.... and went to the last day of the Estate Sale from friday. I spent some time digging and filled another bag full of stuff for $25.
Great stuff. Great price. Hard to believe that these were not bought the first two days.

That could be anywhere from the 50's to 90. It says West Germany which became unified in 1990. Just a thought, looks cool though.

Picked up these Bonney boxes and tools. It wasn't a steal at a couple bills, but still a good deal for the boxes, a combo and open wrench set plus partial box end sets and sockets. Seller had the original receipt when he purchased it in 1976. He has more Bonney stuff that he's not ready to part with, but said I could have it when it's for sale.
These are Triangle era, and the wrenches feel really nice. Quality tools for sure. Anyone know who would have made the boxes? And, now I have to decide whether to restore them or not ...

The drawer divider/stiffener leans me towards MBC...![]()
Cool box, take a picture of the drawer slides and post it on here. I remember someone else having a Bonney box and it was of different construction:
Pete, is that a thumbs down then? I put it in the kitchen drawer as a handy go-to! So far it has done some real damage to the thumb tacks holding up a few Amish pot holders.
Not a garage sale or estate sale but kind of a hand me down.
My Father in Law's father used to be a mechanic as he worked on airplanes in the WW2 and then came home and worked at a automotive shop, then went on his own rebuilding starters/alternators/generators. The FIL had this in his basement and said he thought I would appreciate this box.

I don't know if it is a MBC or know even though it looks very similar to mine. Mine is 1965.
You said OP bought in 76 and thought mbc went out of business by then. Its very possible they continue to make that under a different name with a few changes. Idk. I know this much my top chest is a heavy SOB.
Im loving the bottom roller. Awesome set of boxes. What's your plans for them?
It looks good to me. Don't "restore" it. Leave it just the grandpa used it. I have "restored" some items that really weren't that bad and now I wish I had left them alone.

I tend to agree but SILVER!!!! Makes me want to ask him why. Of course I know why and I know why he painted it as the bottom was missing the original paint but still! Lol
Any tips on bringing a leather handle back to nicer conditions?
Been a while since I've found tools but here's the only thing worth posting
