I got this flyer in the mail, since I'm signed up to go to SEMA, SK says they have a new "secret"

So do you think SK is going to have some significant innovation in ratcheting wrench design?

The cynic in me is strong, and my marketing-BS-meter is pegged after reading, "The future of ratcheting wrenches" and "revolutionary new design!" phrases.

I'm going to stir the pot and say they are coming out with pear head ratchets to compete with every other US tool manufacturer!

SK has two ways to win with ratcheting wrenches. First off sticking to their promise that all SK tools are USA made. Second price them somewhat competitive to gearwrench. Gearwrench at list price isn't the cheapest out there so it shouldn't be hard to come close. An added plus would be going large, at least 1 1/4" and 32mm.

I cant imagine the ratcheting wrenches will be priced anywhere close to GearWrench. My guess is sets will start at around $200.

Need to be flex, available in long versions like the ez-red wrenches, with the same offset/deep setup, but be REVERSIBLE and fit into tighter spots than a gear wrench will. Then I'll buy some .
Regardless, I like to see SK coming out of the shadows

I am 100% onboard the SK train with their new dedication to 100% USA made. Have always been a huge fan of their sockets and 1/4" ratchets, but with their new priorities I will consider them for all tool types.

I wouldn't mind seeing someone finally make a double box fixed/ratcheting that isn't hilariously long with a flex joint for the ratcheting box end. Basically like the old Matco Pro-Swings but with a flex.

6pt ratcheting box ends would also be welcome for those in the rust belt.

And hopefully they come out with some unique variations like that fairly quickly because honestly, I kind of have no use for standard combo ratcheting wrenches. From the perspective of new tool purchaser ratcheting combos might be a good start but from the perspective of someone who has a lot of tools they need to make some unique products to break into that market. Its the primary reason that I haven't delved into their current line-up of tools. Im already overloaded on sockets and wrenches and I have no desire to buy antiquated roundhead ratchets. They need to fire up the R&D department and start getting innovative.

Looking forward to what SK has to offer. Wera's Joker wrenches are the only line I've seen that is really doing anything different or innovative in ratcheting wrenches. US made would be reason enough for me... if I was starting a set of ratcheting wrenches, but at this point I've got nearly complete sets of Gearwrench in almost every variation. Wow me enough though SK and I'll find the money to upgrade!

Very exciting ! Where can I run and have a hand on them when they're ready !
I might even grab some other stuff too .
I thought so. A business-distribution model is a wiser choice than ANOTHER ratcheting wrench. This all resonates true with Wright, Gray, SK, Proto(to some extent) and most things "truck only". It's almost as goofy as the govt budget inventors. Perpetual fail.
Sears had it figured out long ago and corruption killed that. Let's hope Harboring Fear continues with what "appears" to be an improvement on the previous ideas.
I'm not an impulse buyer but I sure do like it in my hands to check out before I get out the greenbacks.I mean in an hour. NOT 3 day UPS or even overnight.
I remember the days of click -snap..**** !....off to Sears. No complaints. The replacement was free and I needed beer and smokes anyway(back then).usually bought a couple more things too. A can of WD or some blue goo, maybe some carb cleaner. The good old daze.

I've used some old Husky Pro ratcheting wrenches for a long time, and recently got a good deal on some Cman USA ratcheting wrenches. All seem to be great, however I really wish they were long pattern. Also I used to use my boss's blue point reversible ratcheting flex wrenches, when i was a tech, and those things are a dream. They even beat the Snap-on version that doesn't flex. I hope SK took those into account. Considering the only USA ratcheting wrenches you can get are Armstrong and Proto, both at high cost. It would be nice to see some new USA made wrenches.

They used to make them. I have a set of these in metric.

I have to say, a long time ago a company by that name invented the round head and roto head ratchet if I recall. Is it unlikely they will come out with a serious game changer? Probably, but who knows. I think it could happen.

That's not true, SO are USA (Not the Bluepoint version). I agree with whoever said there needs to be some unique variations, I already have standard reversible ratcheting combo's. As much as want to support SK I can't bring myself to buy tools I already have...

Yes sir. I forgot to add that SO do have USA made ratcheting wrenches, however they are also very expensive.

Who knows?
Very interested to see what these look like, their capabilities and different styles/versions.

This could either be really big for SK, or a flop. Hoping for some SK Made in USA competition for the Mountain/Ez-Red/Platinum style double box, flex head ratrcheting wrenches. I've been holding off now for a loooong while in the hopes that SK might have their own versions.

If SK makes these, they can mark me down for a set.

My SK ratchets are nearing 20 years of age and have never needed to be rebuilt. My metric long wrenches bought back in 1996 or so have never let me down.

No import socket/wrench/ratchet can hold a flame on SK...

This is as good of a reason as any to NOT get married

Congrats to the fellow getting married! It happens to some of the best of us formerly die hard bachelors! As long as you are on board and fully willing to BECOME A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSON AT YOUR WIFE'S DISCRETION you will do fine in the long run!

Just celebrated my 11 year anniversary with my wife a week back. Got a late start getting married, but now have a little 2.5 year old boy and just adopted a baby girl newborn (at middle age). It's a new adventure and wonderful for us! Congrats on the marriage!

Now, go SK go! I need more SK! Best stuff I've ever used (among a few other greats like Wright, Proto, Snap On, Klein, Channellock)! - Paul

Yeah, SK ratchets are extremely durable. I love 1/4" ratchet, but since I work on planes I like my 3/8" drive to have a high tooth count and a pear head. Dont really need the ruggedness that someone who works on cars would need.

This excites me. Not as much as the red dress girl, but the wrenches will be cheaper in the long run.

Glad to hear SK is coming out with new USA-made stuff. [emoji106]
Ideal is doing things right!
Funny that a lot (most) of their own branded products have been out-sourced. I was quite skeptical when they bought sk, but seem to be holding to their US made promises... good for them!
