Need to add missing air filter and retainer/housing to 1.5 HP Dayton Speedaire compressor. Not sure what it had before. There is no filter or housing. Otherwise compressor works fine:

Called Grainger, they said pump is Campbell Hausfeld, but didn't have much info as it's too old for them. I'm thinking that I'll need to get a piece of foam or wool felt to go over the intake opening and make some kind of retainer clip to keep it in place. Found a pic on GovDeals of similar model: looks like a simple metal clip, not sure if it's the original, and where to get it from ...

Looks very similar to my Speedaire. That's the "VT" series pump. It was available with a 2.75 or 3" bore. Mine has a separate valve plate under the head and a complete overhaul kit ran me $80. My filter is just a tad different.

Thanks!

Looks like I found the right parts:

Campbell Hausfeld Single Stage VT Pump Parts:

VT013200AV - Filter Screen
VT014300AV - Filter Retainer
VT013005AV - Filter

Of course as my luck would have it, filter retainer and screen are no longer available. Will need to figure something out.

Hi GarageWarrior,

While you’re at it, remove the head and clean those reed valves. They look very dirty with carbon, dirt and rust. The unit will probably be more efficient with better sealing valves.

Good Luck

There is a little picture frame that holds the foam in place on mine. It's a slight different pump though. You can use a little tube on your vac and gently scrape the reeds with clay modeling tools or something you make.

+1... That's the first thing I noticed was how dirty the reeds looked! LOL...
