Some great scores, guys! Thundermug and Outlaw got some major hauls there (envy).

I hit an estate sale yesterday that my father-in-law clued me to (he brought home a complete oxy-acetylene setup with tanks, cart and Victor gear for cheap). I went and checked it out and brought home this.

That box looks in solid shape and looks to just need some cleaning up. Don't know what you paid but you still **** for that score !

I think the trans output shaft sockets are actually chrysler ball joint sockets, or maybe they fit both. I have a plymouth they fit and they work well! Any body else know?

Those are OTC 649 and 650 sockets. Consistently referenced as output shaft tools when you Google them

Another good day at the flea market this morning - here's the loot:

The Craftsman 1/2-inch speeder, hex wrench w/2 sockets, old Taylor lock with no key, and the antique lead ladle was $4 total. The buy of the day was a brand new, never-had-a-socket-on-it Wright 6435 3/4-drive breaker bar for $10!

pic 2: all for $3
Jar of AMP corrosion inhibiting compound, can of 1970-dated military general purpose oil, and two empty tins - one for McCormick pickling spice and Merck milk sugar lactose. Nice display pieces for the can collection.

pic 3: all for $5
Lot of 7 mixed USA-made screwdrivers (incl. Proto), two Craftsman DOE wrenches, and a nut breaker with no markings.

pic 4: all for $1
Big lot of drill bits, both standard and paddle type, and a Craftsman USA 1/4-to-3/8 adapter.

pic 5: total $1
Eagle safety can, nice condition but has a couple small rust holes in the bottom that would not be easy to braze up. For a dollar, I think I'll just set it on the shelf with the other cool historical cans I have.

So I was lured back to yesterdays' estate sale. I wasn't going to, but they posted a $5 a box or bag clearance! I knew there was stuff worth getting but I didn't want to pay much for what I might want. I got 2 boxes worth, plus another $5 for am older workmate. Just post-aluminum frame I think and in really great shape!

Pics of most of it some didn't' get pics: Scrap brass, 3-4 lbs of solder, and soldering acid & paste, etc.

Crescent Needle Nose, Craftsman Nips, Boker Nips & dykes, Utica dykes, no-name Lineman's pliers, awl & chisel, Marusan (Japan) inlaid snips

Companion & Milwaukee Homeowner vises. Both had to be ripped off the benches in the shed swamp...

Archers Brace, 3 Locks without Keys, (Jeff you have first dibs, on's na almont, not keyed for Schlage...) Japan drill Bits, 3 Lighters, a can opener, 30 ft tape, copper wire, saw blades, pulleys, a fill set of 7 Craftsman ignition wrenches (these were immersed in a rust soup, and in their bag...)

FYI: PFSard (Paul) asked how I clean them up: SOS pad (NOT Brillo!) and water, for most if not all (that was all these needed) and a fine wire wheel for stubborn growths.



Rubber & rawhide mallets, coping saw blades, Alligator snips (representative of what some of the ruse mess looked like..) Copper wire, vacuum gauge, file handle, small driver.

Craftsman Tee & Combo, Hinsdale? combo, Huskey USA 60 tooth ratchet, Needle nose, no name DOE, and a KD special DBE.

I have been humbled by the scores of this years GST. With that said, I got to get my feet wet these last two weekends and scored some decent items.

Here you go in no particular order:
The green toolbox I got yesterday at the local flea market for $30. He was asking $45, I offered him $25 and we settled on $30. I am unsure of the maker, but it is heavy duty and the drawers open and close as they should. It's a nice box which I intend on restoring.

The other snappy box was a score IMO. I got it for $6 wit all the wrenches/sockets/Wescon screwdriver etc. (the nut drivers are Taiwanese). It will get a resto as well. I will use it as a truck box for the Isuzu Trooper I'm restoring to take the fam wheelin' in on the weekends.

The tow sign was $2 and the Freddy doll was $1. Forgive me, but it's my favorite holiday.

That oil can looks like the ones we had on our steam engine for oiling around the engine. I know they were made for lots of purposes.

Last Friday I hit an estate sale and an auction. Nothing big at the estate sale but I picked up an Exit sign, box of rubber fishing worms (just wanted the box LOL), Petersen long nose vise grips, Klein hole saw, Proto valve adjusting tool and #4 Phillips 3/8D bit, Williams 5/16 service wrench and 9/16 T-handle and an unmarked 1/2D T handle spinner. $13 total.

The auction was a body shop where the owner had retired. I was interested in a set of green Lista cabinets that matched the 5 I just picked up and was saving all my cash for those. Inspection showed they had a bunch of Snap On and Proto pullers and other tools in them too. They ended up being one of the last items auctioned and my opening bid of $200 looked like it might get it! And then another guy bid to $225, I bid to $250 and my bid stalled again. I thought I had it be he started bidding it up after the auctioneer was doing the going once, going twice bit. I had to bow out when the bid was $400. Since the auction was over I thought I was skunked. Then I noticed some signs that had not been part of the auction. I asked the auctioneer and he said I could buy them direct from the owner if he agreed. A short conversation later and I had a vintage wood Snap On alignment sign and a Champion spark plug thermometer for $25!

