Can you take the heads apart on those Tekton ratchets? They look just like my titan ratchet but I can't take the head apart on mine because of the selector lever like riveted on.

Just as an update,

Tomorrow I'll be posting a review on the Tekton ratchets. This will include open head inspections with photos.

Keep an eye out!

I picked up a Genius brand 1/2" flex, I think with 72 teeth? off a little truck that comes by once in a while to our shop with all kinds of 'discount' tools. I actually really like it, it's ~24" long and I've gotten the handle to flex when I leaned all of my 315 pounds on it, but never broken any teeth. Good ratchet IMO..

Broad view of the 1/2" Tekton extra long handle ratchet. Compared to a standard 1/4" Craftsman ratchet. (Just because I think most of you have this to compare with.)

Inside the head, it shipped this dry.

I've used the heck out of the ratchet since Monday, and it works well. Already looking fit a flex version, as the extra long handle is immense.

For the price, $35ish bucks from Amazon. . It was a score.

The 3/8" ratchet I got with it, sweetened the deal.

My suggestion: Can't go wrong with it. You could spend a lot more for a lot less.

What'd you end up using for a lube? I'm thinking about grabbing one of those to use at home.

I use something a little unorthodox for lube.

I use Lucas 15w Fork Oil, in my ratchets.

Being a racer, I have access to things via vendor and sponsor relationships, and Fork oil has never let me down.

I used to use a very light Pyroil lube, but it was discontinued.

Posted an update, with photos. Just a heads up.

No pun intended.

Bought a Snap On SLX80A brand new for $180 shipped. Little more than I wanted to pay, but for brand new, not bad.

For anyone else interested, here is a good used one (fair amount of scratches, but good overall condition) for $155 shipped. Note that it is the SLX80 (with no "A" at the end) so it has the older head that was prone to breaking. Snap On will probably warranty just the entire head for a new SLX80A head.

That's a killer deal for anyone interested...

My search is over; the ratchet in the ebay link is what I ended up with and it's a great tool. Bought a Tekton to use at home and in the junk yard.

But I'm still curious about the Cornwells though -- anyone have experience with one?

Used my Tekton this weekend. Being a bit paranoid, I broke the rusty LCA bolts loose with the breaker bar first. All the other rusty bolts I just went straight to the Tekton. I'm a happy camper, worth every penny.
