first, finally snapped pics from last Sunday's haul... well, most of it. Put some on eBay last sunday night...

Basically, a guy cleaning out his fathers house... he said "if you want it, throw it in a pile" Grabbed all but some import tools. Nothing particularly special, 2 CMan rat's, 2 no name planers, etc. This little vise though... its a screw on bench style with removable jaws... any idea of a maker?

Take a closer look on the stationary jaw tower, right below the step in the casting for the jaw pad. You might find a name stamped into the metal there

Those were pretty common little vises but some were purchased by wel known tool makers. The name you want to see Boley on the front of that little guy:beer:

I scored a 1/4hp 6" pre-block grinder off CL this afternoon. The seller wouldn't budge off his $50 asking price, but I was ok paying it anyway. I was really after the stand.

The hard part was walking away from a $100 Dewalt panel saw. If I had brought something that big home with me, I'd never be allowed to live through the night. :lol_hitti

Nice score on the grinder, but...

"That big?"

It stands against a wall; takes almost no space, (other than wall space...)

An 8' high x 12' long panel saw means that my sister (we share a house) looses an entire wall of shelves in the garage to store all the baby junk that I have to trip over until she has that yard sale that will never happen.

There comes a time when purchasing tools when a man has to determine if one more tool (that can't be hidden ) is worth his life.

Tools; Unused baby stuff; Tools; Unused baby stuff... These aren't even hand-me-downs? Tell her Yyard sale, or Freecycle, but it's got to go!

OR get that **** out of the way, setup the panel saw; because you need it to add a loft in the garage to store that **** up high and out of the way...

So I scored a huge lot of Plvmb and (1) Proto sockets off ebay. 42 total with 1/2 Plvmb breaker bar and ratchet. Sizes range from 7/16ths to 1 1/4 but it is not a full run. There are multiples. See my other thread in the classifieds section. I am selling extras... I am super excited about this as this is the biggest lot of plvmb I have ever seen in one place aside from my collection. There are even 2 transitional sockets which I was pumped about. Also has a few of the odd 32nds sizes like 19/32, 31/32nds,ect. I was the only bidder and only paid the starting bid :0 Shipping was a little bit much but was worth it in my opinion to fill extra holes in my collection.

One of the transitional sockets...

I ran the gamut today. Hit 1 estate sale, 1 garage sale, 1 pawn shop, 1 thrift store, 1 trip to the DMV that left me feeling like the victim of a gun-less robbery, 1 buffet stop (4 plates) Yeah, I had to make up the money somewhere. :D

The pawn shop had good results. A bunch of sockets all MAC with two Snap On for $35.

I don't recall ever seeing short 1/2" deep well impacts before. Right up until a minute ago I thought they were 3/8" drive. Strange. :dunno:

Great score there, Rusty65. That Challenger socket set is sweet. Those Benard parallel pliers are something, aren't they? I picked up a pair of Benard pliers recently and puzzled over the design. Never seen anything quite like them.

Well I went to a sale today at lunch time. Nothing really to write about but I got this toyota tool pouch with Made in Japan on it. If i didn't know any better it had a copule of tools that looked like bicycle spoons or something. Either way it will be later for pictures as I am still here at work and then dinner with the wife.

In my best Mocho Man Randy Savage voice "oh yeah!" :rocker:

Was that 3 separate places? Any intense haggling? If not, that is just amazing.

I paid $3 today for a older 1/4" SO ratchet, extension, deep socket and 1/4 to 3/8 adapter. Starting to feel as if I overpaid. :headscrat:

Great stuff bluebolt, especially that reed. What is that small snap on ratchet 1/4"? Can you post some pics or numbers off that toolmakers/dp vise with base? That looks interesting.

My run out the door this morning was a bust. The ad said that they were cleaning out the workshop.

What they meant was that they were cleaning out anything that wasn't tools that they were tripping over out of the workshop. No tools for sale.
I wasted 30mi worth of gas for nothing.

Three seperate sales.
I offered $1 for the proto stuff (it looks new), he countered $2, I stuck to $1 and he sold it.

Got the axe and craftsman brake tool for $1 no haggling. I asked if he had any more tools, he dug out the locking pliers and asked for a buck, I looked but couldn't find anything else I wanted group with them and didn't want to pay that so I offered $0.25, he said just take them.

The sk pliers and clamp were on a table where everything was a dollar. I heard him not give deals to three other people but when I offered $1 he took it.

The Toyota tools look to be a hubcap remover prybar and possibly part of a scissor jack handle?

Good score on the eggbeater! I've got a couple of them. Here is a good link for tuning it up... http://www.wkfinetools.com/trestore/boringTools/tuningEggbeater/restEB1.asp

This might not be the place for this but i wanted to post an update on the hand crank drill i picked up last weekend. I promised i would post pictures of progress and it came out better then expected.

The drill works great but the chuck still needs a tune up. For some reason, one of the jaws doesn't want to work as a team when opening or closing.

Hit two sales today along with emptying the truck from last weeks flea market and trading with Jerry. I had been lazy and did not do much after work this week.
A friend came up and I sent him to an estate sale by my house while I was working and picked up a Athol 614 vise for me for $35:rocker:
I went to the sale at 4:00 and bought the Craftsman Wrench rack,a tape measure,Snap On T handle and Cornwell 1/4 driver handle for another $2:rocker:
I should add the wrench rack looks minty fresh!!!

Anyone what know tools was in this toyota bag?

I may be misunderstanding the question. I had one like that a while back. IIRC, there were also 2 or 3 DOE wrenches and a screwdriver. And maybe a cheap socket-type tool (for the lug nuts).

I'm still on the hunt for an anvil. People on CL know what they have. I live in a agricultural area. Need to score one from a old barn sale.

If I knew that I was going to be in AZ this winter I would sell you one of mine!

i should take the weekend off, since I have a lot to clean and sort through... but it's getting colder and sales are going to stop soon, so I should stockpile for winter, right?

Thanks! I was a little lost by it myself.

Wizard rocks. It was a house brand made by Indestro for Western Auto. Clean that up and it will last another 50 years.

I'm hoping it cleans up and I'm thinking of keeping it since it's slim. Right now the action doesn't work so I'm going to take it apart and see what shape it is inside.

Good to know! I was wondering what tools that i had that came with the bag but I will keep this in mind in future searches!

I have to reach a balance as eventually the garage is going to have a mini van in it during the winter month so can't let my stash get too big! But that didn't stop me from going out today,

My today's haul consist of Plomb and Ray's automotive specialty tools!

img_2862.jpg

Here is what was inside of the plomb box, except the wrench I got at a different table! This is all Plomb items!
img_2864.jpg

Other sockets in the box was proto, blackhawk, and new britian.
img_2865.jpg

Also I picked up these Barcalo since i knew some folks collected them here.
img_2867.jpg

I picked these up since they looked to be stamp like Proto kind of, I know the Challenger was by proto.
img_2869.jpg

Also the Peen Corps looks like proto too but unsure, along with the Billings and the Upland wrench,
img_2870.jpg

Anyone heard of Ray's Packard tools?
img_2872.jpg

That was my score for the day, and I also got the first lord of the ring dvd since I've never seen it .

Not bad for a $28 haul!
