die grinder disc holder with hex shaft?

I'm searching for a tool that I'm not even sure exists. Maybe I'm just searching under the wrong name.

I'm looking for a die grinder disc holder with a hex shaped shaft, to be able to use grinding discs with a drill instead.

Feel free to point and laugh if this sounds stupid. Thanks

Why does it have to be hex? Round works in a drill chuck.

I might just try it like that then, I just always figured being a round shaft it would slip in the chuck.

They have them at lowes, can't find them online ATM. From my experience, do yourself and your drill a favor,go get a dremel and or a 4.5" grinder.

A round shaft will chuck up just fine in a quality drill chuck however, die grinders run at a much higher speed so you might not get good results with a disc in a drill.

Also, cutting discs don't flex and the weight of the drill might make it hard to tell when you're putting a side load on the disc.

Dremel makes a flexible shaft. My experience has been that a drill motor doesn't have enough rpms for most jobs. That being said if you use a good 3/8 corded drill it may work well.

Air grinders and the Dremel run around 30,000 rpm 3,500 for
A drill motor. Craftsman used to make a great electric die grinder but they discontinued it. If you can find a used one they're a great tool.

As others have said a drill has a much lower rim, but at the same time you can put a little more weight (force?) Behind it to get a similar result. I needed a to use some roloc disks to where I didn't have air and the holder worked great in my m12 cordless drill. It was a little slower but functioned well.

That being said if money is no object Milwaukee has the cordless polisher now

Yeah I wouldn't use a cutting wheels on it, just normal die grinder discs for light-duty work. In case anyone's still wondering, yes this scenario is due to the lack of air for said die grinder.

Also I just found that ACDelco makes electric/cordless die grinders, although they're a bit pricey. Quality wise I'm not too worried, I've been using their 1/2 impact, 3/8 impact and 1/4 ratchet, all electric/cordless with no problems.
