Yes I am, been an apprentice fitter since 15, and worked on farms since I was 12, and always had a love for good tools, and had to start my own when my parents split up, so for the list 3-4 years I've been buying a lot on eBay and local garage sales, etc

All the apprentices I know would buy brand new Sidchrome or Kincrome tool sets and tool box or cabinet. I think it's because of the Tools For Your Trade Payment Initiative by the government. I think the initiative is changing in the next financial year to a loan (up to $20k) instead of a grant.

Correct, any claims before 1st July will still be paid out, but then it's a 20k interest free loan, but it's given out at $80pw, or around that.

mostly sutton slot and centre drills in the left, few p&n 3 flutes, two p&n tee handle tap wrenches, in the middle is a cheap pair of digital calipers, mitutoyo micrometers to 100mm, mitutoyo dial calipers, toledo machinist square, and some starrett small hole gauges, on the right is all p&n #1 morse taper drills and reamers, odd sutton fractional drills, warren and brown 3/8 torque wrench, sutton pin punches, moore and wright drift
aussie sidchrome pliers, eclipse vice grips, no name long handle offset needle noses, australian stanley screwdrivers, off hex keys and inhex sockets, there's some gedore and stahlwille in there though.

Here's my Koken 3/8" hex and torx bit sockets. The Koken matt finish is akin to the German matt finish so it fits well with Hazet or Stahlwille.

Nice torque wrench! I didn't realise that Carolus made tools in Germany.
I was just contemplating on getting a better torque wrench. Anyway here are pics of my el cheapo torque wrench (paid ~$25 new).

Carolus is owned by gedore, im not sure if they still make their torue wrenches in Germany, they are identical to the Gedore ones. Works beautifully and is made beautifully. Maybe monte can answer if they are still made in germany

That style still has some good uses. You can set bearing preload ring and pinion setups on some rear ends.
On a separate note. How do you like the blue and black hazet screwdrivers on that fine cart of yours?

I love my Hazet screwdrivers, the handles are mostly black so you hardly notice the oil and grease stains and their tips have endured quite a lot without damage. Much better than my old Wera laser etched screwdrivers that got damaged within days.
Best off all they're pretty cheap, I think I paid about $25 for the set. That's cheaper than most Chinese made screwdriver sets available in Australia!

Their tool selection is very extensive, although most Craftsman tools are now made in China.

i guess Erdi was/is the OEM. "Erdi" = Ernst Diener Werkzeugfabrik. A scissor/shears manufacturer located in Solingen/Germany. Was bought by Bessey in 1979. Until a few years ago the pictured scissors were labelled "Solingen" but they outsoured the cheaper scissors to China and the cheaper metal shears/tin snips are nowadays from Taiwan.

At the same time I got a few Lisle automotive tools (low priced brand in USA) like a plastic fastener remover, drain pan, oil filter tool, disc brake pad spreader and fold-up creeper. All were made in USA and quite inexpensive. For what ever reason, Lisle tools in Australia is extremely expensive, makes Stahlwille's 100% mark up look cheap.

yes i was tempted by the access to tools from abroad. I didnt notice that there was 3rd party sellers, and i assume i purchased all from sears.
i purchased a craftsman USA set of screwdrivers to replace my stanley china ones , some channelock pliers and an estwing hammer.
ill keep my eye out for the lisle tools!!

Jedi, there's nothing in that box to be ashamed of, regardless of where you live. Your stuff is top-notch by anyone's standards, even if it's not brands we usually see in my part of the world.
Matt, you've got a heck of a collection too, all the more so for your age - but if I may make a construction suggestion: you need to do something else with your micrometers and digital calipers. These are precision tools, and won't stand up to being piled up on one another in a drawer like wrenches. It won't be long before the faces get dinged up and you will have lost some of your hard earned investment. I realize real estate is at a premium in everyone's box, but those really need to be stored laying flat in a single layer at the least.

Are the Sidchrome antislip (ASD) wrenches made in the US?

These are the "rough" set, I have my good set in my box at work, with 0-25 & 25-50 Mitutoyo digimatic mics, 50-75 and 75-100 thimble mics, 200mm digimatic calipers, 0-4" thimble mic, 8" inside mic, and precision bevel protractor, as well as that these ones Ingot used and never had a case to start with, when I get a bottom box this will be sorted out either way
