fun cramming them into the passenger seat of the Fiero.

BTW, I was able to hang 5 of them on 3 of the rails. So $30 to hang 5 cabs. You have to **** the cabs up tight and then have about 3 inches left over of the rail sticking out. I'll grab some pictures after I finish turning some poly bushing sleeves.

Individual products? I don't think so. But we have seen mass purchasing. Remember the $5 off $5 Sears coupon? There have been some rushes to Lowes in response to $10 off $25 coupons, and I have seen masses from Slickdeals flocking to Lowes for freebies such as a Kobalt 6-in-1 screwdriver.

I got 8 on Sunday morning. Going in the wifes garage, moving her stuff out of mine.

1st. store had 3 (2 new and the display missing keys). This store had them marked down. I had the first store call the second and they showed having 8. I asked them to pull 5 and put my name on them.

I drove to the 2nd. store and couldn't find the ones that they pulled for me. They told me over the phone where they were putting them. Went to where the display was and there was 2 and the display. The price was still full price. So off to the service desk I went. Talked to the manager and he found the employee that pulled them and she would bring them up.

A few minutes later here they came and the employee told the manager "wait till you see the price on these". The manager scanned one box, saw the price and said " that is a good price on those" .

Thanks OP. Snagged 13 from two different stores here. One display was all banged up. Probably should have bought the other one though.

I think all the keys are the same!

Yep. One key fits all.

Has anyone else gotten any with the pegboard braces on the door, or is there just a couple of the members with one or two?

My display has the pegboard; havent opened up any others yet. It's just like a 5" or so strip of pegboard in the center of the doors running vertically.

Hello, my names Don and it's been 12 hours since my last trip to Lowes. I purchased 4 more cabinets. I'm not even sure were I'm going to put them.

Just started visiting GJ and saw this thread. I picked up 12 and my dad got 9 (three stores and 21 total.) Maybe not the best quality, but for the price it cannot be beat. A big thank you to the OP!

I stopped at my local Lowes (Newark, DE) after work today. Went to the back, marked price still $118, as it was on Saturday. I said what the heck, since everyone else was having luck, I threw one in a cart and took it to the front. There were 3-4 people in line at the register, and then 2 lowes workers at the "self checkout" lines. I went over there and asked if they could check the price. It came up as $29.50.

I quietly asked if she would watch that one, and that I would be right back. I ran outside and got a flat cart, went to the back of the store, and loaded up everything they had.

Maybe not the perfect cabinet, but seriously for $29.50, I don't think you can do any better.

I got 11 of them. Now have to get finished drywall and running some wiring so I can get the garage cleaned out, and figure out how I want to mount these.

Now I just want to see them put the tall cabinets on sale so I can get a few of those, and perhaps 2-4 base cabinets to make benches, and then I would have a full matching setup for my attached garage.

Keep your eyes open for any of the other items on sale so I can snag some more!!!

Thanks GJ!

Has anyone bolted multiple units together? I'd like to see some pictures. I thought I read someone did four but scrolling through the thread, I can't find it.
