I went to our local Lowe's (in Wooster, Ohio) & they have 19 of them in stock. I decided not to get any since they don't quite fit the bill for what I want, so if anybody is near, go for it.

Local Lowes had 5 on the shelf plus the display unit. Wife actually suggested I get them all before I could even ask her!

I picked up 7 of them this A.M. thanks to jshillin. As of noon today the New Lenox, Illinois Lowes store still had 4 in stock but on the top shelf. They don't show up on the web site but they were in stock.

Thanks jshillin, picked up 3 at one store, then 3 more at another Lowe's 20 mins away. Now I just need to spackle, sand and paint the garage so I can hang these bad boys. Hopefully the large stand up cabinet will be marked down soon.

The Missoula store had 30 when I called this AM. When I got there, 45 minute drive, they had twenty on the floor and one display. Dropped off 6 to a friend on the way home the other 15 are in my shop. Hope to add the tall floor cabinet when it gets discounted. No one on the floor knew anything about pricing.

:mad: Found 3 in stock. No discount at all. Took them up to customer service, asked them to scan them to see what they would ring up at, rang up at $118, told them about the deal, they said they couldn't find anything about a close out on them. So apparently national closeout excludes my local store.

I ran down to my local Lowe's after calling the dept where they're kept - **SNIP**

Rule #1 of clearance/closeout deals like this: DO NOT call the store to ask if they're in stock, or to ask them to put them on hold for you. They will see that they have them in stock and buy them for themselves, or alert one of their friends/relatives about the deal and you lose out before you can get there to pick them up.

The only way to find out for sure is to drive to the store and search around. Do NOT trust the inventory computer, they are almost always wrong (if they say they have 6 in stock, they will either have -0- or 27 of them). If you don't see them out on the floor, ask someone to check in back or in the backstock area for you- especially for a larger item like these cabinets.

I agree about calling as well. When my wife and I went to the 2nd Lowes and they had 3 of them, there were no prices listed on the cabinet or shelf (wonder if the price was removed for a reason??). I found someone who worked there and asked if he could run a scan on the barcode to check the price. He said he thought they were a little over $100, and then I told him that Lowe's is discounting them to $29.50. His facial expression almost said to me "why the h*ll didn't I know about this, I would have purchased them for myself". Even my wife picked up on it. I told my wife that even if he came back and said they were $118, I am not sure I would have believed him thinking he may take them himself. But, he was honest and returned saying you are right, $29.50

Thanks for the heads up on this. Glad I didn't get the ones that have been on sale periodicallly at Sears. My local store had eight hidden 12 feet up on a rack. I was aching to get them all, but really can only justify 4 because that's what I need.

Thanks jshillin:bowdown:

Yesterday I saw this post and called Lowe's here in South Bay LA- I got put on hold forever and bailed. Checked the internet for stock at local stores and got the "Not availabale in your area" BS. This evening, when finally sitting down to relax; I re-checked this thread and was encouraged enough to get my **** back up and tell the wife I had an emergency to attend to at Lowe's. She had her flowers and candy and was fine with that :)

As I was pulling out of the driveway I was thinking about how dumb I was to be driving to a Lowe's at this late hour because of a tip from a BBS. I just knew that the odds were seemingly not in my favor.

Valentine's Massacre at SoCal Lowe's

I scored 2 at the first store and 6 more at the second store. Outstanding!

I just so happen to be really close to needing these and have two new 8 foot benches to hang these over in a nearly completed garage. I am really happy to have gotten these cabinets. Just today I was in HD and looking at the Closet Maid cabinets. Junk I say.. This Gladiator cabinetry is by Whirlpool and the metal fab is top notch.

Go get em!!

The bosses at Lowes headquarters must be scratching their heads at why the heck these cabinets are selling like hotcakes so suddenly. Hope they don't find out about our nice little secret deal discussions here...

They're probably thinking "damn we probably could have sold 'em for $50 each"

I think $30 was the magic number though...even if the cabinets were only $40, I probably wouldn't have given them much thought.

Thanks for posting this deal. I went to my closest Lowes. They had 13, but not on sale. Called the next closest store, they were on sale. I wanted 4, so my Olympia Lowes sold me 2 at the price, then I travel to the other Lowes and pick up 1 there. Said they had 2, but only one.

So, then I drive to Lakewood, buy 4 more, then off to the Tacoma store for 1 more.

Total is now 8! I might go out and pick up a few more at that price. Man they are nice!

