donmillerx, It is a Polish vise, Bison-Bial. It probably has a rear moving jaw ? and that is a design used by several european companies.
I couldn't get the picture from Photobucket earlier
Is that a 5gal bucket below that vise?

My full focus is on the Emmert vise and my joy in restoring that one is...well it is making me giddy! My wife said that I love the Emmert more than I love her. I said it is an affair and that it will end and come back to her. By the way, the day I got the Emmert my wife of 31 years had come home an hour early to 'surprise' me, if you get my drift. I gotta tell you she wasn't very happy when I told her we had to go pick up a vise...And you guys don't judge me, I've had a vise sold out from under me more than once.![]()

FMC you wont believe it but the York is GONE. One of the guys who bought a few of my vises heard about it and wants to restore it. It is in really excellent condition...so it found a new home. He already had the 75mm York and was rabid for this one plus he offered $175 + shipping. I made him VERY happy and now I can make KM Scott happy by spending oodles of cash at his shop!

Good to see you've got your priorities right. Nookies you can get anytime, but a good deal on a vice or an uncommon vice is a lot more important.![]()

What can you guys tell me about a Babco 135 vise says made in Japan and looks like 4 in jaws any info is appreciated

:What have I got? It's a vise with "61/2 inch jaws" casted on the side plus "made in USA." It has the number 1765, has a bullet nose, with access through the nose (screw on plate).
It has pipe jaws beneath the regular jaws--it's very heavy. It's missing one of the pipe jaw plate teeth- jaws are held on each by a single screw. There is no company name though it appears to be good heavy duty vise, but a bit dirty from use.
I want to replace the one pipe jaw and go through the vise to clean it up-so need to know the maker?
Thank you, Vetactor

Found this at a garage sale this morning. Obviously a well used vise but it works well. 3 1/2" Prentiss Bulldog. I'm only going to clean up the hardware on this one and leave the cast iron alone.
I just acquired this 4" Wilton. It does say made in Schiller Park, Illinois and has a couple of numbers on it. (See pic). It looks like a Mechanics Vise, but has no anvil. Seems to be a little green paint left. I will rehab it, and have ordered new jaws from Wilton.

I need input from this august body as regards the Emmert i'm restoring for resale.
Mr Scott is making me a handle and new swivel clamp (YAY), I've resolved all the mechanical coditions and have it working like new. The burning question is WHAT COLOR?
I do not want to use boiled linseed oil, thats out. I assume the original color was black. I've toyed with using my Hammerite blue, a color i love, but I worry about originality.
So if you were an Emmert collector and you were spending 600-800 large, what would you want to see for a color on this thing? BTW, my wife saysvto go with the Rustoleum Spruce green satin.
thank you all in advance.