I hit a TOO on the way home and picked up a mini made in Japan vise for 50 cents and a Wizard 4 way lug wrench for a $1.

Today I hit the local flea market. Nothing I needed, there was a Parker 954 vise for $115 in decent shape and a few other items. Picked up 2 non-tool items, a 1960's vintage Hasbro Ford GT40 Mark IV non-working battery powered car for $5 and a 1967 Popular Mechanics that had a test between a Jeep, Scout and a Bronco. Since I have an early Bronco I had to have it even though it was $5.

Y'all are killing it is this weekend! I've been out of town this weekend spending time with the family before it gets too cold to go to the beach at Erie. I passed a garage sale while there but I didn't stop, wanted to !! but had other things planned. Instead I'll enjoy y'alls loot!

No name but seemingly very high quility needle nose pliers(dark blue handles, klein maybe?), sk sockets and ratchet, mac sockets, wright ten point 1" drive 13/16 budd wheel socket, thorsen 3/8 u joint, no name 1/2" double female u joint, williams sockets, hazet wrench $8 from the local pawn shop. All of this was in the cheap tool bins out on the floor. The good husky, cobalt, and Chinese craftsman tools were in the glass case.

Estate sale for me this weekend and a little time and effort to help them out a bit worked wonders.

Hein-Werner hydraulic frame/bumper jack, 1.5 ton, large foot print, very stable and works. $5. No, that's not a typo. Five bucks. This was an estate sale to liquidate, not try to make money. They needed this stuff gone and it was a fire sale!



Followed that up with a bench that I thought was angle iron with a plywood top. Got it out from the wall, unburied it, removed the stacks of plywood, tires and other debris to find it was a heavy steel plate instead of wood. 2 1/2' x 3 1/2'. That steel top? It's 1/2" plate and my straight edge confirmed it's *flat*. Woo! $30 and it was mine. Not sure how I'll use it yet- was thinking originally I was going to cut up the top, but with 1/2" plate, that seems like a better welding table top than rough material.



There are more things I'll take photos of, and the seller led me to a pile of what looks like 5-6" I beams about 8-10 feet long that he'll dig out for me if I'm interested. Yes, I'm interested. Scrap metal value only.

Vega: just an FYI in case you can't use the beams and want to scrap them. i'll come pick them up or if you have them loaded and want to drop them off that works too and I'll give you double the scrap value.

first, finally snapped pics from last Sunday's haul... well, most of it. Put some on eBay last sunday night...









Basically, a guy cleaning out his fathers house... he said "if you want it, throw it in a pile" Grabbed all but some import tools. Nothing particularly special, 2 CMan rat's, 2 no name planers, etc. This little vise though... its a screw on bench style with removable jaws... any idea of a maker?

Start routing through everything, and the guys like "that wrench is a dollar (import ****), nothing Craftsman is for sale, nothing large is for sale..." So I'm thinking to myself, why am I here then? I'm checking out the box itself now and go to him "look, I'll give you $100 for the box and anything I either don't want, or is newer Craftsman, you can keep" After 5 minutes of him debating, sold.



So, I'm the proud owner of a '79 24-drawer CMan stack. He also had a 40" CMan Pro stack and a 26" Kennedy bottom. Literally the most unorganized tool collection I have ever seen. Sockets in every drawer, random **** in every drawer....

This was the "older junk" that he didn't want....

A lot of SK, some Proto/Plomb, some older CMan, a SK rat in there somewhere too...

And a box of random **** that I had to take out of the top for the top to close....

They did in 1948. That's marked Proto and LA, not USA, so should be before the buyout IIR.

Set of Cman metric combo ignition wrenches (10mm-11mm wrench missing). Any idea why these combo wrenches have different sizes on the open and box ends? Plus 6mm, 7mm & 1/4 combos.

I would assume they are different sizes on the ends so that you can have two wrenches available of the same size to loosen or tighten bolts/studs. I.E. 1/2" open by 7/16" closed and 7/16" open by 1/2" closed so that wrenches can be used in pairs.

The Scott wrench is most likely for Scott self contained breathing apparatus used for fire fighting. years ago each scba came in a storage case and had a wrench included. Used it to change out empty air cylinders. Scba now has hose fittings that don't need the wrench.

This off CL, a 1" Foley Belsaw belt sander. Missing the side disk and table, but wanted it mainly for the belt. Not as heavy as I thought it would be, should be a good one to start on.

I had a hunch it was for something like that. I am not familiar with the air packs themselves but I know the Scott company was down the road up until not all that long ago. Maybe from a storage case or walked out of the plant.