When you go to the store, make syre you look way up on the top of the rack and also on the floor at the back. The second Lowes I went to , they had two on the rack. I looked and there were two more on the floor directly below. I turned around and there were 10 on the top shelf behind me. So when I left, there were five still on the shelves.
The first Lowes I was at, the departmental manager also told me to keep an eye out as the other Gladiator items would more than likely be coming up on sale as he thought they were going to discontinue them. He just doesn't know when.
The cabinets mount threee different ways to the wall. They will mount to a slatwall, they will mount to the Gladiator rail, or you can direct mount them to the wall. With the cabinets being at 28" wide, they are a ******* size. The back of the cabinets have mounting holes at 16" on center and 24" on center. So to put them side by side on 16" studs does not work out without drilling the cabinets. I opted for the Gladiator rail. And those ain't cheap :wtf: $10 for 4', so it basically takes two rails long to mount three cabinets side by side. Then there is a bracket (rather strong steel bracket) that mounts to the back of the cabinet that drops into the rail. Gladiator recommends a rail at the top and a rail at the bottom all for the fact that the bottom rail will space the cabinet out evenly, but it is not used to mount to. Only spacing. So I picked up an 8' piece of prefinished MDF to use as the bottom spacer. I'll see how this all works out today as I am going to mount some of the cabinets.
One thing I do like about the cabinets is the quality (well quality as far as a China import goes) and I like the fact that they are metal. If I do any painting in the garage, I can drape a piece of plastic over them and attach it with a magnet.
I'll post up some pics as I get them mounted. I'm not so sure I will like the rail system, but it will let you adjust to where you need. But the rail will also let the cabinet stick out 3/4" from the wall. I'm not to sure about that as I get a lot of Grandaddy longlegs in the garage that love to hide behind everything. I'll see how it goes and I can always change to a direct wall mount if necessary.
I want to buy JSHILLIN a cold one for posting up the deal on the site. By doing so created a rush at all Lowes stores for the deal of the month. Probably the deal of the year for me. LOL!!! So a big Thanks, goes out

If either one of the Lowes that I go to (20 minutes either way of me) start marking down the other Gladiator products, I'll post it up if I can. I think I am going to check one or the other probably every evening as I would like to have two of the larger full length cabinets.

BTW......Racerxtx.........when you got the display cabinet, did you get the mounting bracket for the back? This is used on the rail system. It is a rather heavy gage steel channel with a lip and painted silver. I didn't, and when I went back, they could not find it as they had the unit mounted direct. I think I am also missing a shelf in the display unit although it doesn't really matter. I won't know until I open one of the other boxes to see what all is in there.

And to anybody that doesn't know....ASSEMBLY REQUIRED. We'll just see how throrough the Chinese are in counting out nut, bolts, and washers. LOL!!!

Thanks for the tip. This made my trip to Lowes VERY worth while. Picked up 10 of these cabinets and then noticed they had the display model of the Bosch Litheon 12v driver and impactor combo for $100, bought that and then saw they had cedar decking 5/4 x 6 x 10 for $4.72. Went and bought 96 of those for the summer deck project. All told I saved over $1500 yesterday.

Thank you, jshillen...I picked up all 14, including display model, at the Oldsmar (Fl) Lowes. I went to another (Clearwater) and they had four, but would not budge on the $118 price. I even left a message for the store manager, who never called me back. I already have 4 on the walls. I will probably use about 7, and sell the rest on ebay or Craigslist. Thanks again.

First thing Sat. morning I went to the Union City Lowes.

Found 4 on the floor.Price was still 118.00.

I loaded them up on a cart and off to the register. Before she even rings them up I tell her the price. She rings and tells me nope 118.00 please.

The smoke starts to billow from the ears and I ask to speak to the manager immidiatley. She calls him over the PA system.I explain the deal on these.
He looks at me puzzled.

He then types in the skew in some other format at the computer.Looks at me and says you are right sir.29.50 clearance.

I pay and off to the house I go with my new cabinets.

So if you go and they give you heat about the price.Make sure that you speak to the highest authority before you lay your guns down and walk out.

All Lowes stores must honor the clearence price.

Now for the cabinets. They are a decent quality,But the doors seem to be a little flimsy.I notice the strut on the inside of the door in the pictures above is wide and has holes in it.Mine have a smaller strut and dont look like that one.

My wife thinks we, as a collective whole, the GJ, is nuts. She said I have really met people who share my interests. Have fun!
LOwes.com said they werent sold here on Friday. I went yesterday b/c "we were out of propane":) and picked up four of them.. I am planning to do my whole garage remodel in the spring with the Gladiator cabinets. This got me well on my way. I cant wait until the rest of it goes on clearance!
