I blame them too LOL especially nine4gmc. My current count of vintage roller toolboxes, 2 bottoms/1 top Heritage logo, 6 bottoms/6 tops 1960's early 70's gray with red drawers and 2 bottoms/1 top red with black drawers late 70's. And the handcarrys are numerous too!

Thanks. The top box is stamped MB-210R 05. It's 26"x12"x19". I gave $200 for all three. It was one of those odd strokes of luck - for some reason that day I looked at Oklahoma City CL and this seller was in my hometown near OKC, near my brother-in-law. My BIL was able to go get it for me that day.

You see - that's what you people have done to me - you've got me checking CL a hundred miles from my home. And it's working.

Bill: i paid $200 for just my bottom 9 drawer Proto box and i drove to another state 2.5 hours away to pay the man and pick it up. you did great even if your brother in law keeps it for a couple years and breaks it in for you since you already have several others.:bounce:

Bluebolt: i'm betting i'm right up there with you with the toolboxes and carry boxes and before i joined GJ all my tools were in a 3 drawer Kennedy and a 2 carry boxes. sounds like you like Craftsman rollers a little bit better than the rest. or is that all you could remember while you were posting?

ALL: I'm not sure who to blame because everybody has had a hand in my tool vise, but i can tell you i have better or the more of the correct tools for the jobs when i need to use one now.:D

Thanks. My parents were kind enough to deliver it yesterday when they came to town. I couldn't risk letting the BIL get too attached. :lol_hitti

I had a friend pick one up for me 90 miles away a couple of years ago; He begged me to let him give it to his Son in Law, and I let him.... :dunno:

No other brands of rollers, all Craftsman. I did not include the later stuff, 2 bottom 26" rollers from the 90's, 2 Griplatch 40" lowers and one upper and a Griplatch 26" middle being used for machining tools.

Would you mind double checking the stamp on the top box? The 05 should be digits of the year, but that wouldn't make sense. Sometimes they wern't stamped very well. If it is a MB-210, I'd like to add it to my little database. Finding info on old mac and matco boxes is a real challenge compared to snap on or craftsman. I have a huntch it is a MB310 from 85. :dunno:

Happy to. The top box is stamped on the lower-left corner of the left side of the box. It's stamped a stylistic "MATCO", with three lines to the right of that. The first line is "MB-210R 05." The second line is a five digit number, and I assume that's a serial number. The third line says "Made in USA 82." I assume that's a 1982 mfg date. The PO says he purchased them used from his Matco dealer in about 1990. The dealer had taken them on trade from someone else.

I stand corrected. :eek: I think that is the first I have heard of a MB2xx series box. It looks exacly like my MB310 from 81 or 83. Does the top compartment have any dividers in it? I'll add that to my little database of mac and matco boxes for future reference. :beer:

Nope. No top compartment dividers. And no dividers in any of the drawers of this top box.

This turned out to be a great weekend for me finding a number of small vintage carry boxes in addition to other hand tools.
First up is a nice little Dunlap box.

The box and I are in Ohio. I won't get to Fla. until Sept-Oct. I will be flying down so I can't bring it, but I have a friend here in Ohio that winters in Brooksville, Fla. and will be driving down, maybe I can get him to bring it. I'll let you know by private message and maybe we can work a deal.

I bought this new around 76/77 . Haven't touched it in over 20 yrs. Had to go dig it out of my stash in the basement. Nothing fancy and only damage is the dings in the lid. I used this alot for road calls back when I first started out turning wrenches, so it has a few miles on it.
