According to Bend Pack my lift has a 2 HP motor and I wired for that while my lift was in storage assuming the NEC 2 HP full load amp rating for conductors at 240V. I used 12 gage wire with 6 conductors in EMT derating the capacity 20% using the 60° table that comes out to 16 amps. Fine for a 12 Amp FLC rating of a 2 HP NEC spec motor, but it turned out that my motor name plate does not state the HP and lists a FLC as 17.
I find that if I could use the 75° table I should be fine in that the derated current capacity would be 20 amps 18% over the FLC.
But how do I know if I can use this. The THHN wire is definitely good but the NEC also requires all terminations and enclosures to be rated for 75°. I found printed in the tiniest print possible that my circuit breaker is good for 75°. But I cant find any date on my panel enclosure. I also couldn't find anything on the Bryant L14-20 receptacle its plugged into as far as terminations, but they do give it a -40°C to 85°C continuous operation range without degradation.
Any ideas?
