also - make sure to visit your local Harbor Freight tools store!

you can print this coupon and use it for 25% off most items except tool boxes, floor jacks, welders, generators, and compressors

What kind of budget do you have and what exactly are you looking for? Just a kind of bonus kit with a chest or a fully stocked chest? Is this for yourself or are you giving it as a gift to get someone's tool collection started?

I'm not an expert on the subject but I believe Craftsman, HF, and Stanley are the only companies that offer an affordable starter set. I personally would not go with a HF set up, the tools in and the box that are comparable to the Stanley you posted are sub par.

I would like to be around the same price as the one I listed, I just want small chest for my self. it is cheaper than the craftsman chest around the same size plus it has tools with it.

Stanley makes decent starter tools that fit well on fasteners, their boxes are also nice. The slides are good and the boxes are sturdier than Craftsman. I have a Stanley 26" stack on thats the next model above the one you listed. IMO you can't beat the set up price/quality wise than the one you posted.

Craftsman USA is the most solid choice for a beginner, staying away from bulk China tools is the best advice you can take...

Go to HF for boxes, they have a cart for $170 and a 44" box for $380. Really good values.

Its a cheaper box, but i'm no pro and didn't need a bigger box than what I have. The stanley set is a good deal for a secondary box and doesn't take up much space. The tools included aren't bad and are a bonus. I've had no issues with Stanley tools as a backup set. Just used the Stanley ratchet and sockets to drive some large lag bolts last weekend. Works fine

If you already have tools, then buy the box to put them in. The Stanley box isn't going to be a high dollar box by no means. You'd be better off buying that HF tool cart mentioned above or stepping up to their larger tool cart.

If you have a low budget, I'd start looking on CL for a nice used box.

There are several levels between Walmart Stanley, and professional. What the guys are saying is the Stanley tool box is not much better than the cardboard box it comes in. I recommend you go to the store and put your hands on one. Open the drawers and imagine what they would be like with some real weight in them...
Then go to Harbor Freight and give the 4 and 5 drawer tool carts a try. There is no comparison. Even for a homeowner box the Stanley is poor quality.

I do agree the Stanley line of tools is really good, especially for the price.

If you don't need a rolling chest:

BTW - I bought the chest w/tools you linked from Walmart for my brother. It's kinda flimsy and the only tools you get are the socket and bit set pictured. It's still a pretty decent deal, and works fine for my brother to keep his tools somewhat organized in his basement.

I have been looking for months on craigslist and found jack ****. Most people that I respond to are jackasses, they want me to drive hell and gone from where I live to see it because they would not take a picture so I can see if I would even want the thing.

Harbor freight 5 drawer tool cart. You assemble it so it should easily fit in your car. If you have more money the red Hf 26"box is also nice. Usually you can grab that for $299 with a coupon.

Don't get the Stanley. You'll regret it.

That stanley box is very light duty. If you already have a lot of tools, you would be better suited finding a better box as others have mentioned. The Harbor freight carts are much sturdier than this Stanley chest and actually probably hold more tools.

You should add your location to your GJ profile. It really helps folks on GJ to answer your questions when your location in known. An answer to someone in Texas might be different than the answer to someone in Canada or Australia.

And, who knows, someone here on GJ near you may be upgrading their present box and would make you a good deal on it .... but they would have to know your location!

Ace, We understand the money thing. We have all been there, but that is the deal, it is in your best interest to save for an affordable cart instead of throwing money away on that chest. Be patient, something else might come up, but if nothing does the HF carts are the best bang for the buck. And I am only talking about the 4 and 5 drawer carts, most of their other carts are very light duty and are not any better than the Stanley.

The 26" is a very good option too. Lots of thin drawers and it will offer way more storage than any HF cart. I prefer the HF 44" because of the counter top space, mount a buffing wheel or a small vice to the top etc.
