jedi: That's a nice selection of Stahlwille's you've got.

BTW, visited Perth many years ago; it's a great town.

I don't have anything fancy, I'm more into woodwork now but I purchased these 25 years ago they have not had much use as you can tell.

Thats when you know you have got your value for money. BTW if you have woodworking tools , post pics up of them, i also love woodworking, ive got some old planes and Augers lying around from my old man

This is my basic grab and go electrical tools, minus knife and tape measure..

I really enjoy working with the channelock linesman pliers, they have nice soft grips and seem to be a really hardy plier. Are those Fluke multi meters?

Its great to see the quality tools you guys have !

I must confess to also owning a heap of snap-on , stahlwille ( well , not heaps just a set of Stahlwille open box spanners) , hazet , gedore , Aussie sidchrome,

kinchrome- surprised me here i PAID LITTLE AND WAS OVERLY SURPRISED

- lots of old japanese stuff and all sorts of others...

I thought I might post a photo of my 2 portable tool bags - I have here the tools I don't sweat too much if I leave them in my car ( exception : diamond brand chinese wire stripping tool from 1970 - I cannot believe that this is still the best wire stripper I have ever seen and ever owned and it cost $2. Trust me , I have purchased about 20 others since then including the top quality US version ( ideal brand ? can't remember .. forget the brand I will check when I get home but that is a cool tool too....bag on left is for "electrical" , bag on right is for " general purpose/repair/maintenance/must have tools"

One of my "jobs" *

(*disclaimer : unpaid, unappreciated and it is all my fault if recipient of my services is not happy even though I usually also paid for parts **sigh** )

is to maintain my ageing parents , my ageing in laws , and my less than practically inclined and not ageing other relatives homes and whatever. I am a throwback as apparently I am the only individual since my grandfather who knows or cares about fixing things !

Thanks Granpa, I think about you every day ...and you taught me well !

Thank goodness he left me his chisels - see the wood handles in bag on right. These stay sharp no matter how many times I abuse them ( try not to !) . These are the cheaper ones , his good chisels have a metal ferrule around the end and I keep these safely in my workshop.

Nice collection mate, if you have time please post up pics of your other tools!

I have a few sp tools. I like their spanners and ive beaten the hell out their pry bars..
Pretty good gear for the money I reckon...

I rate their air tools pretty highly as well!

There are a couple of the Lock stillsons (12 "and 14 ")on EBAY at the moment.( I should say were, 12 bids and sold for $35 /pr )

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/A-Pair-O...17523438?pt=AU_Hand_Tools&hash=item1e8d2c82ee

Thanks 1/2 cup, i dont know why bu my example is wobbly as all hell, the jaws are made to very "loose" standards. I wonder if they are meant to be like that, there's utterly no precision its purely a utilitarian tool.

I have noticed that Channellock makes/sells insulated pliers for Australia but not in the US.
Thoughts?

I didnt know that. I have the 1000v vde linesman plier and i know they do a side cutter as well. very highly priced though, on par with knipex.

I have used Channellocks for 30 years as an electrician, the are great to use and still have my original pair, no short circuit blow outs on the cutters and no notable wear on the pivot pin I might add.

I shouted my self a new pair 2 years ago.

Bunnings sell them for about $54AU

Nice collection mate, if you have time please post up pics of your other tools!

OK - 2 of my drawers- spanners ( wrenches) my biggest size range is Holex ( German) but you can see a hint of Stahlwille open box 13 metric on the right, Am-Pro to the bottom centre and some Snap-On stubbies bottom left.

Photo 2 is my goto drawer for common shifters + pliers - NWS , Channellock, Dura-Tech and the shifters are Bahco/sidchrome/channellock/ some others

Thinking about picking this up if there are any left .... never heard of SP tools though, any good ?
http://www.transquip.com.au/product...}AF-Toolkit-in-Hyper-Blue-7-Drawer-Chest.html

Nice kit there, jedi.

I see you've already ordered but you'll be happy with the SP Tools. The Motorsport range I find better than the standard spanners - longer and anti-slip. I also have a selection of SP sockets with which I'm also very happy.

Couple of pics (notice the smattering of Sidchrome, some Australian made, Kincrome and the odd Dowidat)

...and, yeah, I'm like you. I clean them after use. :)

That's insane, >300% mark up :shocking:

Channellock pliers are usually under $20 in the states but often can be had for about $10.

Not to hijack the thread

Your right, it appears we pay much more by comparison to other parts of the world.
Don't get me wrong, but I am the first to support local business and in particular the ones here in Shepparton but it makes you wonder sometimes.

Any way rant over, so back to the topic at hand."What an Australian Tool Collector might have in his toolbox".

Not so sure you can translate that quite so smoothly as we are a long way from USA !! ... I paid from US $ 22 to 25 IIRC from Northern Tool for Channellock Linesman's pliers , then of course shipping on top of that... I reckon I paid OVER $A 45 a pair, arrival at my toolbox, on that order

Perhaps Northern Tool's shipping was pricey?

I checked Amazon and shipping is only $7.99.

More Channellocks on Amazon, not the cheapest but shipping is dirt cheap.

I swear amazon hates me.... they want $20 shipping for a phone battery both smaller and lighter than a pair of channel locks!!

thats because phone batteries are dangerous goods as they contain lithium cells in them and are are prone to starting fires with different compression (ie aeroplane cargo holds). i once tried to send a iphone 4 to china and the quote for shipping was 150 and only DHL and FEDEX were willing to take on the risk. I guess thats why lol :shocking::shocking::shocking::shocking::shocking:

And you guys use these tools to put armor plating on your vehicles so that you can transport the precious "juice" across the wasteland, right?
