Here is an update on the 63 split window Corvette. It seems like forever since I have talked about it. We decided to connect the new GM LS3 to the Tremec T56 6 Speed. I knew we would have plenty of engine compartment room but the transmission was another thing. The 6 speed does not swap into the C2 Corvette transmission tunnel so easy so we had to do some cutting. We cut the entire top of the transmission tunnel to make everything go in easy. It went in no problem and now left with raising the tunnel which i think will look so much better than the stock one.

It is amazing the amount of modification that you can do to a car, that most people will never notice when it's finished. That is going to be one sweet ride!

I hope you guys havnt forgotten about the 1958 Corvette. If you remember this is the car that is ******* and has the frameless windshield. Believe it or not there has been lots of sanding going on around here:rofl: The inner fenders look killer when the car sits on the frame. They hug the frame real nice and it just make the engine compartment look sleek. The last shop had removed the hood latches and glassed them in so we had to come up with a solution. Because this is a open top frameless windshield the dash pod really looks like half a basketball sitting on top of the guage pod. We are thinking of a Paul Akins or possibly build our own. Looks like the car is going pearl white with the interior color yet undecided. There is plenty of time for that.

If there is any of you guys out there in central Florida with knowledge of an exceptional interior shop let me know. This car really needs something special.:D

As you can see there is a little bit of dust in the air. Finally we are painting the c10 pickup this week. I am pretty excited about this truck getting done. The final color choice is silver metallic on the bottom, and a darker silver for the top of the hood and cab.....a little two tone action. There will be a small stripe between the two colors and I have no idea yet what I will decide........red, black, blue.....:headscrat I am sure it will come to me!!

Mark The 58 vette really caught my eye.
Those fender inners look fantastic!!

But what prompted me to post was the headlamp modification
That is cherry I love the look but I have a Question. How do the sealbeams mount and how will you be installing them

Remember my 62 red vette? it has been pulled into the shop to be completed and I love your vette's look

I will be raising my trans tunnel as well. Thanks for that clear pic. of yours
It helps me out a lot

Thanks for sharing

Thanks Don, I will take some pictures tomorrow and send to you. We mounted the light frame behind the opening so we could still adjust the headlights. The previous shop had mounted the lights but there was no way to adjust them and we thought that was pretty important.

We painted the bed of the C10 today. It is one serious hunk of metal. Tomorrow we work the cab and the fenders. It is two tone silver and charcoal.

It is pretty hard to take photos in a lighted paint booth but I gave it a shot. As you can see we have one clean firewall here. I am calling this a "ghost" two tone. Lighter silver on bottom and a little darker on top. If you look at the door jam at the upper body line you can see the slight change in color and also on top of the hood.

Can't wait to see that truck come together, it's been there since the start of this thread, more or less. What's the latest for wheel choice for this truck?

The wheels are about the only thing that hasn't changed;) There are 22 x 8's in the front and 24 x 10's in the back built by BonSpeed. I have had these wheels 4 years.

Yes, believe it or not we are still working on the c10. Finally the cab is on the chassis and we are rolling on this baby. I have ended up changing a few things around.....battery placement, air ride pumps, and other stuff I originally thought was a good idea. I am really happy with the paint and very excited to get to see it done. Hope you like it.

Whatever became of your bagger build that you mentioned a little over a year ago? I didn't scan through all the pages, (I think it was on about page 74, or somewhere close to that).

thank you!!

Funny you mention it. The guy who built that bike frame just came to work for GodSpeed day before yesterday. He has been a fabricator, mechanic, bike builder, and multi-talented guy in town here in Sarasota. Very well known and we are glad to have him part of our team. He just got back from 2 months of work in Detroit working on the Batmobile and some other movie cars.........it pays good! At the time we had a pretty awesome air brush biker dude working for us and it seemed a good idea to build one but I got cold feet at the last minute. We never did it but who knows.....we may just one day build one.

