Very nice indeed. Is that the Palmgren vise off Ebay you mentioned in another post? If so, is the channel machined or as cast? (Maybe this info is in the other thread, I didn't look)

Thanks for all the compliments, I really love it myself, everything came out how I had envisioned it...I dream of this stuff at night :lol_hitti
I was actually using it for the first time tonight, awesome being able to beat with a 32oz dead blow ball peen on something and have deep sockets standing up which don't even wiggle or fall over...

Looks almost too good to use! How many guys to carry it out there?

Actually I can do it myself, bottom cross beams are placed so my pallet jack gets right under there and makes for an easy lift...easy to maneuver it anywhere in the shop by myself.

Holy **** that is nice. The Wilton vice is a perfect way to top it off. Very classy:beer:

Yup, its the Palmgren Tradesman eBay vise, its a machined tube, IMHO its basically the Palmgren version of the Wilton Tradesman, everything about it is "just like the wilton". Biggest difference is instead of a circular tube like the wilton, this one is a machined hexagonal tube. IMHO I'm VERY VERY Happy with the vise purchase. Well worth every penny I paid for it, the thought had crossed my mind multiple times that maybe I should snag a couple more for the hell of it while I can....Smooth as glass action. If you need a 6" Vise, I'd head to eBay and snag one, GREAT Deal on an awesome vise.

all in all great build. For a period of time I thought about doing what Spudland_Dave did. The idea quickly died when I saw what a drawer and slides cost. I agree like you said in this post you can poke around for one to pop up on craigslist or see if a dealer has a dented one he wants to get rid of...
For now I'll just keep the idea in the back of my mind.

Re: EPIQ Workbench Build

I actually talked to my dealer and he said in the 10+ years he has been doing this he only ever had one dented/smashed drawer. ;(

Any idea what this tips the scales at with the 3/4 top

I don't recall the exact dimensions of the top itself but with all the steel involved, I'm gonna say easy 1,000 lbs.
I guesstimate the top is right around 525 lbs alone...trimmed it out with 1/4" Diamond Plate, 3/16 Wall 3" SQ Tube legs, drawer by itself is a 2 man lift. I'm not afraid of it blowing away in the wind...LOL

Your garage might lift away in a tornado but that thing ain't going anywhere. Very jealous of your new bench man.

Do you have any close ups of the slides? I'm going to ask my driver monday if he has any krl or epiq top drawers laying around.

Really nice, no, the nicest bench I've ever seen. If someone can pickup a draw at reasonable cost then great, go that way, but you could build a draw the size you need.

Sure...here are some pics of the mocking up and fitting of them..I made em just like SO does, so if I ever need to swap a slide out its no big deal.

Very, very impressive! Agree with others - it's the coolest bench I've seen so far. The drawer finishes it off nicely!

One minor detail... Did you tip the end of the sliders like the EPIQ?

Thank You to all.

And yes, I set the slides identically to how they are setup in a "Real" EPIQ..so there is some "Slope" in the slides, and I setup the drawer retention system as well, so you open & operate this drawer just like a real Epiq drawer....
