Garage Journal Members,

This group buy deal for the MaxJax Portable Two Post Lift has turned out to be, as many coined it, a "fiasco". We didn't anticipate such an influx and interest of potential buyers for this product like we received.

After several meetings, we've decided to change the contest rules of this group buy for Garage Journal to make it fair on all members. Instead of rushing to a website to fill out a form at a certain time Sunday afternoon, we're going to allow a period of three days to call in to receive the group buy. To accommodate the amount of interest, we're also increasing the limit of buyers from 20 members to 35 members. We wish we could offer more, but we're very limited to the amount of stock we can sell at this introductory price.

As stated before, customer satisfaction is something we don't take for granted at Dannmar. Instead, it's something we strive for on a daily basis. We value your time and appreciate your patience. Thank you for your continued support through this entire process.

Please read below for complete details. If you have any questions, feel free to post them here and I will respond.

Regards,

Ben Cass
General Manager
Dannmar

We'll see how it goes this time.

Just to be clear, you sent an e-mail to everyone who registered at the maxjaxusa site telling them of the group buy.

Unfortunately even if it goes off without any issues this time, Dannmar will still have a lot of frustrated/ unhappy people that could have been potential customers.

Willing to try again. If it, or I, fail then I will just wait until I get a chance to order one the normal way. The savings would buy other toys though so will cross my fingers.

Good luck to everybody this time. And especially to Dannmar's IT folks.

This is a big disappointment from start to finish. Unfortunately I planned my schedule around the original date. Since I said I would cover for a fellow volunteer firefighter next Sunday, I cant expect to have computer access on the 22nd. This would be because he covered for me yesterday, since I requested the afternoon off to purchase my new lift.

I'm really sorry that you weren't better prepared for this group buy, but try and understand that a lot of us consumers went to a large inconvenience yesterday to be left empty handed without even a fair chance of getting on the list.

With the economic situation, I was stretching my budget and saving for the $1500 purchase. I even went to the extent of drilling holes in my slab to test thickness.

Let's first start off by saying...

Ooops!

But more importantly, we apologize for the inconvenience of our last group buy attempt. We know that it's problems were very frustrating for all of you as it was for us. Obviously, we didn't anticipate the amount of interest we had in this product. Truthfully, after further review, we realized the issue was due to the amount of people logging into the group buy application at one time, which exceed the allowable limit. As more and more people logged in, other people were being kicked out and couldn't submit the form.

But enough of the techie talk... the problem has been resolved and it's time to start a new group buy for Garage Journal members.

We've read your comments in the first MaxJax Group Buy Announcement thread and appreciate all the support that many users expressed.

The consensus we've received from that thread is that many of you are concerned over whether or not the maturity/activity of a Garage Journal Member should exclude them from participating. Since user status was never defined when the group buy was announced, all Garage Journal Members have an opportunity to participate in the group buy. This is regardless of how many posts a user made, or the date when the user joined.

MaxJax Group Buy Details:

  • Available to Garage Journal Members residing in the United States and Canada. (Members living in Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada will have shipping charges applied.)
  • First come, first serve - the first 20 interested buyers that sign up and hit "submit" will be awarded the special price of $1,500.00 delivered.
  • Official sign-up will begin exactly 3:00pm, Pacific Time, Sunday February, 22, 2009.
  • To sign up, go to http://www.maxjaxusa.com/groupbuy/ and enter the username: MaxJaxGB and password: GBMaxPass.
  • After the first 20 Garage Journal Members have been verified, the contest will close and results will be posted within an hour.
  • Only one MaxJax per buyer.
  • ALL Garage Journal Members are welcome to participate.

In regards to the comments made about people joining this forum from other forums - we have no control over Garage Journal members spreading the word around to other forums they belong to. This promotion was meant for the good people at Garage Journal that have supported us over the past months and to show our appreciation for the cause. It was also created to gauge interest and get feedback on the first MaxJax units in production.

Integrity is a big part of how we do business at Dannmar and recently our integrity was compromised. This isn't taken lightly and measures were made to prevent happenings like this from reoccurring. We hope that you take part in this special Garage Journal Group Buy promotion this Sunday, February 22nd at 3:00PM PST to receive the MaxJax Portable Two Post Lift for $1,500 delivered.

Sincerely,

Tyler Rex

Translation from marketing speak...The ONLY thing Danmar did wrong with last Sunday's GJ Group Buy was a simple computer configuration error. I guess selective reading/comprehension is a "marketing skill".

For the record -- I WAS very interested in the MaxJax product. BUT... in your first 6 posts on GJ, you have convinced me that the 2 post lift i'll be installing in the 3 bay garage I am currently building, will NOT be a Danmar product... at any price.

Ciao - Funf Dreisig

On another forum you offered this lift for a 17% higher price but with a 2 week ordering window....now you offer the "good people at Garage Journal" 20 units and a 30 second window to ****** them up???

Sorry but I have to ask did your system get overwelmed with orders from the other offer like it did from the Garage folks??

I could be wrong but I think the same offer you had for others would be more consistant and much less frustrating for a much larger number.

I'm no marketing expert and a long way from DC so I just do things that make sense.

Still, this seems like a pretty strange way to run a railroad. :headscrat

If I'm available this Sunday I'll give it another shot, but like others who worked around schedules I' skeptical.

In this economy, I think the better plan would be to open the group buy up for a week, then cut it off. IF the margins aren't there, then chalk it up as Marketing experience and let the word of mouth and product performance pick up the slack. It shouldn't take too long to recover from that.

Word of mouth works both ways.

Ok, I'm a bit confused. Three days but only the first 35 callers get the deal? Won't that happen in the first half hour tomorrow morning considering the number trying to get on the website the other day?

As I was reading through it, I was figuring that you were going to say that names from the three days would be put into a hat or something.

I just see it being a "phone fiasco" tomorrow morning at 8:00 instead of an "internet fiasco" as was had on Sunday... :)

I appreciate that you are working to accommodate us, but I'm just trying to understand the thought process here.

Has anyone in Canada placed an order?

If so, with exchange, shipping, duty, taxes, any idea what your final price
will be $CND.

Thanks

Ok, so how long did it take once you got through? Just trying to figure out how long to keep trying! How long does it take to sell 35 lifts?!

Just got one ordered. Took about 2 minutes on the phone once the connection was made. The gentleman I spoke with said they were about 1/3 of the way through the GP.
Keep trying and good luck.

Agreed. I have a meeting at 11:30ET.

Would be nice of them if they would update this thread once the 35 have been sold. Even if they don't share the names.

I starting dialing at 11:00 EST and got through by 11:03, off the phone about a minute later. I was told I was #13 sold. Not sure, but either way I am excited to get the lift at 1500.
