Expensive thread for me ... just placed an order on Amazon.de as well as Sears.com ....

This has got to be my favourite of all my tools :

Did you happen to buy this on eBay in the last few months? I saw something very similar listed, and even considered buying it.

Yes indeed. I have not mounted the board yet as I am building a new garage. I bid on this thinking I could be really disappointed if the tools were bad ( listing was not clear on many details at all ) . So , I took a really big gamble. I can totally see why you guys held off on bidding- could have ended badly for the bidder if it was all rubbish !
Fortunately , the tools are all in "reasonable to good" condition aesthetically , and 100% functionally - what counts for me.

I am sure there are other items as good or probably better that crop up- did you see the recent Sidchrome wall mounted cabinet with tools ( absolutely no-one bid on it ... :dunno:) ? I Would have certainly bid on that if I didn't already have this....

Sounds like a huge order :)

.

.... err... Hazet Assistent

Table saw stand & other heavy stuff from Sears for , as stated US $25 shipping.

My tools/toys/hobby budget is A$ (deleted in case my wife sees this post LOL ) per month , I am now officially in debit for the next year. Please guys, if there is some really cool tool thread, especially if there are clickable links to buy , can you please block me from viewing ? Appreciate it. :bitchslap

Hmm... just for the record, I live in Sydney and have bought stuff online from Transquip who are in your state ? I'm pretty sure it all came via the shortest route ( -> Asia -> Europe -> USA -> Norway -> Buenos Aires - > Scotland-> Fremantle -> Sydney ;) )

Welcome to the Hazet club.

Next you're going to "need" Hazet tools ;)

They used to be pretty good, I bought from them about a decade ago and I always received goods the next business day (being in the same state). Perhaps things have changed?

Thank you , I am seriously also eyeing off the spanners.. ( Wrenches to you US guys )

My bad- just a poor joke about how far WA is from the rest of Australia, should not have overlapped that into my comment about a company ( Sorry Transquip Tools !!!) .

The company is great and I have had no problems with them , shipping arrival just a little slower than if I had ordered locally - exactly as you would expect...

edit : Correction , this last order arrived within TWO days ! This is as fast or even faster than a local company.Thank you Transquip Tools you are awesome.

Just a tip: the Hazet 600N or 600SPC spanner set does not fit the Hazet 166N cart, it's too long so I'm using the Hazet 603 which fits perfectly.

Click here for direct link to Sears (make sure the Aussie flag is shown on top right). Sears.com is a marketplace like Amazon.com so make sure to select Sears as the seller and not a 3rd party. The prices should have a AUD prefix, otherwise you might be on the American website.

Hi north, im not 100% sure but as far as im aware the vast majority of their stuff is made now in taiwan

Thanks. I have a vague memory of seeing a Sidchrome ASD set advertised as being made in the USA but maybe that was from an alternate universe. :lol_hitti

Jedi, there's nothing in that box to be ashamed of, regardless of where you live. Your stuff is top-notch by anyone's standards, even if it's not brands we usually see in my part of the world.

Matt, you've got a heck of a collection too, all the more so for your age - but if I may make a construction suggestion: you need to do something else with your micrometers and digital calipers. These are precision tools, and won't stand up to being piled up on one another in a drawer like wrenches. It won't be long before the faces get dinged up and you will have lost some of your hard earned investment. I realize real estate is at a premium in everyone's box, but those really need to be stored laying flat in a single layer at the least.

I agree!

Fellow Aussies,

I got a hot tip, you now can buy from Sears.com - delivery to Australia is capped to $25 for orders above $100 :shocking:

Their tool selection is very extensive, although most Craftsman tools are now made in China.

Click here for direct link to Sears (make sure the Aussie flag is shown on top right). On home page, hover on top right link for "International Shipping Promotions" - it says weight restriction may apply but when tested by checking out hundreds of kilos of garage storage (tool cabinets, workbenches), it didn't complain - shipping is still $25.

Might be a system flaw?

your a dangerous man, theres now 3 or 4 of us that have fallen victim to this.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I really shouldn't have started posting in this thread for a few reasons.

1. You guys encouraged me to start tyre kicking at new tools from all over.

2. My humble sets of Minimax and Sidchrome are, with in my life time, are now considered "collectables".

http://toolexchange.com.au/Collectables.html

3. Looking at my sets last night, I think its time that I gave them some T.L.C.

Hi Jedi,

Can you please give me the reference / weight of the small hand sledge you have from Estwing and if you are happy with it ?
Thanks mate

Hi Hemdale,

very happy with it, almost too good to use, used it a couple of times, the grip is very nice . it says its 2lb hammer

it has this metallic like thick powder coating on all the non striking faces, i think its rust protection

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Estwing-2-lb-Solid-Steel-Drilling-Hammer-B3-2LB/203075812

this is the exact one

These look exactly like what some of the Austrians were using while they were over here helping us install the plant my work bought from them.

I come back to this thread full of Aussies,
is anybody, or does anybody know anybody, selling Australian made combinations in 21,22,23,27 or 32?
Or any sizes in AF?

Ring Dave at Qualitool in Geelong. If anyone would know it'd be him.
Sidchrome make those sizes but I'm pretty sure they aren't made in Oz any more but I might be wrong..

Just found this, I have been buying tools since beginning my apprenticeship in 1978 and I have to say that any Stahlwille spanner has to be the best quality around although there are many fine quality tools out there.
Great thread

Agreed

Aha! Masters is owned partially by Lowe's which explains the Kobalt tools.
Most of the Klein Tools are made in the USA.

yeh i just found this out a day or 2 ago, even the shelving racks and price tags look identical to Lowes, they probably got the entire store shipped here

I think its time for some pictures. Here are some of my Lisle automotive tools. Lisle is a low priced USA brand, their tools are rather utilitarian.
