I found this old torque wrench at an indoor flea market a couple of weeks ago. The guy wanted 50 bucks, but took 40. Did I do alright?;)

I don't know if it was the adorable 4 year old ******* my shoulders or if it was just getting late in the day and the guy needed to take home the cash, but it was just too cheap to pass by.

After I bought it I mentioned to the seller that it was a nice torque wrench and was well worth sending out for calibration. He responded that he had his Snap-on dealer check it in the last 8 months and had hardly used it since. He had my money at that point so there was no reason to lie about it. It appears to work well, and seems to match the torque wrench I checked it against.

If its calibrated then its well worth it.

"old torque wrench" It was only manufactured 8 years and 3 months ago. My only torque is my grandfathers Proto 3/8" which is from the late '60s. Nice buy, I would have bought it.

The fact that it was just calibrated; makes it totally usable and is one of the problems I have with purchasing a used torque wrench. I always figure I am going to have to spend $50-$75 to have it gone through, calibrated and that may not even cover shipping to/from the calibration company! :( I have yet to buy a used torque wrench; I have to buy it cheap for me to be willing to ship it out for repair/calibration, services! Do you guys think a torque wrench is one of those things, best bought new unless like the above situation; dirt cheap and just calibrated?

Depends on the style of torque wrench and the condition.

Hey, what indoor flea market do you go to?

It was on RT 2A around the Orange/Athol town line. There were a few sellers with some tools but not anything to write home about. It was my first time there. I had my daughter with me, so I could not dig too much. The guy I bought the Torque wrench from also had a brand new looking MAC Tools brand MIG welder with a bottle for $1000 and some automotive specialty tools that seemed a bit expensive. Its hard to know if there were deals to be had earlier in the day. Worth stopping in, but perhaps not a destination, from what I could see.

BTW- There is a great appliance part store in Athol called Appliance Man. That is why I was in that neck of the woods.

I'm looking for a flea market where I might find some tool deals without being in fear of getting mugged or hogtied. Seems they are often located in areas where those are the risks.

Ok, yeah, I am going there. Hope it's not a bad part of town, but the guy seems cool.