Started building a fuel tank for the 58 Corvette today. All the baffles are in place and we are waiting for the in-tank fuel pump to arrive to finish it up.

Wow! Just wow! Mark, your work is incredible, your house and garage are incredible and your team is incredible!! If I wasn't committed to my current career, I would pack everything up and move out there to try and join your crew!! I'd sweep floors, take out the trash and always have a hot coffee/cold soda in hand/hands for everybody all day!! I've gone through your entire post from the beginning and my first word still lingers... WOW! Keep up the great work, hope to post some of my meager garage and 1986 Silverado in the future. I'm subscribed to this thread and can't wait to see your future updates!

Godspeed Mark!! :)

Hey guys its a great day here in the monster garage as I finally got the 61 Corvette done. This project turned out to be about triple of what I planned. It has taken us a few weeks to get the carbs tuned up as those dual quads are a pain. She is going on ebay soon!! Until then I have taken the wife out on a few cruises. People young and old really love this car.

Hey Mark, it's been a while since I posted on this thread, but I just had to log on to say that Corvette is just beyond words

That right there, is my dream American Car :rocker:

"Mrs Kered" & I are going to be in Orlando mid November for 10 days, so if that open invitation of yours to all GJ members, still stands, we might just take a drive over your direction one of the days :D

At first I thought that might be Bob but I don't think his wife, Deanna, lets him sit down during the day. My guess is that it's Woody, introduced back on page 50. He's always lurking around the compound.... (http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2940837&postcount=988)

Oh, and by the way I guess I have not introduced "Woody" to you guys. See him sitting on the chair in the background. A buddy of mine went to the Mecum auction and paid something like $500 for this guy and brought him home and gave him to me. He said i needed to start getting some garage memorabilia around so I guess this is my start.

I wanted to show you guys the next project. We have been pretty lucky to get new and interesting projects. Here is a 67 International Harvester we will be restoring. We are heading toward installing a duramax and possibly a whole new frame Right now it is in the design stages. Anyone out there have a 3/4 ton chevy pickup with a duramax they want to get rid of!!

Mark,

Okay, I'm checking in on this one! The GM cars are fine and all, and you guys do amazing work, but I'm really looking forward to seeing this '67 IH, very cool!

If you're discussing a modern drive train and suspension, now you're in resto-mod territory obviously. Unless that truck has some cancer or damaged areas I can't see, wouldn't it be the perfect candidate to leave the body alone? Just matte clear it to protect and preserve the patina. Try your best to get the ECU/TCU, and other modern equipment out of sight, like under the cab or rear seat. A "clean" engine bay with a duramax would be quite the accomplishment. Try to leave the stock dash in place as much as possible, with necessary concessions for gauges/indicators. Gotta stay with the satin black, solid steel wheels as to not give away the bowtie underpinnings, and also to keep the personality of the truck. The wider 2500 axles would bring slightly larger tires out a little more, filling up the fender wells nicely, while raising the body a bit at the same time.

I don't know man, just a few thoughts - you guys are the experts.

Following your progress on here and FB every week! So thanks!

Hey Mark I spent the last two nightshifts at work reading every post . Inspirational to say the least , I recently built my dream shop over the last few years, its 28 x 38 . That was the biggest I was allowed to build on my lot . Its pretty nice but your place is incredible .

I just wanted to say your team is banging out some incredible pieces and it was fun watching the whole thing come together . I am a long ways away up in British Columbia Canada but if I am ever in Florida I will be knocking on your door for a tour

Thanks for taking the time to post all this stuff

I've just read through all 118 pages, and I can't thank you enough for sharing this part of you life with us. You have inspired me as well as others I'm sure. I've got tons of questions and comments, but first things first: I know you love the resto-mods, and I do to, BUT that IH needs to be left alone. It is perfect as it sits, and true survivor. Such a rare beast to find in such good shape with perfect patina. I know the customer is always right, but man to see an orignal truck survive like that is a rare feat..

Just keep the pics and updates coming, I'll be follwing along.
