Could use Expert advice on Snap On Buy

Hi Folks,

I have an opportunity to purchase what appears to be a somewhat older Snap on set in that it still has the old model ratchets (936) etc.. Below are the part numbers.

Just curious if $900.00 is a great deal or just okay. I have not had an opportunity to see the tools yet, but gather they are all in new condition.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Bobby

Crossfire,

Most of these collections that come up for sale say, "too much to list", so you're way ahead of the game knowing what is in the lot.

Make a spreadsheet will all the part numbers and the current list prices. You can check on eBay, but most used Snap on in good condition goes for 40-50% of list. New on eBay goes for 50-70% of list.

You can adjust from those numbers based on old style ratchets/wrenches and overall condition of the tools.

Then you have to decide what you'll keep and what you'll resell. How much of a hassle is it to resell and how much is that hassle worth to you?

Just a quick look shows 5 complete socket sets and two sets of wrenches. If you were to say $100 each for those (and if these are new condition that would be great prices), that is $700 right there. I see more than $200 left in that list. Sell what you don't need or want and you could be sitting pretty.

Thanks Folks, I really appreciate the help! I just went to take a peak and may have hit it pretty good the tools are new and unused. I will report back if I end up getting the set!

make him an offer, most people sell stuff that high, has some wiggle room in their price, You could save your self a couple of hundred dollars maybe. It is worth a try. Rich

Awesome, then the price is a great deal.

No Sir, not from Dan in NH

I ran across him and saw you were close enough for it to be possible. He was great and had a ton of NOS from his previous life as a dealer.

Great info here thank you. I did end up making the buy and was able to negotiate as well, so I am a happy camper. Not only that, but the ratchets were actually new, not the older models but the F80, SL80 etc...not one single tool was used!

As said above, I would buy these tools in a heartbeat. Then you can keep what you want and sell the rest on eBay. You may even be able to trade them in against other Snap-On tools with your dealer. I do this quite frequently with no trouble.

Yes good deal, buying brand new $900 would vanish into a puff of smoke after a few sets are added to the cart! Bonus is some of that is new.

I haven't had time to organize anything yet, so these pics certainly don't do the set any justice, but I hope you guys get the idea.
